Using a wheelchair - How you fold a wheelchair. How you unfold a wheelchair. When the person gets in and out of the wheelchair make sure the brakes are on and the footplates are up. When wheeling a person down a slope, wheel them backwards so you can keep good control of the chair. Talk to the person to let them know what you’re doing and why.
