Blue Crabs, Almost Caught The Thief

- Blue Crabs, in this video we'll be setting our Blue Crab Traps (Pots) in the Indian River Lagoon. We baited the traps with mostly chicken.
After letting the Traps set for 2 days we pulled them. When we got to the last 4 traps I noticed that 3 of them were moved, pulling those traps our suspicions were confirmed, someone pulled our traps, moved then and stole our crabs. We still ended up with enough Blue Crabs for a nice dinner.
When we returned home we just boiled the Crabs whole with some vegetables for another great Blue Crab Dinner. Catch and Cook

Got a heavy heart today Sam and Joyce when I watched your video. I see the enjoyment and love that you and your wife have for one another. I was really looking forward to doing things with my wife like y'all do. Unfortunately Wednesday January 3 i lost my best friend to a simple procedure in the hospital. I wished that i could have just one more day with her to enjoy life and things and to tell her how much i love her. Huge your wife and tell her how much you love and enjoy life. Hello Sam and Joyce. This is Don I met you on the river today in Wealaka. Just after I talk to you, my motor would not start and I had drift over to the dock. I had to wiggle some loose wires around to get it to crank. Very very interesting videos. You guys are a great team.!! I’m so glad I met you two!!!
Also nice meeting you Don. I wish I knew you were having problems I could have given you a hand. I saw you leave the dock but not drifting there, hope you got it straightened out. We didn't have many crabs just about 15 poor quality small crabs. I hope you have better luck. See you on the River.

I ordered some off line but when I got them they were a lot smaller than I was wanting so I took three of them together to make a float buoy just the one trap. I’ve looked on Amazon and I’ve ordered some off of Temo. But not quite what I was looking for.

My Howie and I would use zip ties on our traps just to make sure there was a thief 😘😘😘
You're right Alice. I was going to use zip ties but it would make the traps illegal in Florida because it would interfere with the escape mechanism. Always nice hearing from you
My son just graduated from BMT and starts Tech School today at Keesler. I have a few trips planned out that way the next four months with my grandson. I hope I see you both out on the water!

Sam and Joyce, so sorry people suck sometimes. Thieves always irk me! If they were taking your crabs because they were hungry well that's one thing. However, when they go out of their way to steal from trap after trap well that's just outright meanspirited. Don't let it eat at you too much and try to forgive the theif or thieves their ignorance of other's efforts and property. You're good people and I hope good things happen for you moving forward.

Love your video. Sorry someone took your crabs. I would look for another location for the traps. I love crabbing it is such fun and you never know what you are going to get. It is interesting to see what comes up in the trap. Hope you have better luck next time. Stay warm.

Thieves got so bad up in Maryland that crabbers intertwined razor blades in the line between a concrete block and a float.

Apparently, you can't keep the blowfish in your area due to their persistant toxicity. Up here on the OBX of NC we can safely eat them.

I use colored zip ties to "lock" my the doors on mine, And I switch colors each time I go out so no one knows which color I'm gonna use. At least then I know for sure if they have been robbed because i've had traps move in bad weather.
I thought about using zip ties but then I realized they would prevent the escape mechanism from working and our traps would be illegal. I might try some degradable line, that should be legal. The traps that were moved in that video were in the spots I set them an hour before we pulled them. Thanks a lot for Watching our videos
I was born and raised in Delaware. I usually catch as many as I want in Indian river bay although I’d rather have Maryland crabs. Where are you guys from PA ?

@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors you’re not going to do really good on crabs unless you’re all the way back by the power house, especially if it’s getting cooler or later in the year. I’ve caught bushels in a couple hours with a trot line and salted eel. Try it in the summer.

The reason ther are so many funders is cause you can't keep them . Anything north of jupiter you can't keep them so there numbers go unchecked, they are also very large. If you go catch puffers in jupiter they are all small. Fwc needs to change the regulations on them and alow us to keep them again
