Making the case for Biodiversity: South Africa's national asset

SANBI has embarked upon an exploratory process that is searching for the correct vehicles and messaging for conveying to decision makers the value of South Africa's biodiversity. Facilitating this process is Mike Freedman of Freedthinkers, who, in close communication with SANBI's Kristal Maze, Chief DIrector of the Biodiversity Mainstreaming Division, is helping SANBI to find the right hooks with which to engage government officials and politicians in the ever increasingly critical debate about sustainabiity of the human habitat. We are not going to win the argument if we leave out the mainstays of the developmental economy, but somehow we have to find the the correct balance in he equation of biodiversity AND development.
