We live in a world filled with suffering, where attempts to help have been split into largely separate scientific and spiritual communities. As a spiritually engaged neuroscientist I hope to communicate how these seemingly separate world views can be reconciled. I produce weekly videos on topics at the intersection of neuroscience and wellbeing, including consciousness, meditation and psychedelic science.

I’ve just recently discovered your channel and your talks have rapidly advanced my understanding of computational neuroscience. I’m hoping to see more from you on psychedelics and the brain as a world building machine. If possible, a full lecture would be greatly appreciated.

I am just an ordinary lay person who has a keen interest in all of the wisdom presented in this conversation. This is the most lucid, brilliant, useful, potent, illuminating, awakening conversation that I have ever had the good fortune to witness. As I write this thank you, I am experiencing a thrilling "attentional freedom" that is noticing the vastness of the infinitely dynamic awareness phenomenological state space as I prepare to work with my houseplants and then mow the yard here in Iowa. I would love to attend a conference wherein we micro-dose psychedelics, meditate, and enjoy attentional freedom and conversation, co-chaired by James and Shamil!

Thank you so much, Shamil! This is such important work. And it was beautifully articulated. Well done!

This is one of, if not the, best description I've ever heard for the jhanas and non-dual awareness. I first heard you on the Making Sense podcast, and have since been watching all of your videos. I finally feel as though I can understand the fundamentals of the free energy principle. I really look forward to engaging with more of your content. I feel like you bring a new understanding to these topics like no one else in the meditation space, and I hope more people take notice.
On a side note: I'm a longtime practitioner of qigong, who does not believe in vital forces, and I've been exploring the phenomena of qi through these similar ideas, or at least trying to. I would love to hear your thoughts on the ideas and importance of these concepts of qi and prana. I feel like your description of what's happening in the 1st jhana was speaking to that. I will be re-watching this discussion several times. Thank you for your profound insights.

Hi Shamil. Loved this conversation. How would it be possible to reach out to you about my magazine based at the convergence of human creativity and AI tools? If you would be open to it, how could we start the conversation? Kind regards, Daniel.

The first link in the description looks like it never got posted. Is the first talk you mentioned online?
