I am 70 and boogie woogie is way older than I am - I remember my parents listening to it. An example is “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B” from WWII. I’m not sure, but I think it was a combination of jazz and swing…? It certainly has the “make it up on the fly” aspect of jazz.
Anyway, it is certainly hard to sit still while listening to boogie woogie!

Man I wish I had taken my piano lessons when I was a kid seriously instead of screwing it up. Story of my life with most things.
I understand that completely. If you're like me you just had a shitty teacher too, and that's what made me hate it.
You can start whenever, if you can't afford a proper piano a keyboard is a pretty good starting point. Although things can be easier to learn when you're very young, it's never too late to learn anything!
Definitely the best piano performance of all time for me. Love it.

About 10-15 years ago I saw a special on PBS of a child prodigy. Destined to be one of the best classical pianists ever. But he happened upon a place where a guy was playing boogie. He liked it so much, the story goes, that he was not heard of again. Now I'm wondering if he's back.
