Great song - and they really kept it funky, and gave plenty of space for people to dance with the extended jam and solo.
This footage is from "Festival Express", an attempt by some Canadian promoters to bring the Woodstock experience to the Canadian music fans. It worked, sort of. The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Buddy Guy and a bunch of other performers, packed onto a train between shows in Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg, and having a great time jamming their way across Western Canada. The movie about the event is worth your time, lots of great music and behind the scenes footage. Plus some of the best Janis footage, only a few months before she passed.
Yeah that was great. Pigpen and the band in their natural habitat. Jerry wrote the song Might As Well about this train tour. Great pick. Thanks
God damn right they smashed it
Jerry is so young.
Wow yeah , c'mon baby , amazing , fantastic music 👍👌 Rory thank you 🤗 Good evening !!
I'M PRETTY SURE THE BLACK CROWS SINGS THIS SONG HARD TO HANDLE TOO, SO IT'S A COVER SONG FOR BLACK CROWS. I DID NOT KNOW THAT! I'VE BEEN CONFUSED LATELY. AWESOME PERFORMANCE BY EVERYONE!! AWESOME REACTION RORY 💙 AND THANK YOU ELIZABETH FOR THIS AWESOME REQUEST!!
😊🩷🤘✌️AWESOME FUNKY GUITAR 🎸.
Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes is a big deadhead and has sung with various incarnations of the Dead post-Jerry. Pretty sure they were covering the Dead’s cover 😂
And 4/28/71
Definitely my favorite version. Happened to be my first bootleg.
Love me some Dead. Otis was a great, always preferred Stax music to the more pop orientated Motown sound.
Yo 8/6/71 way better version
8/6 is a MUST LISTEN. It’s phenomenal!!
Woot! 68 69 70 71 72
Poor old Pigpen. So sad and such a waste. He was a great vocalist, keyboardist, and harmonica player. Not a lot of video available of the Dead while he was with them.
