The Ohio River is a 981 mile long (1,579 km) river flowing in a southwesterly direction from western Pennsylvania to its mouth on the Mississippi River at the southern tip of Illinois. It is the source of drinking water for five million Americans. The river became a primary transportation route for pioneers during the westward expansion of the early U.S. The name Ohio comes from the Seneca, Ohi:yo, meaning "Good River". In his Notes on the State of Virginia published in 1781-82, Thomas Jefferson stated: "The Ohio is the most beautiful river on earth. Its current gentle, waters clear, and bosom smooth and unbroken by rocks and rapids."
Lyrics:
Old farm backwood holler
Board and batten seen some water
Ohio River runs cold
Down west Ohio Valley
Sandy loam somewhat flatter
Ohio River runs cold
Do you remember me
I'm who you used to be
I am your history
Breathe in me
Proud folk still keep working
Good souls still got nothing
Ohio River runs cold
Trees down more snow coming
Icy limbs more keep falling
Ohio River runs cold
Do you remember me
I'm who you used to be
I am your history
Breathe in me
Old farm backwood holler
Board and batten seen some water
Ohio River runs cold

Really great song, Rand! There's a wonderful groove in your vocal delivery. And the "O-hio" hook is terrific. Compliments to your recording partners as well! 😀👍
Thanks Tim!
Hi Rand. It's a really beautiful song with very poetic lyrics. It's very interesting the summary about the Ohio river. I didn't know it was so long and that its name came from the Seneca. I really like the video with the alternation of beautiful landscapes and the 3 of you playing the instruments. It's really very touching. Please congratulate Rick and Jan for me.
You are kind Thierry, merci!
