- This Revit tutorial will get you started using Revit in the fastest way. The tutorial covers basic Revit skills to build a simple house. It will be your first introduction to using Revit to push you into the world of BIM. Check out the full beginner’s Revit course: • Revit Course for Begin... (Lesson 1)
In this quick start tutorial, you are going to learn how to design and model a simple house using the industry’s leading 3D BIM software, Revit.
What is Revit?
Revit is a BIM (building information modelling) software that creates intelligent 3D models of buildings which can be used to produce construction documentation drawings and design presentations.
Revit is a building-specific solution for design and documentation and is currently the industry’s leading software for BIM.
Revit is used for conceptual design, 3D parametric modelling, detailed design documentation, multi-discipline coordination, modelling building components, analysing and simulating systems and structures, iterating and visualising architectural designs, building performance analysis and more.
Why learn Revit?
Revit not only allows architects to design and model 3D solutions, but the BIM software also allows for seamless collaboration between disciplines which makes working with structural engineers, other designers, and MEP consultants incredibly efficient.
Why learn Revit with Kyle?
Let’s face it. Learning new software is often complicated and difficult. Doing it by yourself makes it even harder, but it doesn’t need to be that way. In this course, you will be learning from a Master’s student who has practical Revit experience across three architectural firms (which all use Revit as a main design and documentation tool). You will be able to follow along to learn the skills and confidence you need to use the software efficiently in a professional setting.
You can spend days, weeks or months learning Revit by yourself, and not necessarily learning it the right way. In Kyle’s 4-hour course, you can fast-track that journey to gain the skills to design and model in Revit at a professional level.
Most online Revit tutorials or courses are boring, slow going and demonstrate incorrect practices. Trust me, I’ve found that out the hard way. If you’ve watched Kyle’s videos before, you’d know that these Revit tutorials are fun, fast and easy to follow.

Hey Kyle, just want to say a massive thankyou! I've just been accepted (on a conditional offer) to the University of Sheffield to study Structural Engineering with Architecture, and this video is the perfect introduction to BIM software that I needed, so thankyou! I will certainly be binging the 6 hour course over the next few days!
>Even I already finished all parts video I still watch this. Thank you for these course now I have the basic knowledge about Revit.
💐💐Congratulations on your full beginner's Revit course, Kyle! Wish you have many successful archi student graduates! 👍
Thank you so much! Best wishes to you
Thank you for this amazing Beginner's video, It did really push me to get started with Revit !! Thanks a ton
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching Somika
Thank you for your useful Revit course, I need to go through it but I'm sure they are easy to follow and enjoyable, truly appreciate sharing your knowledge with us😇💐👍God Bless 😇
Thanks Sukhpreet as always!
Si usefull....lot of people need these basics....continue do other videos
Thank you! Will do
Hi Kyle! First of all, thanks! I want to be an architect too and all your videos and courses help me a lot. I think it will be very useful if you make a video about choosing a university for architecture. (Maybe you can host people who have studied at different universities.) Greetings from Turkey :D
Hi Sevval! That sounds like a great idea. Thanks for watching and cheers for the comment!
Well explained!!!! Good One.
Thank you very much for your kind effort.
You are so welcome! Thank you
Awesome brother ❤
Great video!
Thanks Emilio! Glad you think so
Thank you.
You're welcome Puteh
Thank you for sharing your knowledge..Easy to follow
I think, I need to learn Revit❤️
Definitely 👌🏼
Thanks so much for your doctorine
You're most welcome! Thanks for watching Roberta
thanks
You're welcome!
Could you make tutorial about rhinoceros ? And Perhaps google sketch up too.
Of course! Way more to come
Hi Dude- Thanx 4 all Revit work. Please show how to include GRIDS on FLOOR PLANS okay.
Sure thing! Stay tuned
Massing and site, please. Mountain site as an example gonna be perfect
Coming soon :D
👍👍👍
do you have a course on paneled buildings /walls like SIPS or can it be done with Revit
It can be done in Revit by editing a walls type. You can assign a structure layer, as well as an interior and exterior layer, air gaps, membrane layers etc. Although the wall is modelled as a single object, it will have that information in it and will show those elements in your drawings
Hi Kyle, when I open a new document in Revit the Template does not have the metric - Architectural Template, my template says, "Architectural Template" and I do not have one in the template family. I also cannot change this in the project parameters, maybe because I have a Student Version?
Hi Suaad, this is due to the package you downloaded with Revit. It doesn't matter that it's a student version. When you download Revit, you choose whether you have the Australian content, US content or so forth. The Metric architectural template comes with the Australian content and any other countries package that uses the metric system. You might have to download the libraries as well in order to install the templates
Hi kyle, I'm fayez student of civil engineering in Kazakhstan and I want to say thanks for your affords in architectural revit, if it would be possible to make or introduce some courses for constuction students Revit course?
Hi Fayez, thanks for the kind words. I like to stray away from teaching things I am not a professional at, so I’m probably not the right person to teach construction in Revit. However, there is a massive overlap between the two and I’m sure you’d get a lot out of my videos and courses nonetheless. Thank you for the suggestion!
Now that you have used Revit and Archicad, which software are you more happy with now?
I struggled with ArchiCAD mainly because I was so accustomed to Revit. I prefer Revit but there are a lot of small things they need to fix but probably won't. If I was a Mac user I would probably stick with ArchiCAD, but as it was my first time using a Mac in over a decade it added to the learning curve.
do you teach topography and landscape?
Yes! Check out my channel
Revit for structure totorial?
Thank you
Most welcome :)
