In advance: The reason I didn't use the final story (The most serious story) as the thumbnail/title, is I feel weird about pulling people in to these ad supported videos with a tragedy. I want to cover it because its important, but I don't want my videos to be tragedy porn. Obviously I cover news and its expected that bad shit is going to happen, but it just feels dirty to me these days. Just thought I'd try to explain for any people who see the title and think Im saying the attack is of lesser importance. Anyway, love you guys and I'll see you tomorrow.

      1. This has nothing to do with Islam.
      2. The guy was a mentally ill 'lone wolf'.

      4. Change Facebook profile to flag of inflicted country.

He knew CPR and saw a guy on the ground in a parking lot with a woman kneeling beside the guy freaking out. He jumped out of his car and performed CPR for 20 minutes before EMTs arrived. The dude overdosed on heroin. Anywho, co-worker said he was so exhausted but just kept pushing himself with help from adrenaline. You never know when you can help and be a hero, so its good to know basic first aid and CPR! My co-worker is a hero in my eyes!

Kitty genovese, a woman in the 1960s was stabbed by a man over 30 times in an alley way, easily seen by dozens of people. In one case, two people even moved their armchairs to the window to sit down and see better. This went on for over 30 minutes before police were called by someone. When the 35+ people who saw were questioned on why they didn't do anything, they said they just assumed someone else would.
This has been recreated (obviously fake) with different groups of people, but when more than 6+ people are in a group, there is a less than 10% chance that someone will help. When it's down to 1-2 people known seeing the incident, it's closer to 90%.
So when you see someone on the side of the road and you say, "oh someone else will help", that's probably not true. Just be that one person who creates the 10%

I literally haven't had time to form an opinion on the overarching topic, but pharmaceutical medication can be a drug. A drug is simply any substance that has a physiological change in the human body. It doesn't matter if it comes from the doctor or the dealer. A great example of this in sports. Is a member of the Olympic Swedish men's hockey team missed the gold medal game because their allergy medication was on the list of banned drugs.

    Hi The Phil,
I have followed the PDS for six years, relished in the birth of the SourceFed group, and shared the excitement and relief when Phil’s dad got a kidney transplant. So I wanted to share with you a free UCLA Kidney Health Fair on March 26th at Santa Monica Park #1 at Ocean Park Blvd. & Barnard Way from 11 am -3 pm.
Dr. Anjay Rastogi, MD, Ph.D., the doctor running the fair, currently works on drug trials on PKD and kidney disease patients at UCLA and is passionate about increasing kidney disease and living kidney donor awareness.
The PKD and kidney disease patients treated at the UCLA PKD and dialysis center are offered a wealth of resources and insight that is not available to most patients with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Rastogi hopes to help more kidney patients suffering from chronic kidney diseases become better advocates in their treatment by connecting them with doctors, dieticians, and other resources that can help answer questions to better prevent and manage their disease at UCLA Kidney Education Enhancement Program events like the March health fair.
The kidney health fair will include a 2k and 3k walk, 50 educational booths covering all aspects of kidney disease, expert teams of nephrologists, surgeons, researchers, and dietitians to answer kidney health questions, a KIDney zone for family entertainment, kidney centered yoga routines, therapy dogs, and living kidney donors and kidney donor recipients who will share their experience with the program.
I know Phil is taking a short hiatus from the PDS, but we would deeply appreciate it if you could swing by the kidney health fair or help raise kidney health awareness by sharing our event and donation information on your CZcams Channel, FB, and Twitter.
You can find the registration information for our event here.

While I am disgusted and appalled with what has happened, and with the tragic deaths of at least four innocent people, I was also reminded today of how much I love my city. It had been so long since I was scared about terrorism so close to home that I'd almost forgotten we were a target.
Let this make us vigilant but not afraid, and instead of martyring the attacker try to remember the names and faces of Keith Palmer and the other victims.

