    I’ll be honest, I actually told my little cousin about the Boomerang I grew up and the classic cartoons and he grew jealous of me saying he wanted to experience the shows I saw as a kid and not the ones he saw. As a bonus he hated TTG when I told him about the original.

    Oh man seeing those bumps again was a trip. The sad reality with streaming services it didnt just kill these channels but also theres definitely a quality difference from what shows like cartoon network was putting out in the early 90s-2000s (early 2010s with adventure time and gumball) and even the older stuff like all the classic cartoon reruns on boomerang.
    Sure we get the occasional good cartoon some are REALLY good and a lot that good comes from streaming service.
    But theres also a lot more bad and its a shame to see how quality, love, and creative writing has become ignored by a lot of different platforms because they want to make a quick buck.
    Anyways great short video! You've earned yourself a subscriber man I love cartoons!

      There was a BRIEF period where everyone thought streaming was the answer to the content quality drop we had been experiencing. Its so sad we’re here now and experiencing more animated shows getting canceled than ever and some taken off streaming completely and just not existing anywhere else because originals aren’t available for purchase.

    I’m about to become a really big nerd here, but the toys seen in the OG bumpers are actual Hanna Barbera merchandise sold back in the day!

    Boomerang is even more repetitive now than it was then. They need to bring more of the classics back.

  • @WalterKnox
    @WalterKnox Před rokem +3

    People like to talk about how you can just stream any show you want to now, and while that is all fine and good, there is a completely different feeling between just picking out a show and watching it and actually watching Boomerang. The old bumpers, groovies, shorties and the "boomerang-a-longs" were also a big part of the channel's feel which was just as important as the shows they were playing on it. I know people complained about it's repetitive nature, but that was sort of the point. It was like a time capsule, and like a time capsule it really didn't need to be messed with much. They could have continued to air it how it was for many years. However, it wasn't profitable enough, so sadly it is fading into obscurity.

    In my opinion, it was not streaming services that killed Boomerang. To this day, people still watch regular TV/cable (including me). I think that it was CN that killed Boomerang. It was when they started when they started removing most of the obscure/lesser-known HB/WB cartoons, adding shows from normal CN, and especially when the rebrand was launched. These things damaged boomerang severely and why people no longer watch Boomerang.
    Edit: I dont think boomerang is that dead anymore. I was watching it on tv the other day and its not even that bad of a schedule. It has more originality and variety than CN i dare say. Even though they still spam Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo, its still got some good shows in there. Top Cat, Flintstones and Yogi Bear still air and it is more mixed in terms of airing. IMO Boomerang still has some potential, even in the streamimg landscape.

    I used to watch Boomerang a lot when I was a kid. I always watch it before & after school & on the weekend. It has my favorite programming like Boomeroyalty, Bomerrang-a-long, Boomerang Zoo, Boomerang theater & others. That channel was the best for me. Until by the time I started high school in 2012 & sometimes during 2011-2012 in 8th grade, they slowly started to kill those off one by one. Leaving Boomerang theaters the only 1 left to remain even in the rebranded era of Boomerang. The channel wasn't the same to me as it was anymore. I went to that channel to watch a lot of the old cartoons, considering old is better then new for some. I don't know why, but it felt like the old shows don't even matter no more & it's all about the modern shows. I'm worried as well that the old shows will just be in the abyss just like you said. I always prefer Boomerang from Cartoon Network. What was once an archive of old shows, has now been turned into modern & recent cartoons of today.

    So, I have the streaming app, and it is great. It is missing some things, like some of Chuck Jones' MGM stuff (Bear That Wasn't, The Dot And The Line) but for the most part, you can see it all, except for dark pieces like 'Cheese Chasers' and 'Chow Hound'. My problem is, you can pretty much always find someone running Bugs, The Flintstones, Jetsons, et al. What you have trouble finding is the more obscure stuff - 'Where's Huddles?' etc, and some of the films shown on Boomerang Theater. Same thing when the format changed on the channel - the biggies and well remembered will get shown - but the WTF? stuff will fall by the wayside, and that for me was some of the best appeal of Boomerang.

    Can I ask you something? Who has the best cartoons in your opinion? Warner Bros., Hanna-Barbera, DiC, or Nelvana?
