i have one thing to say. R key DOESN'T remove the victory lap modifier, when i unlocked Tainted Cain for the first time i tried to complete everything in one run, at that time alabaster bug was still there, when i defeated lamb i accidentally pressed yes on a victory lap and after that i used the R key,guess what happened, it didn;t count anything i did after that, i tried using another R key and still nothing. so no, R key doesn't remove victory lap modifier so if you somehow, get lucky enough to get multiple R keys throughout your runs for unlocking every character(aside from lilith and keeper and their tainted versions) doing a victory lap on your very first dark room clear will waste your time.

Actually, the glowing hour glass doesn't stop glowing after 5 uses anymore. It's a nerf that they reverted a long time ago. It can be used as much as you want.

Hear me out. Tainted Cain, if you manage to unlock Tainted Cain, you should be able to farm R keys, essentially giving you infinite attempts, of course you'd need to unlock the alt path, so you'll have to kill mom's heart 10 times, kill hush 3 times, kill mother once and then find the clicker to change into Cain and get Tainted Cain.
with a friend we do this. Essentially breaking a run and doing every bossfight in one run. There's a catch... if you battle "the beast" it instantly ends the run and if you fight "mega satan" you have a 50% chance you go to the void and use the R key.
So with 2 players the tainted cain can R key infinitelly and the other character if it manages to find clicker can change to all the other characters that need to unlock things.
theorically you can unlock everything from every character (tainted if the other player is tainted and non-tainted if the other player is non-tainted) by using this method except for mega satan and the beast. If you where really lucky you can beat all the mega satan's and then finish it with a the beast fight for a killer run with the most unlocks possible.
You would also need to unlock forgotten for the bone hearths
Except there is still about your "first" repentance run. There is no way that I know to turn a non-tainted character into a tainted one so tainted cain is out of the picture.

This challenge got me thinking, how many secrets you can unlock in one run of Isaac?
Theorically, almost everything, the thing is that in the billions of seeds that there are possible, I think there's not even a seed which have the requirements to unlock almost everything
Frankly, this seems like a real fuckin pain to route. I reckon we just start with characters. It's potentially worth noting that it's quite impossible to get /all/ of them, at the very least because of the forced cutscenes after home.
@@tsawy6 It's also impossible to unlock all characters in one run, even theoretically, because Lilith and Keeper require Greed Mode to unlock.
From my understanding of some of the new items, if you were somehow able to swap to tainted isaac and beat delirium then restart and get the spindown dice you could use it on mucormycosis to get the full mom’s shovel. Again this requires somehow turning into a tainted character as a non-tainted character, but if you could somehow do it you’d be able to get the forgotten

Hush's timer wouldnt be an issue, as mama mega would be able to open the door regardless of the timer (it does the same for boss rush if thats needed somehow). if you can somehow beat mom's heart 10 times in a single run. this then unlocks access to the alt paths if we can kill hush 3 times, meaning then we can beat mother and get jacob/easu, and unlock the strange door (if the mom fight in the alt path doesnt insta-cutscene of course.). using that you can unlock the negative/polaroid slowly by looping isaac/satan with the r-key, allowing you to then unlock the ascent and get tainted characters.
Isn't it possible to refight the same boss multiple times by using Glowing Hour Glass and every win counts as a separate one?
@The Kitty Cat King Since the alt floors have a different ai to the mom fight, and a certain secret to them, there is a very real possibility that one does not trigger the end cutscene (you arent supposed to access it in your first run). if it does though, yea cant really get polaroid. but you can get to the dark room with we need to go deeper iirc

I do know that Mama Mega automatically opens the door to Boss Rush without needing to defeat Mom (I don’t think this was changed in repentance), however that would be challenging because you need to hold the shovel handle the whole time. That means you need to find Mama Mega on Depths II, you can’t find it on an earlier floor without Schoolbag. Not only that, but you need to find We Need to Go Deeper either on Depths II AND Womb II or find it after Schoolbag and then find Mama Mega on Depths II.
Edit: Actually I was wrong, I forgot that completing Boss Rush while doing Forgotten unlock basically gives you We Need to Go Deeper in the form of Mom’s Shovel. You still need to find Mama Mega on Depths II or after finding Backpack.
If you are holding the Broken Shovel piece, Boss Rush will open regardless of the time
The broken shovel only appears if you clear the dark room once. Good luck doing that and getting the shovel in the same run.

