it's also entirely possible that my holocaust survivor family members shielded us by claiming it meant a Carnation, lest we think of the Bris :)

Question - Does this particular song hail from Romania? They make it seem that its a real nice place!
I think it might have been written in NYC for the Yiddish theatre. The composer wasn't Romanian but the Yiddish theatre was very Romanian culturally.
