You CAN complete the level without the detonator key even in the PlayStation version. It works exactly like the second secret in the first level of Tomb Raider 1, i.e you need to press "forward" and "action" at the same time rather than "jump" and "action", otherwise Lara won't grab the ledge.
EDIT: wait, I hadn't finished watching the video when I posted my comment, but you seem to contradict yourself, since at 3:45 you clearly show us Lara climbing on top of the destructible building's roof in the PS version. So, what gives?
