Great vid.. We did the route last September, and had pretty good weather. It was warm with the occasional shower. We did this in 3 days. Mainly due to travelling from Shropshire to start the ride, and placed a vehicle at the end in order to get back home... that was the most difficult part - the car logistics ! The actual riding was really great.
Day 1 - Machynlleth to Penmaenpool. Left the route, and cycled to Dolgellau where we stayed at Torrent Walk Bunkhouse, and got a meal in Dolgellau
Day 2 - rejoined the route at Panmaenpool (30p Toll bridge) rode to Trawsfynydd - where we stopped in town to refuel. Onto Betws-Y-Coed for Pizza, and then stayed at The Rocks in Capel Curig (dinner at the Tyn-Y-Coed)
Day 3 - Capel Curig to Conwy - Fish & Chips and a Pint !
All in all a really fantastic route, and really enjoyable.
4 of us did the route. I rode a Surly Bridge Club, Rigid Steel, with 2.8" tyres. Could ride a lighter bike, but this had great gearing for some of the very steep sections of climbs.

Lovely video. Means I don’t need to buy a hardtail now if a gravel bike will be sufficient. 🎉

This video is perfect. Exactly what I needed (after watching your main bikepacking video of the route)

Hi. What tyres would you recommend for this route. I have a full suspension trail bike (29 er), usually use it for riding mtb parks, single tracks so Maxxis minion dhf +dhr are my usual option. I wanted to purchase some rubber specifically for this route so lighter, faster option, maybe cross country option? Is there a specific type of tyres you would recommend, something durable but faster rolling? Thanks. Great video by the way, I like the filming/music style :)

Great video and a fine ride by the looks of it. I'm familiar with a fair chunk of the route.
One question springs to mind... how did you find navigating the boggy byway that you turn onto, before descending to the Sychnant Pass and on to Conwy? I've seen a few reports from riders who had difficulties there, although I believe they were blessed with heavy rain and poor visibility at that point.

Looking at this for next year, and found it really help. Great work as always. Would you say there is much difference in either direction? Looks like you had some nice descents going South to North?

i think a good rule for wales is just go with whichever way the wind is blowing. But probably heading north is ever so better

My suggestion is that you should just use one channel