Well, it may seem horrible, but chances are a good many of the people on there simply didn't know how they could intervene. If one of them got up and pried on of the guys off of her, well... it'd be three against one. They could call the police, but it'd be kind of hard for them to deal with something occurring on a moving vehicle. They could stand up and say "What the FUCK?!", but the bystander effect makes that the hardest of things to do. The thing is, though, that last one is the simplest and would probably be the most effective- nobody's going to tell someone to sit down and let that happen; they're going to join in and wind up out numbering the rapists, because that's what each and every one of them is likely thinking. The temptation to fall in line with everyone else, not make a scene, and pretend it's not happening can be pretty hard for some people to resist, though.

Men and women are biologically different and are set with natural dispositions that make one stronger to the other. Trans-women have a natural advantage in the sports field as though they may claim to be a woman, they are still biologically a man. Just as trans-men are disadvantaged to biologic males. Trans people should be placed in their own league to be fair to all parties

This would probably take a while to implement, but why not just have trans categories? Would probably be best to have one for trans men and one for trans women - even if, as you said, the former isn't as much of an issue, testosterone has been used in the past for doping, so... that doesn't seem right. Problem might be that there just aren't THAT many trans people both overall and in competitive sports, but... if there are enough, why not? Could also just make it separate categories within the female "divisions" so it isn't completely separate, but counted with the biological advantage in mind. That said, it's entirely possible I'm overlooking several factors here, I am not savvy on how competitive sports work in any regard.

That's true they're not, but we're not just talking about men vs women, we're talking about people born male who are taking hormone treatments which biologically change them.
You have to take that into account, biology is what matters here. Do trans women who have had female hormones for over a year still have an advantage? I don't know, but the doctors on the IOC don't seem to think so, and any argument against that is going to have to be based in biology.
We're not talking about typical men vs women, we're talking about otherwise biological males with female hormones.

Taking medicine will never 100% transform a woman into a man or vise versa. This is not just chemicals. This is GENES. A man will never completely transform into a woman because according to their genes, the proteins and hormones they produce and the morphology of their body come from the DNA in their body. That's something you can never change. I agree it's a difficult situation because a trans girl is not equal to a woman, but also not a man. Not sure how to go about it.

He is pretty moderate. You're probably left-wing, so I can imagine it would be hard to see through his criticism of the left-wing, but he also criticizes the right-wing a hell of a lot.
I am pretty center, but more left leaning. He seems to be right around where I am in terms of political viewpoint, but even with that considered, he manages to leave his opinion completely outside of the topic until he explicitly introduces it with a phrase like "and here's my opinion on this story."
There are tons of right-wingers in his audience, just as there are left-wingers. That's the beauty of the thing. If it were any other way, then the conversation would slowly drift from slight bias to echo chamber, which helps nobody. This spectrum of thought and opinion makes the community behind this channel something to be respected: it's a thoughtful and encouraging room for discussion from both sides that leads to everyone having a broad understanding of what's happening in the world around them.

What people need to realize about the Fallon Fox situation is that she hid the fact that she was born a man. Just some food for thought as that part is always glossed over. I'm down for trans people in athletics until it comes to combat sports. If the women who fight a trans MMA fighter know of their opponent's history and consent, then that's their choice. I still think that with the male structure and the fact that the effects of testosterone are permanent even post transition, that combats sports should not be putting people in situations that would not be safe. There's a reason why performing enhancing drugs are not allowed in combat sports. Its not bigotry, its about safety.

Well... Some changes that testosterone does are permanent... Like vocal chords thickening... But muscles, bones, neuronal and other changes like those actually are not permanent...
If you investigate trans people, you will notice that trans women lose alot of their muscle mass, the only real advantages they have are the bone density... Wich is a bit more usually, but not always... And its within the range of what a woman with thick bones might have... The types of muscle fibers... Wich would be more fast twitch and less slow twitch... Wich means they can punch or kick a little harder but gas out waaay faster(and black girls have more or less about the dame amount of fast twitch muscles than a trans white girl... So that is not that much of a difference) The bone structure... Wich means they can punch and choke harder, but kicking, throws, trips and many other techniques that use the hip mass are weaker than cis women... And the "satelite cells" wich is something that steroid users who used in the past and stopped have too... It is what is used for muscle recovery from training mostly... Means they can train a little bit harder... But usually the difference is not much... Because of that, no one cares if you used steroids once as long as you dont keep using them in sports...

