  • From the year of the S10's initial release, this is a fantastic look at a lot of the details, origins and design of the iconic truck. It's also a fascinating look at the truck market of the time, and the unique niche that the venerable S10 sought to fill.
    Recorded from Laserdisc and video will show some signs of laser rot. A few short segments have either been muted or omitted due to the video's inclusion of copyrighted music.

    Ive owned 3 of these trucks. Two Ist gen (old sqaure body) and one 2nd gen. The old trucks were so simple to work on.

    I loved the 1st gen S-10s. They were sharp looking and didn't cost $50,000.

    My 1982 GMC S15 Sierra was improved upon as original equipment began to fail: a 3.4 liter V6 crate engine, a 5 speed, a 4.10 posi rearend, a Weber carburetor. among other improvements.

    1988 GMC S-15 4X4 4.3L H.O crate engine, 600 cfm throttle body, injector spacer, MSD coil and module 260 Dur. cam stock for the H.O engine and coming soon 1.6 rockers and headers. 30+ years old and still a nice rust free truck. Oh and also sports American Racing Vector 8.5 inch wide wheels made for the vettes. The vector is what the general lee has on it for those who weren't aware or sure what the vector was. Senior 89 and thats what i picked as my choice of new car for a gift. Love these trucks and SUVs can't forget Blazers and Jimmys.

    Back when the S10 was a "S-10"
    Few knew there was a hyphen in the official model name in the first couple or so years.

    • @djpete3865
      @djpete3865 Před 3 lety +1

      In official GM literature, they used the hyphen pretty inconsistently. Sometimes it was there and sometimes it wasn’t.

    • @5KpGD
      @5KpGD Před 3 lety +2

      @@djpete3865 It's in the badging as well, and the hyphen was dropped for the 1985 model year.

      @@5KpGD I didn't know that. We had an '84. To this day I put in a hyphen.

    So was the GMC S-15 (Sonoma) version more upscaled for these first generation S series? In other words were they a little more expensive then the Chevy badged versions and how many trim options did it offer?
