    In this competition Scott and Tessa presented an excellent performance scheme, with wonderful choreography, masterfully executed, due to the synchrony between them, and between all their movements and the music. It was a shame that the jury considered the need for a small interruption in her performance, probably due to Tessa's muscular problem, in order not to give her first place. After all, there do not seem to have been any errors in her performance, and Tessa's resilience in having decided to continue her performance with Scott should have been considered.

  • @Neejaqueen
    @Neejaqueen Před 11 lety +20

    @Louis Maurati It is something new. Look at the choreography, the movement, the lifts, the modern dance aspects. It's brilliant! This is figure skating, not who chose the best music to skate to.

    :/ Sad to know that the points lost due to the stop is what cost them the championship :( At least they'll know that they lost because of that and not because of the lack of points or something

    • @wandagilbert5385
      @wandagilbert5385 Před 2 lety +1

      Charlie and Meryl were simply better ice dancers!! The "stop" perhaps a ploy for sympathy? SHE had a very STRONG skate afterwards with less than a minute to recover IF there was a real problem.
      They, especially Scott, knew USA team had done better!!
      No matter, all four are now retired.

    • @angelicalicari8355
      @angelicalicari8355 Před 2 lety +12

      @@wandagilbert5385 Dude, it's been well-documented that she had two surgeries on her legs (2011 and 2013, I think?) to relieve intense muscle pain. In their TED talk, she said she could skate 30 seconds at a time before the pain flaired up. When they're standing on the side of the rink, you can see her keeping her weight off of her left leg.
      But yeah, I'm sure 3-time Olympians were just pausing to win sympathy from the notoriously-soft judging panel...

      Angelica, thank you for your reply. I don’t usually call out other people’s comments as idiotic but either that other person’s comment was trolling or they had no idea but still made a stupid comment. Yes, why would a team of that caliber jeopardize their program for “sympathy”.

    Yes, I did realize that they did not get marks off, which I'm really glad they didn't, but in another way, I think that it made them get level 3s instead of level fours... Anyway.... I'm still happy that Meryl and Charlie won, but I would've been even more happier if Tessa and Scott did ;) btw, I don't think the judges were generous.

    What do you mean "points lost due to the stop"? Did you look at the protocols? 2 judges still gave them 9.75 for performance and I believe 3 perfect 10s for timing despite the stop. So you're telling me they lost points, when actually some judges were over generous. There was NO technical deductions!
    They lost fair and square! And the stop is their fault. This is a sport and with any other sports, athletes have to condition their body for a high caliber performance.

    • @lyriccraze4567
      @lyriccraze4567 Před 4 lety +9

      Hmmm. I agree with the first half, but implying that the stop was their fault is a bit too out there. Injuries are, most of the time, out of an athletes hand. You can do anything and everything you can to reduce the possibility, but once injuries happen/develop, you can’t go back in time. The fact that they skated in the first place with this knowledge shows how dedicated they are. Tessa had been suffering from extreme leg cramps due to overtraining and had 2 surgeries to correct it. It looks like there was another painful flare up. In this case, continuing to skate could’ve worsened the situation. You accusing them of not “properly conditioning” their bodies is more a poke at their coaches, who are supposed to take care of their athletes. And they have the same coaches as Davis/White. So yeah, DEFINITELY makes sense to say Davis/White deserved their win and bash their coaches in one.

    • @sarax8474
      @sarax8474 Před 2 lety

      davis and white did deserve this win, especially because the judges were very fair with tessa’s need to stop and they didn’t get any deductions.
      it’s absolutely not tessa’s fault but hardcore v/m stans saying that they lost because of the stop is just plain disrespectful and offensive to d/w, who work just as hard as v/m and dominated the 2 years prior to sochi

  • @jademlhfrl
    @jademlhfrl Před 11 lety +11

    Next time, Charlie and Yuzuru should stop and take some oxygen before going into the final lift or the 3rd quad - they do have well documented Asthma, just like Tessa's leg injury, besides, on site medical examination, or any evidence, for a shop is close to non-existent.
    Acually, there are plenty injuries and conditions, what about menstrual cramp, migraine, lower back pain, they can be severe and require no evidence just like leg cramp, right? Let's be compassionate, stop and rest.

  • @openroad8888

  • @jademlhfrl
    @jademlhfrl Před 11 lety +9

    I hope Tessa is okay, and they probably have a very legitimate reason to stop, but, something needs to be done so it doesn't look like they stopped right before the difficult lift, took a break, drank some water, talked it out with their coach, then redid the lift. no explanation, no announcements, Scott even waved away the camera. This isn't exactly the best moment for secrecy, if you ask me . What about stamina, what about presentation...this surely is't helping the sport's image.

    • @officeaddict33
      @officeaddict33 Před 6 lety +25

      jademlhfrl - First of all, they've done that lift MANY times without a problem. They are specifically known for their difficult lifts. Second, she clearly decided to stop before he even began to lift her.

    • @angelicalicari8355
      @angelicalicari8355 Před 2 měsíci

      She was dealing with a leg injury; I assume Scott waved the camera away to protect her medical privacy. Performers are still entitled to secrecy. The only people they owe an explanation to is the judges, and the judges were clearly satisfied...

  • @miloandtock1
    @miloandtock1 Před 11 lety +3

    There have been lots of variations of Carmen over the years - but this is probably the worst...partially through no fault of their own - they are just accomodating their "dance" to fit the current rules and scoring procedures. Sadly there is little "dancing" in the 70s-80s-90s traditional sense in this program, and little of their program has to do with the story of Carmen or related characters - what they are doing has nothing to do with the music.
