A timely reminder of what being a scientist in the face of public skepticism and mistrust of mainstream science in todays society. As Prof Gawande tells us the stakes are higher than ever and its how we think as scientists that will shape the future of our new graduates. As usual an excellent presentation. The final sentence that we are not merely battling over what it means to be scientists but what it means to be citizens is spot on!

Great speech by great writer! Seriousness with which he delivers deserves a serious thinking science community.

What is the point of showing the interpreter for two brief moments? That certainly wasn't for Sign Language users' access.

Probably simply to show she was there, expecting you to read the captions if needed
