  • Fall is a great time to dig out your Snowblower and get it Serviced for winter.
This video shows you how to properly change the Oil and lubricate the machine.
It is good practice to check the gear box oil located in the front auger assembly every 2 or 3 years. I will post a video in the future showing this service.

You should run the engine for a few minutes to warm up the oil before draining to make it drain faster and more completely, plus screw the dipstick tight before measuring the oil level.

Good video. Several questions arise though regarding my Platinum SHO 24. Admittedly I've never done much service on it yet since it's really only been used a few times since I bought it new. The manual refers to checking the auger gearcase oil which requires a special "severe duty gear lube".
For lubricating the auger shaft it refers to removing the shear nuts and bolts (?) Not sure why since the two grease fittings are right there on the shaft (?)
Manual also refers to turning the blower over into service position and removing the six bolts to take off the cover, so I assume there are lubrication points that are only accessible by doing this? Again, never got that far. It's a bit confusing since my manual is also for the SHO 28 Track model so some instructions only pertain to one model. Thanks for any further advice!

Shouldn't you tilt it back to allow more of the dirty oil to drain?

Yeah that's a good idea. I also always change the oil filter too.

Do you grease anything inside the box between the wheels?
