Everyone is Trying to Kill the Superlight 2

- For years, mouse manufacturers have been competing to dethrone the reigning kings, Logitech.
The G Pro and the Superlight are some of the best-selling gaming mice ever produced and even years after their release companies are still trying to steal Logitech’s thunder.
But the days of the Superlight’s dominance might be coming to an end. Many manufacturers are stuffing their mice with new features, and they think that 4K polling rates will get you to switch to their products.
But are we really entering a new era for gaming mice? Are 4K mice actually worth it, and can anyone take down Logitech?

12:26 If the Superlight is too small for you. Try the G703 . I find it perfect shape, but it is heavier. We really need a Superlight version of that mouse.
Everything about it , but the weight, is awesome.
The reality is that logitech just didnt do enough at all. They had 3 years and somehow made the clicks worse, didnt go minimum 4k, skates are the worst ive felt on any mouse stock they literally scratch and they left the mushy side buttons the same. Its not enough in this market especially at that price. $50-70 is where the new mouse should be priced for what it is.
You act like there not still used more than any other mouse. And I bet money soon as that’s not true they will come I it with a new one. Just like Intel they can make better but why when there the best
@@emsj86 exactly why Ryzen started to gain market share over intel. plus many tech reviewers did not recommend an upgrade from gpx to gpx2. while other mice manufacturers were innovating and improving by leaps and bounds, Logitech barely improved, which could potentially lead to their downfall
yeah it's not about if 4k is actually beneficial or not but it's about being the top of the line mouse, it should have all of the bells and whistles but of course they save money by giving bare minimum as people gonna buy anyway. It kinda sad but this is the reality in a lot of tech products nowadays, Apple, Intel, Nvidia,... why do better when you could make more money for less effort
@@emsj86Logitech best? Where? Lamzu or Pulsar are better and they are from much smaller and newer companies. RAZER is much better than Logitech for almost 2 years now. We will see Finalmouse (if without qc issues ofc) will be also much better and total nobrainer comapred to GPX2. Yes, most pros use GPX, because its the oldest mice like that with very safe shape and there is something called SPONSORSHIP, which is the biggest reason for all of this. PROs are also using mostly shitty other gear like headphones, shit keyboards and mousepads. So what? Just because they have the biggest market share that means every shit they pull out means its the best? I don't think so.
@@oneautumnleaf9293 honestly I do t use Logitech but you can’t ignore they out sold and out sell all the ones you named

Slot of pc parts dk this. Like CPU’s can be way better but they want to make money so they only move up a little each release they easily could release a cpu with 10 times the production
@@emsj86 Intel was EXACTLY like that between 2012 and 2016 until AMD came with Ryzen in 2017 and Intel started to panic because now they couldn't sell 4 core 8 thread CPUs anymore and call them flagship. Or it's them saying that they're confident that the Superlight is already a really good mouse (which it is for 99% of people) and that they only have to make small improvements (like usb-c and a bigger battery).

everyone obsessed about polling rate while s1mple still plays with 1000hz
Polling rate also cause higher cpu usage which could potentially cause the game to lag

this is what I've been saying.
our tech is so good nowadays, that even the "older generation" tech is still good enough for literally any use case.
I'm sticking with my gprox until it breaks, and then I'm buying another one, because by the time mine breaks (which I don't think it will at this point) the price will be much lower in price.
@@PsychonautTV Yeah Most people should buy the best cheap mouse they like for me I became a fan of Razer Viper mini but at first I didn't liked it felt different than Logitech g204 but now it's so good I will buy another viper mini when it breaks.
Logitech needs to REALIZE that the competition is HUGE on the gaming mouse market and they need to step up their game asap! Thanks to Lamzu, Pulsar, Xtrfy etc. for the excellent other choices you offer us and that we don't have to rely on the greed from the biggest companies.
He's talking about "Is 4KHz worth it" while I sit here with a 8KHz Polling Rate already xD
I rather have good low latency implementation, good engineering than some company just putting spec sheets on the table. I have a GPX for my desktop and a Pulsar for my laptop. Pulsar is good at fps games when I need it but it doesn't beat the GPX. Also with the hollow bottom design, I end up needing to clean it often before it feels jank.
GPX Shape is what makes it king, nothing else. Logitech said they're going to focus on the switches to becoming consistent.
The reason why big companies usually are that much more expensive is because they use alot of their money in research while the smaller companies just copy the results of the research which makes it easier to make a less expensive product.
@@tirosc Thanks for saying this. Oftentimes people do not care about the refinement and consideration of the total product.
4k polling is the dumbest marketing scheme
My 8k v3 death adder with a bungee rope reacting to this information:
for a long time, mice sensors performed best at 400 DPI. (less drift at all speeds) But with the current gen sensors like focus+, and or HERO, the sensors the 'best' DPI has moved up. Like focus+ you really want to be at at least 800 DPI. And there is a slight improvement going up to 1600 DPI. If you adjust your settings right 800 DPI can feel the same as 400 DPI. Same thing with 1600 DPI.
you crank up the dpi and reduce the sensitivity in game settings to have the same "total value", for instance, lets say you have your dpi set to 400 and game sens to 10, so your total value is 4000, you could have the same thing by setting your dpi to 2000 and the game sens to 2, same total value, by doing this u remove the software control of the game and have it mostly on your mouse, if its a good mouse, it just feel better, it feels more smooth, imho it just works better, if you test it doing the otherwise, u can see that high sens and low dpi on game skip pixels, while low sens and high dpi does not.
Tenz: "I can't go back to non 4k mice anymore" - You're going to start hearing that more once it's normalized.

