- In today's video, I am getting rid of mama and dad as they head off to the royal highland show while I mind the farm. They had a great time and will show you around the machinery and cattle. They also meet somme other CZcamsrs like "The sheep game" and "drew's farming life" and also some "this farming life stars" like Martin and Mel Irvine with the Limousins, Pete Black From Collassie farm with the Clydesdales and Raymond Irvine with "Highland Hero" champion valais blacknose sheep. While the weather in france is raining and thunderstorms, all is well bare a fence down and a rave festival in the neighbouring fiels.

Well done Laura And it’s good for your mam and dad, to get a bit of free time.
Super vlog Laura. Great to see mam and dad getting a bit of time off and getting round the show. A bit of banter, a lot of craic and a few ideas for Declan to think about. Essential for the wellbeing and mental health. It must be a relief knowing that everything is being taken care of at home ( despite the rave!!). Keep vlogging Laura.
Great video Laura I love those agricultural show's and it shows how important it is to get away from the farm also interesting to see all the work that must be done back on the farm and responsibilities you have.
We have our Tullamore Show on 12th August can't wait...Take care all

Great video, well done. I'll check out those cameras.
Great video at the farm show Declan
Congratulations! I know you’ll do great.
A very enjoyable video Laura.
A great mix of content.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you 😊
I have a feeling your dad will be building one of those calf catchers for a quad. Your dad should get royalties on the cameras mounted on the Manitou!! I so enjoy watching Drew's videos and Maggie on youtube also. Ask your dad and mom how tall were those poles that the climbers climbed. The electric fence with the rope and thin wires is terrible. It is sold here but a ribbon style electric wire works quite well with multiple wires incorporate into the ribbon. I so enjoy your videos and hope we get more quicker because I learn so much from them. Thanks Laura
Congratulations Laura 🎁🌹🍾💐💯🎉
Great video again Laura🌟. Love the dog's 🤠😀we use that electric wire for horse's 🐴
Great to get away for a few days. I hardly knew Declan..... he scrubbed up well!! 😂😂. Looks a great show, might have to check it out sometime.
Hope all went well for you while they were gone. Take care 🇮🇪👍

Looks like your mam&dad had a good time at the highland show and you done a great job looking after the farm while they were were away they will be very proud of you
Thank you 😊
Fantastic video, great mixture of everything.Raving with cylrsdales.
Great video Laura. I truly admire a strong self sufficient woman who can take over the farm for awhile while mama and papa are away. As for me I've got my taters on the boil, got some steaks in the deep freeze Big family supper tonight. My favorite method of maintaining a sustainable pantry and stockpiling items long term for the whole family is what I consider to be the most practical, utilizing every type of food storage methods and technology available, both old and new. . Except for the fruits and vegetables that get canned, I keep perishable items like meat, poultry, fish, fruit, vegetables and dairy products in the refrigerator on a short term basis until I'm ready to use them for a big family meal - and for even longer term sustainable storage, a large separate freezer, which can store a half side of beef with plenty of room left over for homemade ice cream etc. . I'm considering upgrading to a walk-in freezer at some point.in the near future, if my plans to open a bed and breakfast come to fruition. Sometimes, however a nice round of cheese can do well for quite awhile on a pantry shelf at room temperature - and doesn't mind even if it has to stand there alone. Store bought canned goods get shelves.in the large pantry closet - several for canned meat like corned beef hash, spam and sandwich spread and another for canned vegetables Bread, rolls, grains, homemade pasta, cereals and the like are stored in special humidity controlled bins I order from Amazon Prime - which usually get delivered to my doorstep about an hour after I order them. . Stuff from the family garden and orchard, like onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, cauliflower, cucumber, pumpkins, carrots, corn celery,, potatoes and yams, cherries, blueberries and strawberries get canned in Mason Jars and stored in the cool, root cellar of this wonderful rambling former farmhouse (circa 1867) I share with my extended blended family and several rambunctious dogs raised on table scraps from the some of the finest food from a plethora of sources both commercial and home based. . There's even a special separate "summer kitchen" which I converted to store butter and ice cream churns, pots, pans, utensils, extra storage containers, foil, bags, cutlery, and other meal related accoutrement. Out back in the woods, just beyond the big pile of wood I maintain all year, (for use in an antique woodstove I keep on hand, in case the power goes out) there's even an old rusting vintage still where my great grandfather made some of the finest corn whiskey for miles. Next to it is the rusting hulk of the Ford Model A he used to transport that powerful hootch by the light of the moon on soft summer nights to his eager customers in a tri-county area. Further into this verdant forest of mostly sycamore, oak, pine and scrub, runs a cool stream into which I occasionally cast a rod or net to catch some Brook Trout, Bluntnose Shiners, or whatever takes the bait (just earthworms for the most part). And yes, hunting season means wild turkey, deer, and even an occasional wild boar. Next week, I'm planning on filing for a permit to 3-D print a smokehouse in order to be able to create gourmet artisan handcrafted, beef, bacon, turkey, and beef stick jerky, which interested local merchants can private label for other people to share with their families. Unfortunately, i had to break the bad news to my free range hens today that due to expected egg shortages regretfully numbered are their days of laying a couple of eggs and then basically taking the rest of the day off with ranging privileges' within the parameters of a few very nice rural acres - parts of which are rich with fat grubworms. There's even a short dirt road between the main barn and the farmhouse which they're free to cross to get to the other side as often as they'd like. My rooster Ben overheard me and he ain't too happy either, knowing full well that due to oncoming egg shortages, he'll be "workin' overtime to make sure there's plenty of eggs for me and the family. Y'all have a great weekend.
Great video Laura that county was a fine tractor looked like a great show jaysus paco can run he has serious energy
Greetings from donegal 👋. Great video. You folks have some amazing livestock. And yes we have that electric wire here too. An yes its absolute crap!!
What a busy episode. The show was interesting, and looked like things went ok at the farm as well.
When you mentioned the rave, that reminds me of the time back in the hazy days of my youth, I remember the neighbours going away for a weekend. They left their sons running the farm. On the Saturday night, one son had a “small” party for friends from high school. Well, everyone told a friend or two…at about 11pm the police were called. This was not a big farm, but there was something like 400 kids there, and half of them were blocking the road.
Took them hours to clean the place out. We could hear the goings on from quite the ways away.
Ha ha, I remember way back in my day, a North of Ireland man bought a huge farm in our locality, he and his wife went on holiday, and left 4 sons at home to do the work, they sold and spread 60 tons of fertiliser for the neighbours and didn't do their own. Drank the money. Their father wondered why his crops were so poor 😢

