He has a woodwind voice. There's so much resonance and complexity in his voice, especially in his lowest range.
He really does have a woodwind kind of resonance. It's like a bass clarinet, despite what the previous comment says. It's not always autotune/pitch. Sometimes it's just recording in an actual soundbooth
And in higher register it's still beautiful and dense.

Bass voices have been essential in opera for centuries, but were not often lead. This musician has a liquid upper range, but that bass resonance!! Wonderful! Passing this on to my musician friends.
First thing I thought was, he must have been an opera singer.
I like this way much better than the Disturbed version, which I don’t like at all.

Bass singers like Bobby definitely deserve more credit and spot light, his range is incredible and I can't get enough of his voice

Check out a young guy named Livingston. He is amazing. The first song I heard was so good, I gobbled up content for a couple of hours. Some of his stuff is a little dark, but his message is really deep. Just an amazing voice. And really polished performer. I wonder who is backing him...... cuz in a few years he went from a shy kid to someone who could, and SHOULD be the next "IT" thing.

I had trouble finding the "Like" button through my tears. I didn't think Disturbed's cover of this song could be made even better. Then an angel decided to have a go at it.

I spent the whole afternoon listening to this song sang by several singers and my eyes were filled with tears. At 71, I never tire of hearing it!
Same! Age 74 here and this rendition is marvelous. In the 60’s when it was sung by Simon and Garfunkel it had the same magical quality. One of my forever favorites. Brings back a lot of precious memories and this version just enhances that sense.

Yeah that's what stands out the most, I feel like most basses have such booming voices the soft palate is tough to get. Challenging for me sounding this soft so low. I'm sure Bobby can sound boomy also, but this one really shows off how good a singer he is. I believe the soft singing comes with time though, when you develop strength, it gives the ability to do it effortlessly like Bobby. Awesome job!

Unbelievable how you can go that low and sound that smooth and clean, and then hit the higher notes without allowing any decline of the quality in your voice. Amazing range and amazing vocals my friend. Keep doing what you do! We are all here for it! ❤
Autotune?
@@brenthultine8629 bass voices tend to distort badly with autotune. I didn't catch the normal little distortions you get even on a normal voice (I tend to be sensitive to autotune) so if it was used then it was very sparingly
@@brenthultine8629 autotune will get you on the closest right note, it doesn't materially increase your range.
@@MacNerferIt also doesn't fix vowel issues, mouth shaping problems, and a long list of other things. Bobby is a real singer, so good, but it's also not crazy to ask a question like this so I can understand. On top of his range, it all sounds like his tessitura, meaning he sounds awesome everywhere... I can hit like four octaves but it's tough to get them to sound like one voice, Bobby deserves more attention!
@@brenthultine8629 There is so much else he is doing right, that even if he was using auto tune (which is much harder for a bass so unlikely here), I wouldn't care either way. He may be using it at higher notes, but honestly he has been singing a long time. Geoff Castellucci says he can do as many as 70 takes to get it right. If you're a good singer, you will nail the pitch at least one of those times. I really think it's more the phrasing that takes him longer, and really capturing so many different singing styles. These guys all deserve more attention, it's awesome to see them blowing up relatively compared to before the last couple years.

Yeah, that's the most impressive thing. A lot of bass singers are really truggling with higher ranges (and the other way). Bobby is amazing at bass, but also able to reach quite high while still sounding really smooth and clean.

This is great. I liked literally everything: music, vocals, acting, the chosen location, the picture. Such a small thing, but it was probably chilly and you can see steam coming out of mouth, which looks cool and very atmospheric.
