  • Fall has set in here in Michigan and thoughts of rain, snow, and the freezing cold are upon us. Wouldn't it be nice to hang out in a hot tub on cold winter day and NOT be outside?

Having a hot tub in your house seems like trouble. BUT, your setup does look pretty sweet. And when your child enjoys it as much as she appears to be, it kinda makes it all worth while. Good luck with this one. I hope it works out for you. Go ARMY!

Love it, enjoy. Some multi colored led lights would look fantastic at night and the umbrella is a nice touch. I think you have a drain on the very lowest level of the room, a small pvc pipe thru the brick wall , from the hot tub to the lower level maybe a good insurance policy in case of a leak

Terrific for fighting off ravages of the interior low humidity that comes with cold climate. My only concern for you are the potted plants on narrow "ledge" where one could accidently get knocked off and perhaps injure someone below, or at the least, make very ugly mess. Love the up umbrella; easier on eyes when sitting at table plus it just gets umbrella out of the way :) NICE!

I once enjoyed a wood fired hot tub 50 miles into the interior of the peaks of a mountain range in 8 feet of snow during a blizzard. It was during a snowmobile journey and stop over at an outfitters cabin through the Sawtooth's. It was magical and the idea of recreating it in someway is amazing. I thing having a nice pump, hose and absorbents on standby is a good preparation for if something were to fail and some sort of exhaust fan with a gate and a timer may help if the humidity becomes an issue. Cool stuff! :)

I will admit I didn't read through all you comments but, being a crazy plant lady I will say this: grow lights. Even though you are opening your roof panels to the sky, some of your plants, especially the citrus need more hours of daylight than you are going to get. LED grow lights are awesome though generally need to be closer to the plants than traditional power hungry older options. If you install any grow lights outfit your family with protective glasses which will only lend to the "summer" experience. Lights can be put on an inexpensive timer to extend the day the plants need to thrive. Maybe, you've already thought of this. We're always in a time lag as viewers. Love your channel. I find you inspiring. Carry on brother. Hope to meet you in person one day! God bless you and yours. Much Love.

    Hi Todd,
well we have a hot tub 95% the same as yours, and we have had it inside in the winter,
Humidity: yes, even with the cover, the humidity will go up., and some condensation on the windows.
Tbf, we did not heat with wood, which I think will help you , and we did not have such a large space like your
atrium, which will help. Just something to keep an eye on.
2nd point was the chemicals in the water; that smell is concentrated in the enclosed space of the house,
and you will really notice it after a week or two.. that cover is not air-tight.
It was no problem for me, however my wife did complain about it. I guess it will depend how sensitive
    everyone is.
Our solution was simply to schedule 2-3 evenings where we would actively use the hot tub,
and then drain it for the week or two we would not use it.
    Just being organized..
I hope it works out, it looks great being inside.... just wait for when it is snowing outside,
nothing better to put a smile on your face.

  • @kirsten4896

My only hesitation about something like this would be the halogen bromine that is released into the air in your house that you are constantly breathing from the hot tub chemicals. Very difficult on the body, especially the thyroid. If you already supplement with a good quality iodine like Lugols or a nascent iodine like detoxadine, it might be okay but it also could be very overwhelming still to breathe that in all day and all night. Especially considering you guys have had an issues with water problems in your house I think it might be a wise option to have some kind of a tray with a drainage system in case of leakage, or at least a tray by itself, much like what is used under washing machines. Perhaps set up a water sensor that could alert you if water started leaking into the tray. I'd hate for an insurance company to deny a claim on the grounds an appliance was used indoors that was strictly for outdoor use.

I don’t know anything about the subject or hot tubs, but I’m thinking I want to buy one of those. Can’t afford a fiberglass one. So ok, you just sit on the bottom of it? Does it get uncomfortable sitting that way? I would set mine on sand I think.
