I have a 2 yr old 24 deluxe Ariens, and the Tin heat shield is just enough in the way to keep you from making a straight shot down to the plug. I called Ariens and they are aware of it. OF COURSE THEY ARE....THE ENGINEERS DID IT ON PURPOSE.

Thank you for the video. I have a 2022 Ariens Deluxe 28 that has the same situation. I also had the same problem removing the sparkplug because the metal plate to the right of it interefered. BUT, if you just loosen the 4 screws on the square metal cove below the plug & tilt it outward the socket will be able to seat on the plug properly - much easier than removing the other piece to loosen the metal plate.

Thanks -crappy design. Wouldn't start. Son didn't "sea foam" or startron on his new blower in the Spring. Want to give it a shot of start fluid. They need to fire all the elementary engineers!! What a mess

Thank you. I'll let him know. I have two coming for some other family members here in the states. Christmas will be just a tad better this year.

I have the Pro 36 and Deluxe 27… both excellent machines I’ve had the 27 since 2008

With care and a little maintenance every now and then I hope to have my Ariens a long time too. Great machines. Glad to know yours has lasted a long time.

@@oviduran I have changed the oil and spark plug and greased the shafts and greased the grease points and that’s it. So far the electric starter has failed on the 27 but that’s the only mechanical failure

I have to admit I have never used the electric starter because it always starts right away by pulling the cord once or twice. But I am now curious how the starter works. Glad this is my first snowblower because I am really impressed how it works.

That seems to be a very poor design of the snow blower that you need to remove sheet metal to change the spark plugs. That reminds me of some Fords from back in the 80s (IIRC) that you had to pull the engine to change the spark plugs or cut holes in the wheel wells. If that snow blower was mine, I would trim the heat shield so you don't need to take it off to change the plug. The old plug really didn't look bad to me. Yes, it had black carbon on it, but that will always happen. I didn't see any build-up.
