I had a nasty note left on my conversion van when I was legally parked in a space in my employers parking lot. Some people just hate vans.

Unless there are parking restrictions such as yellow lines, signs saying residents only etc etc then they cannot stop you parking there as long as your vehicle is road legal

Its alot harder doing vanlife when your a single woman due to safety, however I have a large german shepherd, she is good security, but i still would not park in unsafe areas or secluded car parks. Parked in supermarket car parks and had no issues. I found parking on the road next to parks was the best, so not directly outside peoples properties. I used to only part in an area for one night, never really had problems with the neighbours, but i didnt do vanlife for long and decided to get a caravan on live on a caravan site.. However some people are curtain switchers; busy bodies, and karens in the world, you will always get that sadly. However stay safe and happy travelling x

Don't worry about the note you had on the motorhome; I think there will always be people like that. It was a wide road and you weren't in anyone's way. They actually did not have any right to do that and you were a good distance from the houses. Never mind. Just carry on and I am going to watch some more of your channel. You gotta understand that a letter on window is like receiving an anonymous threat letter through your letter box its horrible to be on the receiving end and they usually has a misunderstanding of the law I wish we could educate them but I don't know how prejudice and discrimination is how it feels

Don't believe all thats said. Camping / Sleeping/ Living call it what you like is not parking. Park leave the van stay overnight somewhere else fine if taxed mot'd etc. The laws changed and sadly each and everyone who pushes their luck spoils it for others. Why for instance does the front row parking at coast exclude MH's Great video & good on you, don,t risk the cam belt, stay away from residential areas, keep playing, enjoy.
front row at coast is because most MHs are tall & block the view for everyone else.
@@alanhat5252 my point is a whole row of vans would be fine. As long as they had no beds in them or a cooker or awning bolted to the side. Then they would be classed as a MH. The point also is no one owns the view. When you pay to park a view is not a condition or terms of parking. However when some people do something that others dislike "likeminded" folk rally against folk and a leve, prejudice enters the equation. Never anything to do with actual law. If you visit somewhere in your vehicle which happens to be a van which also happens to be converted to enable you stay over night why should you be made to park somewhere else? If the vehicle is legal If should have the same right as others. Mainly on a first come basis. However if you park sideways or in 2 bays or you empty contents by the side that prevents others that is not allowed. Sleeping or camping or overnight stays require the permission from the landowner. That is the law. As many have ignored / broken this fact small "armies" now prevent all perceived participants of a said pastime. Acting respectfully doesn't mean doing what others tell you to do just because they don't like it. However knowing what the right thing to do is.

I love that you loved my personal sunsets at West Bex- I live at the top of the hill there! And you can definitely park outside our cottage for FREE any time you're passing. Sorry that a Karen or Ken gave you a bad impression of Bridport folk.Also there's loads of free parkups around West Bay and the coast road and Wednes and Saturday market days are good for busking. Hi, I do wild camping as well and never go into residential areas as it does irritate people and stopping for more than a night is defo a no go. Doing so gives us motor homers a bad name. People don’t even like motorhomes in your own driveway. Just started watching your channel.

If you need a park up near bridport got to eype its a rest area quiet toilets and small cafe sandwich place west bay is expensive to park 15 quid for motorhomes we go after 6 it's free and there is a tap by harbour in front off the cafe near the boats and there is toilets a laminated don't park here only vanlife royalty get them lol 😂 if the weather is good get yourself down to charmouth for a beach day fossil hunt great vid all the best donny x

Definately moaners, but you're always going to upset residents parking with houses overlooking. Try and find somewhere more remote with no houses. I like to wild camp but wouldn't have parked there near those houses.

Theres a guy who parks his traffic van outside my nxt door neighbours house when he finishes work. She doesn't know him i think the people who live at the bottom of the road know him because he arrives in his car in the morning parks it near their house then gets in the van and goes to work. Its not illegal to park his van up even though he doesn't live on our street !😂 cheeky sod its a public highway and he's not blocking a driveway, so don't worry about that note.

As someone else has said, parking is not covered by the same law as overnight sleeping. Simply having paid you road tax does not entitle you to sleep in any place you can legally park up. Even laybys with sleeping lorry drivers may be out of bounds for motorhome people wanting a cheap overnight stay. Edit: after doing some more reading I'm not even sure that all those sleeping lorry drivers you see parked up in laybys are on the right side of the law. probably just too much hassle to enforce the legislation.

