Better for the cruiser and the racer the new breed of winches will have you trimming like no other and of course the main advantage... Some even allow us to be that lazy maintenance free sailor we've always pretended we're not!

Great Video. Would have loved some of those innovations when I was racing 😁 We have some great floating winch handles. But, have to say we love our Lewmars. Tougher than a junkyard dog, as reliable as a Swiss train timetable! Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.

Great vid and perfect timing. My boat has Barient 32 three speed winches that are probably 40+ years old. Replacements are definitely on the horizon.

I bought 3 new Antal winches this year. Not the racing version. the chrome st's. Lovely winches at a fraction of the price of other winches. Had the harken radials on my last boat. Very nice too

@@SailHub Will do. Unfortunately, I went to go out on Sunday to do a test run and as its a boat, naturally the engine wouldn't turn over. Starter was replaced in 2021 and was not used much. I will never buy another Kubota based engine.

@@SailHub Its the second Beta Marine engine I have had on a boat. Nothing but trouble. The present one has less that a hundred hours of running time.

Nice! -- QUESTION -- When they say a winch is size 20 or size 80, what exactly are they measuring? width, siameter, swing?? What is 20 and what is 80 exactly?

It’s the Antal for us at the moment! Packed with tech and reliability! However.. the others are awesome too, if we had to rank them it would be a close second for the Lewmar and Seldén!
