      I think that's just a marketing trick. TS4 doesn't have much too it, so they push what is positive about it, mainly the graphics and try to downplay the fact that the gameplay in TS3 is so much better by far. But really - it's always better to have more and better gameplay than graphics, but I agree with you - the graphics in TS3 is quite nice!

      It’s just variations in taste, which is fine. I do think the Sims 3 Sims look weird, more weird then the Sim 2 Sims who I think are adorable in their own unique way. Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but I love their quirky little faces. I also am happy for sims to look like Sims and not like ‘real people’. I do think the Sims 4 sims are adorable. But I also don’t like photorealistic looks. That being said, I think the overall Sims 3 game is better when playing it. And I’m not like horrified by Sims 3 sims in the middle of gameplay or anything. Once I am outside of CAS they seem fine.

    One thing you might not have emphasized hard enough is that traits are way different in sims 3 then in sims 4. An example would be the sims 3 "Athletic" trait and sims 4 "Active" trait. Something that I always tell TS2/4 players that are trying TS3 for the first time is that they NEED to embrace the open world design. If you haven't played TS3, you may be used to doing most things at your Sim's house, but TS3 being an open world game should be played different. Instead of buying workout equipment and working out at home, you should go to a gym lot and workout there. Instead of eating at home all the time, you should go and eat at a restaurant or diner.

  • @crackbabisims
    @crackbabisims Před rokem +185

    People who say “all sims look the same in TS3” I disagree wholeheartedly. The reason all of your sims look the same is because you only make what you deem attractive. Of course your sims will all look the same if you keep giving them the same “attractive” features. Look up pictures of real people and model them after that photog. I used to make sims that only looked like what I liked, using human models really helped me diversify my sim making. You don’t have to make cookie cutter or potato sims, you can literally make whatever you want don’t limit yourself to the cute nose and big lips. Make some sims with big noses that have bumps and jumps or sims with thin lips maybe even make sim that’s not WHITE.

    • @Rekowcski
      @Rekowcski  Před rokem +35

      I agree with you. The sims 3 sims are actually my favourite. You can give them “weird” features, which are actually NORMAL (most people don’t look like dolls). Most of my sims have big or weird noses, but in different ways. I like how it ends up in future generations.
      Also the skin tone freedom is unmatched, even with the update, all the townies in sims 4 end up as greyish alien skin tones. I try to keep my sims as diverse as possible, but I also like to do elements of fun colours in the hair (and sometimes skin), it’s so fun to see the babies and grandchildren. A little pink in the hair and you remember who the grandmother was

    I write this comment thinking of the Opportunity mechanic in TS3 that I discovered while doing my first play session not too long before seeing this video in my CZcams suggestions.
    Opportunities have been amusing to me thus far because my second ever Opportunity had me befriending someone while in the Criminal Career, and at one point I kept talking to this sim even after she had started complaining about her needs, even accidentally walking into the park bathroom with her after she had finished her business in there to tell her jokes and finish the Opportunity. 🤣😂It reminded me of all the times I've caught sims in TS4 talking in bathrooms. lol 😂
    That Opportunity also began with this girl seeming to have little interest in speaking to my sim as she soon went inside her house and wouldn't answer the door when I rang the doorbell. lol 😂💀💀💀

There are a few things which in my opinion Sims 4 does better - the amazing build tools and options for one though I'm one of the few who isn't bowled over by Sims 4 art style - but overall there's no contest, it's not even close: Sims 3 feels richer, more engaging and has made me care about the stories unfolding the way Sims 4 never quite managed. Sure, it's nice to be easily access lots and sims someone (more talented) created, but the Sims 4 world feels emptier, the interactions less meaningful and even with a LOT of mods the whole world feels skin deep. Contrasted with Sims 3 where I happily followed my favourite families thorugh multiple generations and it still felt fun. Thanks for reminding me - think I'll go and reinstall Sims 3 now :)

    I'm REALLY late to the Sims. Never bothered with it before but I bought a copy and have started playing. A question. It seems like a full time job keeping a sim(s) with energy, hygienic, not needing the toilet, Not hungry and happy etc I spend 80% of the time keeping their needs fulfilled. Is there an easier way! Or do they learn to do these things for themselves after a while? Thank you.