I bought a tiny trailer once and one of my neighbours complained the first day it was parked there the council came and covered it in stickers and it damaged all my paint work 🤦🏻♀️ I had no plan to leave it there it was just until I got storage within a few days. It was causing no obstruction whatsoever it was outside my home. That just taught me British people will just be British 😂

I sometimes stealth camp or "vamp" in my non converted Combo van. No windows or any clue I'm in it! I have learned to park near other vehicles off the main roads and to enter and leave the van discreetly. Police etc must pass and think it's somebody's work van. I have parked on country lanes in the past. Police have rudely awoken me twice, at 2am in the middle of friggin nowhere! Ignore the clowns is my advice!

I generally only spend one night in one spot, arrive after dark if possible and try to park at the side of a house if in a residential area. Keep doing what you're doing ☺️☺️ We only live once x
Oh it was mad weather wasn't it!! My general rule of thumb is to only stay one night anywhere. But this was an expecting because I didnt really want to drive in those condition mainly. It seemed like such a quiet road and I wasn't taking up a parking space for anyone living there 🤷 I really didn't expect a notice! Haha

But also, also a lot of retirees by the looks of the bungalows ….. I’m definitely not saying all of the same, but some older generation do struggle with people parking within eyesight of their properties, particularly a camper, which is a topical issue for many.
I remember I was working for a client who was around 80, and his front garden was about 50 foot long to the road and someone came and parked outside his house and there was plenty of room for everyone to get in and out. No problem. … but my client went flying out there in a range to move that person just laughable…..

Wondered where this video was going, then I saw a bourbon being dunked and suddenly it didn't matter. Apart from being a bit close to the junction, I see nothing wrong with parking there. I love that someone went through the trouble of printing and laminating a sign but was far too busy to approach you like a normal person and have a human conversation. I'd have stayed another 2 nights and left the sign where it was, as though I hadn't seen it. They could have been more pleasant with their objection. But I guess, you're on your own so probably best to react as you see fit; laugh it off and move along. "W⚓S!"

I’m not sure what the difference is between van lifers and gypsie/travellers? Gypsies have suffered discrimination for ever, they are moved on by the local authorities constantly their life is made very difficult by everyone. Why would people treat van lifers any different? You aren’t paying local council taxes either but are happy to use the services which is the argument used against gypsy travellers. It’s quite understandable people get upset when you camp outside their front window in my opinion, I wouldn’t want to look out on a van.

Try not to Park near peoples 🏡. Especizlly for 2 nights 🤦♀️ Remember they have safety concerns too and what you doing is illegal. We park in remote areas, park ups, wooded areas even supermarkets and sometimes an actual caravan park. Even though the laws are more relaxed here we don't want to p off the locals and we always spend money in the community we park up in as a thankyou.
Hey, I don't feel I was close to any houses. Not even on the same side of the road as me. Parking in car parks is probably more of a saftey risk 😊 Obviously with more of a choice on parking areas I'd rather be somewhere more secluded but thats not always the case. If they had just knocked and explained I would have been polite and asked if they knew of anywhere else I could park and happily moved on. Putting money into the community is always a good idea, I love going to cafes and small run shops 💛💛

Total nonsense. If your vehicle is taxed and insured and there are no parking restrictions ie signs or lines then park where and when you want. Otherwise if you are considerate as far as no noise you could be a neighbour with a new van. Who could know different.

You definitely were close to houses. I can understand why the residents were annoyed. It would freak me out if someone in a mobile home parked up opposite me as who knows who is inside. Residential areas are not the place for vanlife

Shame we can’t hear you sing. Parking in urban areas is really the best place parking in remote places in the country is dangerous. Also offends local people and farmers. It’s obvious that vans have parked there before that person has put that note on other vehicles just a miserable person but I was best to move and keep the peace.
I might put some originals out soon! There's a few bits here and there of me singing in some videos.

I was lucky enough to get some early inheritance and bought the motorhome. Renovated it after selling my microcamper and I busk for a living so barely finance anything 😂 but I'm living the dream nonetheless 💛

Perhaps you would have been better off if you had used the inheritance as a deposit for a house that you bought with a mortgage and financed with conventional employment and a lodger or two? And you are hardly living the dream in the UK in winter. Having made your choice you should really live the dream and travel around Europe making the most of Schengen 90/180 limit. Winter on the Med. The Algarve and Costa del Sol come to mind, but I can recommend Sardinia. And summer in Scandinavia. It's a vast, varied amazing place in summer.
@@grahamcook9289 the inheritance was only enough to buy the van. I'm living MY dream. I don't want a house at this moment of my life, not sure I ever will and if I did, I wouldn't be able to afford a mortgage... The van is warmer than any house I've lived in, haha I have heating 😊 I can't wait to get abroad in the van, we all start somewhere!

@@alanhat5252 For fultime van lifers it is less than ideal, but it just means you have to get creative. Spend time in non-Schengen countries such as: Morocco, Turkey, Bosnia, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, North Cyprus, Georgia. And perhaps at some future point Kaliningrad, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine?