  • @craftymiscreant5748
    @craftymiscreant5748 Před 7 lety +190

The main reason I'm staunchly against the Trans boy being allowed to wrestle in a girl's competition and vise versa: The average testosterone for girls around the ages of 16-17 is about 50 nanograms (ng) per deceletre (dl)
The average, minimum requirement in hormone replacement therapy for
girls transitioning to boys (especially for the average 17 year old teen
boy) is approximately on average 800 ng/dl. 50 ng/dl to 800 ng/dl. You're looking, at low end, 8 to 10 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF MORE TESTOSTERONE PUMPED INTO THAT TRANS BOY. This is literally a super human competing against a girl.
Don't believe me? Men on steroids have about 3,000 ng/dl. They have 3
times the amount of testosterone of the average man on a strong day. We
complain about this in sports, since it gives them an unfair advantage.
Pitting the trans boy against girls Is astronomically more in terms of
the same ratio. It isn't about "acceptance." It's about not letting a
testosterone pumped trans boy steam roll through "her" weight class.
And this is only taking into consideration "her" strength. People on
testosterone have bigger bone density, more robust ligaments, bigger
brains, and so on. This isn't trans phobia. This is pointing out the insanity which is now the left. Pure insanity.

I remember seeing a video of a female body builder talking about how hard it was to get her body, she said even with drugs and training every day it took her 3 years to get the same body as a male who could achieve the same body in without drugs and half the training in less than a year.
This video had to do with gender equality comparing a male to a female body.

I think that people really need to take this trans acceptance in sports slow. Equality is always wanted, but you also need to maintain an equal playing ground. You can't rush into this without properly structuring the rules and requirements and taking the accounts of competitors into consideration.

That's what I am thinking. As of right now, the only solution I see is to have an entirely separate league for trans players. It's not the best solution, but until a better one presents itself, what choice is there?

It's the same in the US Army. The standards for men are set higher than for women, because it's natural that men have more muscle and bone strength than a woman. And I agree, I think it's quite unfair. I also don't think it would be pleasant for a woman wrestler to compete against a transgender man, for obvious reasons.

As Mr. Rogers said, when the world seems cold and and unfriendly, look for the helpers. Those who take action to try and help those around them. That's what Tobias Elwood did. He took action to try and protect another life.
Those are the people who exemplify the best of humanity, to not turn and run, but to jump into the fray and lend whatever they can in the most devastating moments. The bystanders at the monument in Ottawa who fought to keep the wounded reservist alive after he was shot outside of Parliament, the people who rushed to the World Trade Center, the people who stood for hours outside blood donor clinics after the shooting in Orlando. These are the kind of people we should honor. It's who we should all aspire to be in the moment, to have the courage to be a difference maker.

I don't know what his politics are but the action to go and help someone rather than take shelter shows good moral calibre and restores some of my faith in the politicians of my country. I may find the many to be complete tosspots but it ones that do things like this as well as those that go to as many meetings in the house of commons as possible that help restore a tiny bit of faith in humanity.

Chameleonred5 I'm stealing the first half of this.
In regards to the second, it could just be they are legitimately into the sport, they still had to work hard to win, maybe not as hard but still harder than most of us work for things, it's not like they just show up and boom win, it takes practice in some sports it's more than physical strength, there is a level of mental strength and dexterity/coordination required also in most things, also some women are naturally born with higher levels of testosterone, some compete, they don't always win. I'm sure there were other trans people who lost in these competitions, it's silly to think they went in thinking I will always win.

I know it's easy to criticize people for not calling the police on crimes or potential crimes they see on social media, but if you've ever tried to contact the police about a crime or a threat that's happening to someone you know in another state, especially if you got the info from social media, you'll already know that the cops do NOT take you seriously. At all. Nor do many family members, especially if they don't know you (which is more than likely.) Sending the link to the mom was probably the best course of action anyone could have taken. I'm glad they found the girl.

I don't think that really applies here, seeing how it was a live stream, it was happening in real time. So even if the act was staged, it still should of been investigated. Since it was on facebook, I'm sure enough information was there for police to work off of. Those 40 were both perverts and cowards, with the one sending the pics to the mom having only the slightest redemption of quality.
