Lindsey with the editorial beauty shot and Chris with the story telling both won their own respective categories.
Now this is how you do a 1 vs 1. Such a beautiful difference in approach and their results. I love them both and each of them are inspirational, you both make it tough to choose! The gel approach on Lindsay’s photo is so beautiful and that Cinematic look on Chris’ photo caught me off guard, whoa! Showcase more photos of this shoot please! 🙌🏾‼️😃
Both gorgeous! I especially love Chris' cinematic approach, genius!
For me, the image I truly feel more draw to, is Chris image. I am a theatre and portrait photographer who is drawn to the world of story-telling and cinema and with the colours, and the gentlemen behind the lady, I feel so-thing is going to happen and we as a audience are witnessing the story coming alive. Thank you both and once again this is why I love Profoto
Both these images are representative of your styles and are excellent. The narrative element in Chris’ image takes the win for me.
he couldn't make the narrative element with adding more lights, so complete fail for me
Lindays definitely the winner hands down
Love Lindsay's work, but Chris (The Dark Knight) you killed it!!!! I'm totally going to have to try your set up!
As usual, Lindsey have made such beautiful photos. But I really love the moody style of Chris. So for me, you're both winners in your styles ! ;-)
Loved them both but Chris definitely cheated with the background lighting😂. Thx for all the tips. You both killed it!
Chris Knight’s night cinematic shots wins my vote. Sorry Lindsey but still love your work.
The two styles are too different to pick one as my favourite.... I just can't choose. They are both pictures I would be extremely happy to take! 😍
Bravo to Lindsay and Chris both did a fantasic JOB! Very Very Very Well done.
Both so very well done! For my part I prefer Chris Knight's approach as it tells a story while remaining commercial as well. Bravo to both!
"Everyone has different styles and it's what speaks to you". I think both are unique and have interesting approaches.Thank you for sharing.
Two different styles, this was epic battle between sorceress and rockstar.
Love both! Greetings from UA
love both images. totally different artistic directions but lovely results
definitely a Win-Win! love them both!
2 different styles, both amazing!
They both have their merits. One, simple in execution, bold and powerful in results. The other, more complex and dynamic with equally powerful results. Wonderful work using lighting skills and talented crew and talent.
Sorry but you both are winners! Enjoyed both takes on the challenge and very different approaches to get viva magenta.
I'd love to vote to Chris because Chris makes me to expect some mysterious story at the scene :)
I love these two light geniuses. Fabulous 😍
You are both amazing in your own styles !! Creative colorful bold and story teller cinematic !! Well done !!
Cinematic look speaks more to me
I loved BOTH! If you forced me to pick, I would slightly lean to Chris’ because of the depth of the image.
Fantastic looks from both of you. Love your work.
Both great !! ❤
I think Lindsay was more to the spirit of the challenge but I like the story telling of Chris’s image. So because if that, I have to go with Chris. But if we base on the spirit of JUST 1 light, we’ll it’s Lindsay.
Chris is the winner of this one, love that use of light and WB, just so creative
Two great photographers I been following for a while. It hard to choose. I like both styles. Glad Chris is doing more videos when he not busy. Hope you bring him or her back again soon. I still do some photography for fun. I met some great people in photography industry. I want to thank Lindsay, Chris, and Prophoto for the video.
I like both, but I like bold more, so... I'll go with Lindsay! Sorry Chris, both of you are incredible photographers.
Love the one light challenge. Both great images and done in your iconic style. Chris's shot tells a story and really draws me in. .
Je ne sais pas choisir, vous êtes tous mes préférés. 😅 chacun a fait du bon boulot dans son style. Merci à vous deux de m'avoir à nouveau inspiré.
i love both of your works and creativity...bravo!
Hail Yeah I wake up to 10 degrees F and Viva Magenta!!!!!!! Viva Lindsay and Chris.
Both brilliant! Thanks for these explanations.
Lindsey and Chris are very talented photographers always showing us how creative you can be with one modifier.
Huge Lindsay fan!! But I think Chris edged this one out! :D
This would be great on shared E Commerce site selling clothing, social media, or cosmetics. Great job on the video.
Simply amazing
Chris is the winner for this one.😀
Nice. Really love how different both approaches are. Both were great.
Wow! both are stunning. Lindsay, I'm a big fan of your photos but I will vote for Chris only because he made it as a mystic story.
It’s a tie bc both are outstanding!
Absolutely amazing. Love both perspectives and approach, they both carry the same creative weight. I'm a little more biased to dark and moody though (God this is hard) but Chris that semi silhouetted look is fire, I LOVE IT! Lindsay I love you and what you do and you never disappoint. GREAT STUFF GUYS!!
Great job the both of you.
Absolutely amazing and beautiful results by both artist! One couldn’t go wrong with either photographer as it really does just depend on what the purpose of the end result is for. If I’m going for that pink ish color as the main concept I’m not sure if many do it better than Lindsay with her style of layering and matching same color over nearly the same color there for creating a colorful monochromatic color scheme. But Chris absolutely nailed his cinematic magenta and blue look while creatively only using one “real” light source. I loved its vibe and if I were to pick… I would go with Chris on the 1 on 1 but I didn’t wanna choose.
Dynamic Duo!!! Thanks a lot for the fun content!!
Profoto: let's do a one light challenge
Chris: yes let's do it, I love three light challenges
"...three light plus haze machine challenges..."
I only saw visible light, no other wavelengths, technically 1 light. 😁
LOL. Right?
he used everything but the kitchen sink
WOW....