what if an unlock category was everything outside of R key (Ie cain, maggy, samson, eve, laz, and eden) there could also be sub categories like edenless or azazel over maggy and vice versa

A more plausible way to get Blue Baby during this is by getting something that can crash the game. Every time you beat Mom's Heart, crash the game, due to the way isaac works, you will still get the unlocks hopefully. A similar yet unintentional method got me Polaroid by accident.
Would it function the same if you were to use task manager to close the program?

I have a few ideas:
-Mama Mega can be used to open the Hush fight, allowing you to reset the run around 3 times with R keys, in order to unlock the alt path.
-Killing Hush a couple times unlocks the void and the alt path, meaning that you can unlock Apollyon without having to end the run.
-Now that the alt path is unlocked, this adds Jacob n Essau + the home route
-Since we have access to home, this allows us to get the red key, and unlock key shards, wich in term, doubles the ammount of characters unlocked.
-Now, the big issue to tackle, is the low probability of finding a seed with the propper rng and quirks necesary, but that is actually not that neccesary.
Having a bit of luck at the start, unlock Lazarus, and get to the dark room having an R key with you.
Using TV remote beforehand, swap to Lazarus, and beat the lamb to unlock pandora's box, if we are lucky enough, we can get a Red chest drop on the dark room, and get pandora's box right out the bat, unlocking the moving box, one of the most important items for this strat.
Restart the run using R key once again, and get the school bag (also i hope you already upgraded the shop a bit in order to make things easier)
Now on a fresh run, we have to also get a clear rune and a rune shard (to those unaware, the rune shards replace a rune everytime a normal one spawns, but isn't unlocked yet, it functions as a blank rune, but with effects less powerful).
Now using any sort of infinite charges break (like car battery+yum heart+mitre)
We can slowly clone stuff with the rune shard, in particular, we are cloning ? Cards.
Using these, we can use Diplopia multiple times to clone R keys, allowing us to restart a run as many times as we wanted, but also, clone anything that we feel like (like mama mega, to unlock hush's door) and using moving box, we can carefully move everything with us (tho keep in mind, it would be wise to get rid of car battery, as this item messes up a bit how the moving box works).
With all these tools in our hands, we can go to the home route, and you might be thinking that would be impossible, as we need the polaroid or negative to enter, and we can't get them, but not quite.
There is 1 thing that is always unlocked and can allow us acces to home, and that is faded Polaroid, this trinket also works as a key to open the strange door in depths, so, all we have to do is get one using mom's trinket box, and clone it using the method showed before (yes, a new mechanic allows for the same trinket to be held twice at the same time, so they can now be cloned using diplopia).
With this, the red key is unlocked, and every alt of any character that we have at the time.
So this still leaves the impossible ones, Forgotten, Lilith and Keeper, as their mechanics for unlock leave no wiggle room, they are left as pretty much impossible (unless someone find out a way to change game modes and reset the clock)
And still, mom isnt defeated yet lol
And fun fact, the Faded Polaroid is the 69th trinket eeeeey
Jabrio mama mega also unlocks the boss rush door so as long as you can beat the first boss in under a minute it should be possible to get the forgotten
@@qwart22 Sadly, that's not the case.
The broken shovel only spawns once you unlock the Dark room, otherwise, beating the first floor boss does nothing.
Also, the whole point of this is that we can't enter mom's fight, cuz that would end the run in the spot. And I don't know if you can get the second half of the shovel on Mausoleum Mom, but it doesn't really matter if we can't get the first half in the first place.
@@jabrio3584 There's one more interesting addition to the posibillity of unlocking the forgotten though. The rooms spawned by death certificate contain mom's shovel. But how would you get there? Metronome can do it but that's a greedier unlock.

