    Just subscribed having found this channel after seeing snippets on YT of the 2024 Beating the Retreat by the Royal Marines last week, with a beautiful performance of Enya's "May It Be", the Jupiter movement from "The Planets" by Holst and then "To Thee My Country I Vow"...... and watching this, the full 2022 Beating the Retreat performance has just reinforced how brilliant are the Royal Marines massed bands. I've just checked out both the RM webpage as well as iTunes and sadly this isn't available either on CD or on iTunes as I adore the performance of the music from Gladiator in this video. Greetings from Western Australia and thank you for sharing your music here. Sadly, we'll never be able to travel to the UK again (husband has dementia) so I so regret we never managed to see the RM bands on any of our trips to the UK in the past.

    Reminds me of this from Kipling (Recessional)
    My earnest appreciation for those who keep us safe.
    Recessional
    God of our fathers, known of old,
    Lord of our far-flung battle line,
    Beneath whose awful hand we hold
    Dominion over palm and pine -
    Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
    Lest we forget-lest we forget!
    The tumult and the shouting dies;
    The Captains and the Kings depart:
    Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
    An humble and a contrite heart.
    Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
    Lest we forget-lest we forget!
    Far-called, our navies melt away;
    On dune and headland sinks the fire:
    Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
    Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
    Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
    Lest we forget-lest we forget!
    If, drunk with sight of power, we loose
    Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe,
    Such boastings as the Gentiles use,
    Or lesser breeds without the Law-
    Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
    Lest we forget-lest we forget!
    For heathen heart that puts her trust
    In reeking tube and iron shard,
    All valiant dust that builds on dust,
    And, guarding, calls not Thee to guard;
    For frantic boast and foolish word-

    Lt Col Burcham, you have done a marvellous job, Sir!🫡 Thank you so much. This Beating Retreat was absolutely amazing. I can see it over and over again. Hannah's singing has been the Highlight!😊
