    I wanted to tell you, in case you've never heard of it, about Cornell barbecue sauce. We do a lot of grilling and use it quite often. I changed the original recipe to make it perfectly keto: eggs, pink salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, light olive oil and organic apple cider vinegar. It's a no carb way to flavor up chicken on the grill.

    Ah, cabbage! The unsung hero of my kitchen. Am so over the cauliflower as a "rice" substitute. I use cabbage like everyone uses cauliflower. A great side for keto is creamed cabbage, a Chinese style slaw with rice vinegar and sesame oil, augratin, I eve n combine it with the cauliflower mash for colcannon (irish) or bubble and squeak (english). I am ordering your book as a birthday present for myself. I love watching your videos. While I'm clicking on your posts I am saying "Y'all, what is Wes doing now". Love your energy, your smile and your wink!

    Two of the things I like best about this book is that I don’t have to run around looking for weird ingredients and none of the recipes I’ve tried have taken a long time to prepare. Mr Wes, you gotta try the pokè out there! It’s almost as good as Hawaii's!

    I know you cooked these to promote your book…which looks awesome BTW, but it is refreshing to see you cook food that is real in its own right and not trying to be a keto version of something high carb. Don’t get me wrong, I love love love watching your low carb battles, and I definitely think there is a need for those kind of recipes, but I have always had the best luck on keto/low carb by keeping it as clean and simple as possible. I think it would be great for you to feature some back to the basics type videos that focus more on techniques for cooking meat and vegetables so that they taste the best vs elaborate low carb comfort foods and sweets. I watch for you just as much as I do the food, and I’m sure with your killer charm and sense of humor, that you could make cooking anything fun. I hope I am making sense! Keep up the great work; you’re my favorite and very best 😉

      Thank you so much, Bunny! To be honest, the vast majority of the book is simple, back-to-basic recipes that are easy and sustainable. I try to eat that way more often than not. I will admit that the “keto-fied” recipes of sweets and snacks GREATLY outperform versus other simpler foods when it comes to CZcams, perhaps because that’s what people are searching most for.
      But I think a Back To The Basics series would perform well and is a great idea!

    I read your cookbook... Around here, $8 a day is for gasoline, which is truck food. Ketogenic Diet is $2.50 or less a day because hunting and fishing provide the bulk of my meat supply. I completely enjoy the larger recipes, they will be great for the holidays!

    I made the green bean recipe right away when I got the book. I can’t believe I never thought of the combo before! My favorite side is Green Beans Almandine. And I frequently make a summery salad with green beans and halved cherry tomatoes. I can’t imagine why I never thought of sort of combining the two!
    I’m not a cabbage fan (except in cole slaw and once a year with corned beef in colcannon) so I’ll skip that one, but can’t wait to work my way through the book!
    Glad the move went smoothly and you look right at home in the new kitchen! Also so happy for you that the book is such a success! You deserve that!🌸💕🌸

    Green beans are also gorgeous roasted with garlic oil and seedy mustard😋. Your sides look yummy but theyd be a lot of my limited carb budget so I'd probably do one cabbage steak as 2-3 serves

      Ooh, that sounds delicious, too! I figure that if I’m limiting myself to 20 net carbs a day, I can do bacon and eggs for breakfast, a piece of grilled chicken and a serving of green beans for lunch, a nice steak with a cabbage steak for dinner and I’ll still be at 14-15 carbs and can use the other 5 for snacks, other sides, or “oopsies.” 👍🏻🙂

    I have a Corning dish that browns in the microwave that I use to brown slivered almonds for green bean almandine. It does the job quickly and adds a bit of delicious butter to the green beans.

    I just started eating keto and IF 4 weeks ago...found your channel about 10 days in and immediately bought your cookbook!     Congrats on the book! I wanted the spiral book, but it's not on amazon UK. :( I bought the Kindle, but I'll be ordering the spiral-bound when I'm in the US next month!

      Nice! Thanks for both! I’ve ordered the spiral, too! Apparently, this isn’t something my publisher offers. This appears to be a service that will purchase the book from Amazon, cut it, bind it in spiral, and ship to you. I usually do that at Office Depot or Kinkos (especially with piano music) but I’m curious to see how this one is, plus I’ll be using it so often for reference, I want a spiral version. 🙂

    Many thanks for writing the book. I bought the Kindle edition. I love the cabbage side which I have had several times now. Just one nit-picky thing - Shepherds Pie is made with minced lamb. When it’s made with minced beef it’s called Cottage Pie. I look forward to trying a lot more of those recipes. Many thanks.

    This is my favorite way to eat cabbage. What's great about roasting veggies in the oven is they retain their flavor better than with boiling.

    I've made both. Tip for rewarming the cabbage--brush with more oil or they will get crisp.
    Wes, the recipe book doesn't say when to add the tomatoes. Glad you did the video.
    Both recipes call for twice as much salt as I like.

    I like to use a quick spritz of liquid smoke on my cabbage to mimic the smoked cabbage I loved from the Memphis area.
