I'm from Finland! (Now in London.) You should definitely visit. People love Lapland in the winter, and it is magical, but Helsinki is lovely in the summer. If you go, visit the island of Suomenlinna off the coast of Helsinki & the national library Oodi. Also, highly recommned experiencing Finnish summer cabin vibes by either renting a place or going to a resort like Järvisydän or a hotel like The Barö. 😊
One day, one day. It’s definitely on my list of places to go. I think it looks amazing. Also think would be a very me place… no idea why that is, yet I think it. Hahaha.
Hello Simon. The only problem with watching other CZcamsrs channels is that it only increases the tbr. So many books and so little time! Happy reading to you.

I picked up Rosewater at the Aesop Free Queer Library at the end of June and I was already massively excited to read it, but now even moreso!

I can’t wait for what she writes next. I have a (very silly) rule that I have to love three of an authors books for them to be a favourite… so no pressure on the next one.
This is the year that Irish fiction has me in a stronghold also 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮, aiming to truly visit very soon 😉.
Honestly it just has me gripped. I’m worried what may happen when I’m there with all those Irish bookshops and Irish books!

Always a massive fan of Irish literature, so will definitely be checking out Caroline O'Donoghue! And I absolutely loved The Death of Vivek Oji (devastating, but beautiful), so I can't wait to get my hands on Little Rot.

Irish authors lead my fave books of the year every year. This year, Alan Murrin is in the forefront with “The Coast Road” followed closely by Orla Owen’s “Christ on a Bike.”🚲
I have both of those on my TBR, I’m even more excited to read them now.

The Rachel Incident was one of my best books of 2023. It was brilliant on audio. Chandelier takes on a whole new meaning.❤
I cannot believe I’ve still not read Orbital. She on me. I love her writing soooo much. The God of the Woods I want the US edition of, so adds to my ever growing list of reasons to go back to NYC this year or early next year.
Im busy reading The Story of the Night Colm Toibin irish fiction. I think the lovely louise recommemded it 😊❤

Can’t remember if you’ve read Golden Child by Claire Adam. It takes place in Trinidad. One of my favorite books in the year I read it (2019, I think).
It’s a pity about the dog violence Hungry Ghosts. That makes it a no for me. I can’t imagine the scenario where this type of violence is necessary for plot/character development, so it defaults to gratuitous for me. You’ll tell me that’s not the case and that’s fine. It’s just a shame I won’t be able to read what sounds like a promising book otherwise.
I shall give Golden Child a whirl as I haven’t read it but have heard brilliant things about in from lots of lovely people including your good self now, maybe that’s one for my BookTube holiday break. Sorry if I’ve put you off Hungry Ghosts but think it’s totally worth forewarning, some of book club were quite affected by it.
I knew you were about to hold up The Rachel Incident. That friendship between Rachel and James was so well- written.
It’s was soooo beautifully and deftly done.
