Hello engineers, welcome to the video tutorial of GIS Integration in Water Hydraulics model in Water Infra Suite. You can both Import & Export Shapefiles in Water Hydraulics.
    Importing GIS Data| Shape Import
We recommend that you import separate shapefiles for each modelling element: Junction, Pipe, PRV, PSV, TCV, GPV, FCV, Tank, Reservoir & Pumps. First, you need to select the modelling element you would like to bring into your water model. Select the respective Shapefile.
Click on Shape Import Icon in Water Hydraulics windows to open the Shape Import window.
Click on the Add button, select the Shapefiles path, click the Open button, and Import the Shapefile.
Import all the required shapefiles with similar steps.
Each Shapefile should have its Reference files. That is, for Node - Node.shp, Node.dbf and Node.prj Files are required. Without reference Files, data software will not import data.
After importing the Shape File, Select the respective entity type and click on Apply.
In the example below, Node.shp file is mapped to Junctions.
When you click on the apply button, it will list all properties of junctions.
You have to link each Shape Field for respective node properties. You can refer to the Header name as in Shapefile in Data Tab.
In this example, you can watch Linking Junction properties with Shape Fields.
Similarly, you have to map all Shapefiles with respective shape fields.
Now you are watching another example in which mapping of 'Shape fields' is done with Pipe entity Properties.
Once all Shapefiles are assigned with required properties, set 'Tolerance' and click on the Import button to import shapefiles. The software will process all shapefiles data and import the network model.
    • Clear Existing Network: If you select this check box, previously imported networks will be deleted and create a new network will be created.
    • Selected File: If you choose this check box program will process only selected shapefiles
    • Tolerance: Software will use check entities within given Tolerance, and it will group those entities.
Select the options as per your project requirement and import the data. Now the network is imported to the modelling window, as shown below.
If you want to import Patterns and Curve from the Shapefile, then respective Patterns and Curves are created in the ESurvey Hydraulics Patterns and Curve library.
Exporting GIS Data - Shape Export.
After Hydraulic Design, go to the Water Hydraulics screen if you want to export design data to Shapefile. Click the mouse right button, select the Table menu item, and select entities like Junctions, Pipe, Pump, Valve, Tank, and Reservoir. 'Bulk Edit Node' window will Open. If you want to export selected column properties to Shape from the table, click on the Column button.
It will open the 'Select columns' window. You can choose columns you want to export and click on the apply button in this window.
Then click on the Shape button in the export group.
Select the location and give the file name to save the Shapefile.
The program will export Shapefile and related files to the selected folder.
In this video, you have learned how you can easily import and export shapefiles in Water Hydraulics Module.