Chris Sir is assisting to Lindsay mam, & this is one of the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
my favorite session was the 1st half from Lindsay mam... that part can used as a Beauty shoot, but Chrs sir session can be used for movie poster shoot as well.
THANKS
Love from India !!!
I love these two
You both are winners! Incredible shots but I will have to side with Chris on this challenge.
Sweet!! Great job. I will have to check both photographers.
Happy to hear - definitely check out both their work. You won't be disappointed
Hard to pick. I’m going to go with Chris on this one. I like the edgier look.
Both approaches were very creative and produced excellent results. As with most artistic endeavors, these two approaches are not comparable so I am not choosing one over the other. I like them both and they tell different stories.
This is a great video. And seeing the two different styles, back to back is really helpful. It was clear early on due to excitement that Chris's style was more of my style. But learned something from the both of you! Thank you! )))
I like both lightning 😍
Bravo Lindsay
I think Chris Knight won this one. It's far more interesting and I find myself spending more time looking at that photo.
Both winners!!❤ Calling a tie.
Both very nice...but one light, plus a crew to pull it off:)
Chris definitely the best!
Love that cinematic style (I'm a sucker for using smoke/haze)! I love images that tell a story, so Chris gets my vote on this one.
Lindsay fan all the way but I think Chris got this one. Both shots are beautiful! The cinematic look won me over.
It’s genius How he made three colours cyan blue and red just with one light and it’s a real world scenario even though it is stretched it is believable. There is also a different tension between the male Photographer and the female model.
Lindsay technically won, she did only use one light BUT who cares…Chris’ image was masterfully done too. Both are excellent!
I prefer Chris' shot as that's very much the kind of thing I am into, but both superb!
Legends 🔥😍
Me too going with Chris
This video is so inspiring. Very different directions. Both win for me ;) ❤
Both are brilliant but drama is my thing so Chris smashed it out of the ball park.
Work so hard that the photographer you used to assist now assists you.
2 awesome photographers with crazy good skills/vision/execution!!
I love both your styles so picking a “winner” is seriously tough🤔
seeing what Chris did with the 1 light and flag w/bounce back to subject was great💪🏼💪🏼! Lindsay throwing up a gel in front of the model for some extra color spice, W😍W! that is one i want to try out sometime 👌🏼
Im gonna give my vote to: 👉🏼
🥁drum roll🥁 ….. both get 🥇🏆🥇because you both taught & brought some new inspiration to us so i think we all one out on this challenge!!
🙏🏼🙏🏼thank you both!!
😃pls consider doing again sometime
Love you guys 💕
My favorite is the one with the color gels.
Both were awesome, tho I lean more toward the on-location shots as its what I prefer to shoot as well 😀
I like the image that Chris took better because it resembles what I am after in photography: storytelling
I am a big Lindsay Adler fan but this time I have to go with Chris Knight.
You for the info/video. May I ask if the size of beauty dishes used were the same throughout the video?
It would be awesome to include the size with the description.
Great work!!
Yes, it is the same throughout the video. Visit here to learn more: profoto.com/products/light-shaping-tools/beauty-dishes/softlight-reflector-white/techspecs
Good!
I prefer Lindsay's Sorry Chris I found the secondary light being held in the background too distracting.
Chris all the way!
straight up Lisbeth Salander, nice work
Meu voto vai para Lindsay ❤
Lindsey for me with the beautiful portrait using the colored gel
Love the way Chris has used the lights ..which flash light he is using in the back which some guy is holding ?
It was a regular flashlight from an electronics store!
Lindsay! Very graphic
I prefer the first one. She was so creative with only one shot. She didn't use any practical light
I love you both . But i am taking alder❤
I love to shoot on environments too
One light challenge!!!! Lindsay won because she stuck to the brief 100. Chris ended up using 3 lighting sources. Lindsay is the winner
I have a question in regards to Chris’ white balance adjustment. Was this on camera or in capture one or does that matter? Thank you. Great shots. Congratulations to both.
I was tethering to Capture One and I made the adjustments there so it would be changed as they came into the computer. As long as you shoot raw, you can easily change it later, but doing it while tethered makes sure the color balance between the gel and environment is “correct.” In this case making the blue gelled light on the subject look mostly neutral, and the daylight room lights look magenta.
We had to play around with a couple different blues to find the right one. A bit of trial and error.
WOW! How could one image be better than the other...? They're all equally amazing! I know that these new sensors are incredible for low light situations/dual iso capabilities and all however, I wish they would share with us at the very least just how far they pushed noise reduction in post. Were they in the upper stratosphere of High ISO's?

@@profoto Thank you so much,... this just made this shoot-out/vs so much more value added (for me that is) than I could have imagined. Thank you @profoto for creating such amazing content.
They were both fab, but if I had to pick one, it would be Chris's. Why? 1) I'm a sucker for practically anything Cinematic & 2) It reminded me a bit of one of my favorite movies: Blade Runner.
Sorry Lindsay.
Amazing work. But I would call Chris's set up 'one light ' for sure....
100% Chris I love his style
As a photo I prefer Chris’. But he did use more than one light so he gets disqualified lol Lindsay wins by default
Lindsay I love your creativity, but I think Kris won this round!
Both great shots but I’m going with Chris because it looks like it could-have been taken out on the streets sorry Lindsay
I prefer Chris’s shot. It is more natural that red background was always cliche and now it is getting old.
Easily Chris. But technically he cheated. But not really…. Only studio lights count. I lean more towards cinematic. Both good though.