    • @Rekowcski
      @Rekowcski  Před rokem +1

      They never learn to do it themselves but there are so many ways to make it easier (each game is slightly different but they are very similar).
      I will say that each game is easier than the previous for managing needs. Sims 1 it is a nightmare and Sims 4 it's too easy. Sims in Sims 2 and 3 are also quite self-sufficient... they will usually feed themselves, go to work, sleep etc by themselves as long as you give them all the items they need.
      More expensive usually means better ($2000 bed will increase energy faster than the $300 bed)
      Skills can help (higher cooking skill means your meals are faster, or better, or both).
      BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY each game has like a million cheats, so just google what you want done in the game (more money, less money, more needs, kill someone) and there should be a cheat for it.

    I've been playing The Sims since the OG days. The best game was sims makin magic lol if they could bring that to the Sims 3 then the Sims 3 would be the perfect game. TS4 seems so watered down and hollow compared to 3.

    • @melodyseverything6999
      @melodyseverything6999 Před rokem +1

      There's a whole tab in the Lifetime rewards section of your sim that will slow down or stop their needs from dropping, but you have to accrue enough lifetime points to buy them. If you have the NRAAS Relativity mod, you can stop or slow down needs that way too without having to wait to accrue points. I also think there is a mailbox cheat to top up needs as well. Also, there are B/B items that could top up needs as well.

    I will simplify from 25 to 1 thing you need to know which is once you start sims 3 dont look back unless its for sims 2

    • @TheMya1988
      @TheMya1988 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Haha, I totally agree. Whenever I see the latest releases from Sims 4 doc simulator, I watch gameplay from veteran Sims players that give honest reviews (most often the new content is a watered down version of its predecessors). I keep thinking a complete overhaul to Sims 4 may win back some of its veterans, but more and more are dropping like flies.
      Besides, once you see all that is offered in Sims 1-3, you soon realize that all Sims 4 is, is a pretty shell, lacking gameplay, depth and Lore.
      I do love playing Sims 3 for the open world, cont'd Lore, advanced fishing/gardening, new occults/minor pets, etc. I love playing Sims 1 for challenging gameplay, nostalgia, and the best magic system, by far. I also love Sims 2 (my favorite of all), for the best genetics system, more realistic gameplay mechanics, one-sided relationships (which also were in 1, but enhanced further), logical game physics (hair, water, etc.), the best apartment and apartment building system (which creates semi open world, combining aspects of all Sims iterations, with the ability to have up to 4 active families living separately on one apartment/row house lot), also Sims have the absolute best personalities in Sims 2 (unlike 3 and 4, sims gain personality via personality points [which can change over time depending on gameplay, encouraging, occult status, potions,and more], as well as via primary/secondary aspirations (along with their perks), plus their interests (which realistically change through gameplay), along with their wants/fears and turnons/turnoffs, complemented by hobbies, work, school, and uni, continuously allowing personality changes to evolve slowly (for more realistic gameplay) to quick (using aspiration rewards, business/vacation/hobby/uni perks, or mods and cheats). Also, Sims 2 OFB (Open for Business) has the best system for owning any type of businesses (i.e. restaurants, hotels, clothing/grocery/furniture/etc. stores, nightclubs, etc.). World building is also a tool built into the game (creating from scratch or adding details to any and all worlds). Sims 3 has a separate program, that allows even more depth and customization, but it is a behemoth to use, and can be a bit daunting for newer players. Sims 2 details go further than just their world building, as well (i.e. cars have more detailed functioning: sims enter/exit, pull out/pull into driveways/garages, not just teleporting, sims cooking animations are the most indepth, as well, plus so much more). I could go on all day why I find Sims 2 the best, but the biggest reason (for me) is Sims 2 has the absolute best Lore, complete with scripted events, cut scenes, fleshed out back stories wrapped in mystery, along with the best memory system of the series. With added mods and CC, a nearly 20 year old game can be easily transformed into the best graphically designed of all the mainline Sims games. Even machinamas from over a decade ago, still look amazing❣
