Just did this on my Tj. FYI an inch and 5/16 socket fits perfect inside these freeze plugs. Works a treat!

I got this tool off of Amazon and it looks like im having the same kind of lucky you had. Looks like ill be sending this back. Removal with a punch and slide hammer then installing with a socket and a hammer.
Yeah, poor condition aside I figured it would be a huge help in the tight spots but I don't think the threads are big enough for the tool to work as intended. Maybe someone will figure out a better way someday. Thanks for watching, have a good one