A good bug to "farm" runs is adding a 2nd player in the start.
If you add 4 players after defeating a boss it will spawn 1 item for each character
Going in and out before you get all the items replenish the pool (so you take items as many as you want)
Killing the heart or the devil with 3 more characters in theory you get 4 kills in 1 run using the other methods like R key and resetting with this make it way more possible

how tanky can you get in this game? as in, how many hits can you take in a single room without dying?
Here are a few rules for it:
-you can give yourself any items.
-losing a holy mantle counts as a hit, since you lose it.
-touching something damaging with Algiz, book of shadows or polaroid invincibility, or something similar, will not count.
-If you get a setup that allows infinite hits, that doesn't count, since just schoolbag+guppy's paw+converter already exists and its not that interesting.
i've managed to get a few hundreds theoretically with guppy's paw, placebo, full health cards and the wafer, but i wanna see how much you can get.

You can actually get the R key alot easier if you get members card/chaos and an infinite money break, so 30 characters on the first run could be possible. Though I'd say it should instead be 29, because there is some stuff about tainted isaac, and genesis is a greedier unlock
Hey could you get around the need for countless ? Cards using echo chamber so that you can just use any card to reset the run as long as you keep your r key

I don't think that you can find the seed that you need, not because it might not exist, but because every seed is different based on your unlocks, so you'll need to create a new safe file every time.

I've heard on the wiki that apparantly the 6 pip dice room can reroll your active item into ones you haven't unlocked yet.
It might be possible to roll into metronome and use it until you get death certificate. The rooms in there contain mom's shovel for the forgotten unlock.

I suppose you can get death's certificate that way but mom's shovel is not in any pool.
I have a possible work around although a bit finicky. Also I’m not sure if this goes for everyone but it’s happened on my game so I’ll try explain it. Basically after winning a run (I haven’t unlocked rerun on this save and the same would be true for a new save) I can still “continue” the run. I used this to cheese playing Greed Mode and just unlock the keeper in one run and at the start I also used it to unlock blue baby in a single run. Assuming you’re fast enough, you could keep killing moms heart and hush until it unlocks what you need and then use R key to reset the run. Although this will most likely be patched out at some point, it’s a working solution
I have already tried to unlock as many endings of Isaac as possible without unlocking the Epilogue (beating Mom) and I can confirm that beating Mausoleum Mom before having beaten Mom will trigger the Epilogue Cutscene. Maybe this can be avoided if the Voidportal spawns but I am not sure.

You just need to get 5 things i think. We need to go deeper. The new Rune duper (the one like Blank Card but for runes) Jera, Polydactyl, and R Key. And you get infinite runs. The only issue is getting the Hushes. But if im not wrong, could you not unlock the strange key
Mama mega opens the hush door when used on the floor. Strange key is a tainted eve unlock.

how to R key infinitely:
Schoolbag+ R key + D1 + ? card + Polydactyly (or starter deck)
You can use a "? card" and restart to basement 1 and you'll still have another "? card" cause you can duplicate them with D1. You can charge D1 obviously by doing the rooms as you go on and get your second "? card" repeatedly. As long as you don't use your R key or both your "? cards" you can keep going forever.

D1 is unlocked by defeating ultra greedier as Isaac so this wouldn't work. The other way is having Clear rune and Jera. But Jera is unlocked by doing challenge #2.

@@thothomas753 You can use a rune shard which are unlocked by default and can activate the D1's effect. You can also use the D infinity which is a delirium/isaac unlock. (this dice is busted now)

Not my first run, but (I only had rebirth) I got Madeline, cain, and samson in the same run... with Azazel
ascent is still impossible, as opening the door to mausoleum II requires either the polaroid or negative, both of which only drop from mom, which you can't teleport out of on the first run.

