It’s a miracle all the passengers survived, no thanks to the Captain and his cowardly crew who left them for dead. The heroes of this disaster were Moss Hills (a guitarist 🎸) and Julian Butler (a magician). They helped save all the passengers lives, an they’re the true heroes of the oceanos sinking.
"I've got a message for the captain but the captain isn't here. He's probably throwing all that luggage in a boat to disappear. We're drinkin water like a fish and now there's nowhere we can go! There's a man who plays guitar with a brave heart leadin under tow. O~ceanos, there's my ship, rollin down. O-o-o~ceanos. Two by two, we leave the bow..."
Not discussed, but surely worth noting is that the Captain and many officers and crew abandoned the ship first, giving no warning to passengers. A guitarist from one of the lounge acts, Moss Hills, went to the bridge to find it abandoned. He used the radio to coordinate the rescue effort and was one of the last to leave the ship.
There have been a couple of documentaries where this was discussed at length (“Why Ships Sink” comes to mind), and it’s a very interesting case.
The Captain’s behavior was reprehensible; I’m grateful for Hills’ calmness under extreme pressure. It’s mostly thanks to him that nobody died.
Moss Hills is a hero. Not many people can be like him.
Respect.
That’s incredible all 571 passengers were saved, many via helicopter, quite a rescue!

One fun fact is one the Oceanos, when the ship began to sink most of the passengers didn't pay much attention and were mostly unaware that a disaster was coming.

When I see stuff like this, it makes me wonder if all the water was drained away from the planet, how many boats, ships and planes would we see littering what was once the ocean floor? (And don't get me started with the area and The Bermuda Triangle and The Mariana Trench.)

Not to be rude but, this is basically just Costa Concordia in 1991. But, the Concordia crew was a little bit nicer compared to the Oceanos crew.