Beautiful cattle at the farm show
I was over at the highland show. A great show every year.
Super video Laura credit to you covered so much well done
The royal highland is a great show been there the year before lock down. Edinburgh is a great city to visit I really hope they enjoy it. Get them book on a Witcher’s tour around the old town some evening.
Hello beautiful lovely farm lady

Great video Laura and would really like to see videos more frequently please
Haven't heard from you for a while, stay safe sweet lady.
Well we see how that goes😂 keep it up Laura love the vids
Great video as always ❤️😀
Wow! That is an Irish ascent!
Laura, great job - you are a true farmers daughter; credit to both your parents. If only I was 25 😇
Cattle look well considering the heat. We had 36c plus for a while, but unlike you - no blasted rain yet and grass in non existent.
Royal Highland is a great show, as is the Royal Welsh too - sadly The Royal Show closed some time ago - but I can’t put in writing why 🤣🤣🤣 As someone who ran shows for 20 plus years (Dorset County - 2 day show and New Forest & Hampshire County Show - 3 day show; a lot of work goes into putting then on.
Sounds like the Rave went well, how much did they pay you? Hope it cash ‘cash’ up front 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nobody will tell Declan and Emily, so your secret is safe !
Stay safe, be happy and great smiles xxx
Richard.
Nice video Laura keep up the good work

Beautiful as always Laura keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing your video's at night.
Not creepy at all
@@lilacmoo2499 I'm not trying to be I was trying to give u a compliment on your appearance on the videos. I ran my grandparents farm for many years before they passed away taking care of the cows sheep, and harvesting the fields.
@@roberthoway9407 it was the fact you said at night
That was the creepy remark?
@@lilacmoo2499 sorry I am a long haul trucker and the only time I get to watch the farm videos is at night when I stop lol.
I'm like a farmer I work from sun up to sun down lol
Howdy from mid-west USA in Iowa where the tall corn grows, great vid I luv farm shows, lots of them in USA in August
Hi! So how high does the can rn grow in Iowa?
@@FarmingLifeatLaForge usually 7 feet by July 4th, I’ve had corn 10 feet when planted late but normal is eight feet-meters ? Probably 2.5+ but we need rain here too, just corn and soybeans here a little alfalfa and oats for cattle
I was thinking, I wonder if they meet Cammy and like magic he just popped up.
Great video Laura your cattle look well did you not go to the rave
Great video. For someone who makes CZcams videos, I’ve never seen Drew look so nervous, what did your parents do to him 😂😂😂😂
Moo!! I am talking 😂
Those Charolais at about 17 minutes don't look like the type here in Canada. I was an A.I Technician, a cattle inseminator for 17 years, and bred a lot of Charolais and show type mainly, and none looked like that. Those look more like a Belgian Blue type of muscling. Those Shorthorns looked nice, I had a small herd of purebred Shorthorns after my parents sold our Jerseys in 1995. That venue reminds me of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair here in Toronto in the cattle palace.
House party!! 😂😂😂
How come the Herefords and the Angus dont have the big arses like the Charolais and the Limosine?
😊
I hope dad brought you something nice I suspect he wishe Is a fast lorry to put the county on room self
Haha he has enough tractors, for now...
At 18:20 , is that the Limousin bull "Whinfellpark Lomu" ? Some serious muscle on him.
What breed is that big dog? Nice video ....who owns the "ZM" bike?
They have gone to lay a bit of tarmac.🤣😂😅😂🤣🤣😂😅

Surprised you weren't raving too? If you can't beat em join em!
With the title to video, I thought you were actually taking over the farm.... ie.. dad retiring and you "taking over the farm"
Haha, sorry I don't think dad will retire anytime soon... This is as close as I could get
