Here’s a conspiracy theory: they all died in a house fire. I mean the final boss leads into this theory because in the background there’s literally fire around the mansion. And the fact that most of the ghosts hate fire. Weston and Shivers for example. And the fact that Bogmire’s design looked like he was burned alive and melted. And he is supposed to resemble the mansion’s fear and despair.
booo they all died is the lamest laziest overused conspiracy :P
Some of them could have also died from other causes. Like how Mr. luggs died of eating too much. Some of them could have died from a curse. The mansion could of just cursed some of the residents before the fire killed everyone else. But most of them seem to have been killed off by a fire. And the fire could have also either been caused by king boo or the real Bowser. Possibly King Boo most likely
You know I never really considered that whole fire thing. That actually makes a bit of sense as long as Shivers and Weston are part of the family. (Which isn't necessarily definitive.) Either way, it seems like something quite tragic happened.

@@DuoStuff i know shivers is the family’s butler but I am unsure if Weston is a cousin or something else. I don’t think it explained that part about him in the games. But if they lived in the same house at the time they were probably related. Unless professor e gadd has caught some of the ghosts in other places during his years of hunting and some of the portrait ghosts are not related at all but when they were free from their paintings just decided to live their afterlives in the mansion. In that case, they died different ways where ever they came from. But since the twins always played hide and seek, Lydia always wasting her life by a mirror and not really liking outside, Neville always liked reading, Sue Pea sleeping and so on. They all were probably distracted in some way that caused them to not know that everything around them was burning in flames.
The atmosphere in the original was so dark and cold. It’s something I wish the sequels used. Like in Luigi’s mansion 3 there are like almost no dark rooms, even when there ghost it’s too well lit.
I definitely miss the atmosphere for sure. (Though I still love Dark Moon and 3 anyways.)

Hey Vail, you should react to the full SpaceWorld 2000 demo for Luigi’s Mansion. It’s been found recently.
Luigi's Mansion lives in my head rent-free, especially all the wild theories and creepy easter eggs.

The original Luigi’s mansion is still one of my favorite games of all time, the atmosphere of a game is for some reason one of the biggest factors in if I enjoy it and this game nails it somehow on its first try. Great vid as usual!!
Those are the reasons I love it as well. It's just such a unique little game.

The real Bowser was killed by Mario. King Boo is the one that keeps bringing Bowser back with Edo Tensei in every Mario game.

THE LEGEND HAS RETURNED! And with a Luigi's Mansion video at that. The OG Luigi's Mansion is one of my favorite games and it gets the anesthetics of everything just right. The fact that there's mandates with Mario games explains a lot about the feel of a lot of Nintendo games currently

Yeah I really wanted to give it another video. My retrospective isn't bad per-se, but it doesn't feel as fun as something like this.
And honestly, why not talk about this game again? Maybe I'll get to a Dark Moon and 3 video eventually too. (Not yet though. I need to do those at a different time.)
Love this series even though I’m more a casual Luigi mansion fan. It’s cool hear people talk bout and I never really heard or thought bout the fact much bout the house and family having to of died at the same time and it’s pretty interesting!

Well thank you! I'm just trying my best to make entertaining stuff similar to what I used to watch in the early 2010s. Get ready for more whacky ideas at least.
I really need to get around to playing this game at some point. I liked the third game quite a bit, even if I felt it dragged in points a bit and could have done some shaking up of the formula, or maybe after the 20th floor of Luigi destroying an army of undead, the ghost should have taken him a bit more seriously instead of still doing the stupid laughing like they're all bugs bunny or something. Still basically a playable Pixar level of animation on the Switch, and is rather impressive for what it does.
3 is definitely a bit different than 1, but honestly I think the entire trilogy is worth your time for one reason or another. Though LM1 is kinda hard to get ahold of unless you either pay a ton for the original GC version, emulate it, or play the slightly-less-fun 3DS remake.
@@DuoStuff I have a japanese copy of it for gamecube, just need to actually play through it, even if I might miss out on some of the humour in the game. But ya, gamecube collecting has gotten kinda pricey compared to other consoles of the time.
Probably one of the only horror games from Nintendo. The sequels don’t fit this genre.

I’m late to the party, but I feel like originally Chauncey was definitely NOT born as a ghost as you can see his portrait in the nursery. I think Nitro Rad’s idea of saying “he was born a ghost” was done by Nintendo out of fear of there being infant mortality in a Mario Game.
To be honest, that logic on Nintendo's side doesn't work. There are 7 years old who died as well.

And to think, the game was suppose to be ever scarier than it already is I still think about what it would have been like if Nintendo stuck with a T rated Luigi's Mansion.
Man I really would've liked it if more of the beta elements made it into the game.

I guess it's possible, but it seems weird to me that Jarvis would be the sole enemy-based portrait ghost.

One bit of Luigi's Mansion lore that has always fascinated me is the fucking timer in the beta footage. There is a timer where the gameboy horror is, which implies there may have been a time limit, similar to Majora's Mask. Who knows what happened when the timer ran out and you got a game over...
That's what I've always wondered about. I still feel like it would've lead to a bad ending honestly.
The answer is much more mundane, the timer shows how much you're allowed to play (remember it was a demo at Spaceworld) and when it reached zero, the demo ended and it was another guest's turn.

Luigi's mansion as a whole was always a standout as a whole. It always got me to the point that it wasn't a Mario game, it was luigi game, next traveling in the endless hallways of darkness, and the silence of light rooms, and MR LUBBA AND CHAUNCEY. But it sticks to me as a wonderful classic that still spooks this Amateur.
Yeah it's still a spooky game, even if any of the fear-factor has kinda worn off on me by this point. XD

@@DuoStuff I really like how the various mechanics and abilities make for some very creative and interesting puzzles and platforming challenges.
I think one of my favorite gimmicks is the Mega Thwomp in the last world. Despite just being a simple stealth section the tight corridors can make it kind of tricky but still very forgiving. The extra abilities you can unlock can also change some parts of the game quite a lot (Though I do think the float should have been available from the beginning). It may be one of my favorites but I agree with most of the fanbase not perfect. Like the whole thing with the Toads.
I do like the visual mix of the Yoshi's Island and Starfy artstyles. I guesss there's also that and I guess also my bias for Tose Software and thier amazing games and remasters like Starfy, Chrono Trigger DS and WarioWare Gold.
Sorry if this was too much lol.
I actually agree with some of this. I just don't find it as spectacular I guess. (It's fun enough, but I have some issues with it.) But you'll see once its video gets released.