Faded polaroid works too which is unlocked by default.
Continuing to my comment: you’d unlock blue baby anyway when you get hush.
1. Get IV bag + restock
2. Break the shop by buying red hearts by discount
3. Buy Chaos
4. Get all items you need
(It will not solve the problem with Forgotten, though)

Idk is this helpful but beating Issac, Satan, The lamb and ??? as Tainted Eve will unlock the strange key trinket which will allow the door to Hush always open regardless of time. This could make so it is possible to do the three hush kill and unlock Jacob and Esau.

There is unfortunately no way that I know to turn into a tainted character when playing a non-tainted character. You can open the door with mama mega though.

Getting golden teleporter would guarantee an I am error room (if you have enough consumables and can find secret rooms). I feel this could fit somewhere in the run
Also, using the card that activates your active item could be useful

Does Issac have a seed manipulation technique yet so if you have a certain seed in mind you can make the game give you that seed “naturally”? Also, have been playing vanilla rebirth for a while now and can’t get the meat boy achievement. It’s the last thing I need then I get platinum god. I’ve gotten 3 part of the cube 14 times now just for death to not spawn because of either double boss room or conquest. I want someone to figure out what the chances of making the meat boy are assuming you get a floor 1 book of rev.
you can actually open the entrance to ??? using mama mega, even after the 30:00 mark
and assuming any form of infinite card generation (deck of cards, sharp plug, placenta being an example) infinite restarts isn't super far fetched to get, though would require insane luck

If the moving box still works like before repentance, then you could store as many copies of the R key as you want. Schoolbag would be needed to use them all. After farming R keys it should be easy to unlock most of the characters

@@TBiscuit1 shit, well doesnt make it undoable, because you can use other methods to make the two necessary "runs" to unlock it. It makes it far more difficult and unlikely, but we're theorizing so it doesnt matter how ridiculous it gets.

Sooooooo, I got a weird bug on my side... each time I'm finishing a run, I am able to continue to the last floor starting room or last time I quit and continue... and so using the "same" run to unlock pretty much everything... does that technicly count? (R Key can also be obtain to have a reset for mother for exemple)
can you give me an example? like, do you mean if you save and quit after killing lamb, you restart in dark room? or if you saved and quit in basement, and then kill lamb, do you restart in basement?
So it can be exploited to an extend, it basicly simulate an Hard Crash without closing the game, but Mom or Beast will cause a "win" even if it's possible to continue

@@GoodSmile3 yeah... the number literally accounts for that. if those combinations of seeds were possible, then the number would be way higher, there is a 32 bit integer limit along with it, if you literally could put any alphanumeric code in it would be in the trillions rather than billions
@@bd1pLP thank you, but by the information that you provided in the video, that would be 32^8 possible combinations, as in any of alphanumeric characters (minus 4) can be input in any of 8 places in a seed (and multiple times too), so that's where I got that from and which is why 2^32 makes no sense to me. Otherwise there must be some sort of check if the seed is legit. If that's not something we know, then you should have just mentioned the amount of seeds Tyrone provided and not get into details just to avoid misunderstanding. Or I'm just completely and absolutely dumb and in that case I wouldn't mind more explanation.

I think your math on the number of seeds is incorrect. With 32 available characters, the number of possible seeds would be 32^8, which is over a trillion, about 250 times the number you came up with. Exploring all possible seeds is basically impossible.
i took my number from a post from Tyrone back in 2014, i can link it if you want, i’m not saying your wrong i’m just saying maybe i forget to mention a certain stipulation
@@bd1pLP There's no need, I think I know what the case is. The internal seed is probably a binary 32 bit number, which would in fact result in 2^32 values, the -1 is probably an indicator that 0 isn't a valid seed.
So even though there are over a billion possible combinations of 8 alphanumeric characters, because the internal seed is only a 32 bit number, that means multiple different combinations of characters result in the same seed, meaning the number of unique seeds is in fact what you said in the video.
That is to say, you did get the right number of unique seeds, but it's not as your phrasing implies the same number as all possible combinations of 8 characters out of a set of 32, which is considerably larger. I was going to edit this information into my original comment, but you replied before I got the chance.
Either way, exploring all possible seeds is not realistically viable. It's possible a seed with the desired properties exists, but it might never be found.
