What is amazing about this video other than the professionality of Alpini is something that would be understandable only with some knowledge of helicopter flight dynamic which is the capability to operate in a low density high altitude environment with a single engine helicopter fully loaded with troops operating at low speed in and out of ground effect... fucking oustanding, pure respect to those pilots!!!

This is what people never see, and it's an incredible skill! Kudos to the pilots who mastered high-altitude high-load flying (and hovering too)

I liked the end when they were exchanging patches and giving respect to their allies. Not gonna lie. I only watches this video bc I just bought a Beretta ARX 100 (civilian version of the Italian military rifle) and just wanted to see the Italian military using it. But I find myself wanting to find out more about the Alpini. Very interesting
Damn, I wished to have ARX. How much did you pay? I heard they are getting expensive.
@aLm0e yea. $1000 used. But it is worth it in my opinion
It's a corps with long history, especially related to many episodes during WW1, against the Austrian empire and german units commaned by a very young Rommel (the White War, the battle of Isonzo, Vittorio Veneto and the famigerate disaster of Caporetto).
Fair in numbers, the Alpini are not a specialized elite regiment like the naval incursors "Col Moschin" (sort of navy seals) or the more known "Folgore" (the paratroopers of the famous last stand in El Alamein).
As long as there was a draft, you could just be drafted into the Alpini.
But they drafted almost only locals, or people expressely demanding to enter.
Mostly, people born in these harsh mountains, expert of unforgiving environment, extreme weather and hight, that love and respect these mountains.
US commands were actually surprised when Alpini groups sent to Afghanistan as support, had no problems and often volunteered in going in night patrols in really impervious, harsh mountain terrain.
It's just what we do, they said. Extremely well trained and well equipped, the Alpini have a strong bond.
When an Alpino leaves active service, he keeps the characteristic green cap with the black feather, and once par year they organize oceanic meetings, where they march in the thousands, young and old, singing their mountain songs.
It's a very italian thing, especially in the north, basically untouched by politics. Together with the running band of the Bersaglieri, Alpini is something that everyone in Italy likes, except maybe few sociopaths with Stalin tattoos on their asses.
There is plenty of material on the internet about the Alpini corps, many episodes worth knowing if you are interested in military history.

Raven feather (black) for Soldiers and Corporals. Eagle Feather (Brown) Second Lieutenant to Captain. Above the grade of major goose down (white). The feather is the symbol that those soldiers who are specialized in operating in the mountains are called Alpini.
@@OFFTRACKPLACES You're confusing yourself with the Bersaglieri. Alpini have only one flight feather (not a normal feather) on their hat and it is only a symbol. On the helmet they have a smaller to avoid interfering with goggles and comms. The Bersaglieri have many feathers on their hats (traditionally 100) and they too have a smaller version for their combat helmet. There are various stories about the origin of Bersaglieri's feathers: camouflage, protection from the sun when aiming the rifle or even to give a greater sense of dynamism while running (the Bersaglieri are famous for running a lot).

No, they are simply mountain troops, as well the US airborne involved are simply parachutist infantry troops: they are both specialized infantry troops
At Vertigo 2022 italian troops were from 8º Reggimento alpini, part of Julia brigade. They are the italian mountain infantry.
