I learnt my Hebrew with a traditional accomplished / unaccomplished understanding, not past present or future. As an unaccomplished, yiktol, the translation into European languages may be a future, conditional, subjunctive, optative. I think it applies well here: English may not have too many options to describe an action that did not take place (unaccomplished). A conditional works well, the past tense is somewhat inaccurate (without inducing a misleading nuance though). Might or may can’t render the idea dynamically. Subjunctive in English is unclear (God bless you - unaccomplished / God blesses you - accomplished).