If you don't - the mouse... is... great.
As someone with a big hands , i say gpx is perfect for me to touch especially how comfy and relax my hand especially with abit of mods into it like colour pattern gpx 1 > 2
Can somebody explain to me how going any higher than 2k polling rate does anything considering the lowest timer resolution you can set for your pc is 0.5ms?
It's similar to why you want a significantly higher fps than the refresh rate of your monitor. It means the game has the latest possible position value available to it.
I big reason aswell imo is that the mice that actually would hold on to the g pro are hard to get or super expensive or not obtainable without shipping.

2023 is truly a wild year...
Once I tried 8k there's no going back
I dont think its that hard, just drop it in some water?😊
currently using the classic G502 Lightspeed. Couldn't wish for any other mouse in my life, the thing is amazing
the difference between 4k and 1k barely made a difference in linus tech tips response time test for mice, maybe they didn't have the dpi high enough? idk. but realize that we are talking about noticing the difference going beyond 100 polls every tenth of a second, that's already a pretty high number.
I was on the market for my first wireless gaming mouse (only use a logitech MX anywhere with my laptop) and since it came with USB-C and was from a reputable brand, I bought the superlight 2.
Or they could just give the option of changing the polling rate from 4K to 2k. Just like razer let’s you switch the polling rate from 4k to 2k and even back down to 1k. Then compatibility based on hardware wouldn’t be an issue at all.
Lmao hilarious and great video. So glad this channel exists
if we're talking about polling rate, let's not forget that the viper v2 pro and deathadder v3 pro initially released with compatibility of up to 1KHz polling rate
this is because the dongle razer sold that allowed up to 4KHz polling rate was sold months after their release, and was sold separately
so if logitech's superlight 2 can go up to 2KHz it's not the end of the world, maybe their MCU is capable of binding to a 4KHz, 8KHz, or even a 16KHz dongle that logitech can release in the future
let's not doubt logitech, they were the same company who were at the forefront of developing lightspeed wireless tech
Definitely not 16k hz
You'll know when logitech feels the pressure when they fix the double clicking issues.
For me, the killer was the fact that the performance between the gpx1 and gpx2 is negligible (less than 5% better click latency on double the polling rate), and the fact that they charge so much money for it compared to the competition. I do understand why they went for 2khz though, because, like Pwnage said in their posts about their Stormbreaker, 2khz is the sweet spot between better mouse performance, without hurting battery life and game performance, plus, there are still games out there, that don't play very well on 4khz.
Click latency is independent of the polling rate, it's more about the MCU implementation.
You can definitely feel the difference between 1K and 4K on a 240hz monitor. BTW I think DeathAdder V3 Pro might have be the best out there right now.
Deathadder v3 wired (not pro), viper mini signature edition and the new finalmouse releases are the best rn

the end of the video tho. They need to make a mini and extra large version of this mouse for people who don't have standard sized hands, or who want to use a smaller mouse to aim better with.
I think the main reason that the gpx is nice, is that everyone uses it, basically every content creator uses it u see it as the most used mouse in pro play, at least in fps games and it's just a safe shape.
I pretty much bought all the top mice out in the market, there is just something about GPX that gives it more control, probably the turtle shape of it since it's so high your palm can rest on it giving you more control of the mouse.
Most pro teams can use what ever mouse they want. The pro players choose to use it. The shape is goated. I would rather have a solid 2k polling than a bad half ass 4K or 8 k that last 4 hours.
I have waited for them to update it to USB-C and new switches, so I pulled the trigger. It’s a great mouse, gives you a lot of control and the shape is very safe so that it will suit most people.
While I’m here using a v2 pro with 4K hrz lol sheit I wanted the gpx2 but never owned a Logitech
If you didn’t know windows updated their scheduling for a higher polling rate mouse to run effectively without impacting gaming performance as it has. I had massive stutters in Apex running at 4k on the Viper V2 Pro with a 4090 and 13900k. Put it at 2k and it was much better, though I still had issues holding 300fps at 1440p (which the 4090 and 13900k can do easily). They released this update late spring or early summer and it completely fixed the issue. So yes it hits the cpu but the big issue was the scheduling in windows, and that’s been fixed. I now run at the 4k polling in every game with absolutely no issues. This needs to be talked about as it’s a huge point of consideration when making a purchasing decision, and it doesn’t seem to be common knowledge at this point.
Not everyone is running bleeding edge consumer hardware.
@@MeatNinja I know this my point was that the problem hasn't been CPU limitations causing the stuttering in high polling mice as much as people thought and the update to windows was a shadow drop. I happened across an article on it and tried and it had fixed the problem. This is something no one seems to be talking about and the word needs to be spread so more people know they can use their peripherals how they were intended.

idk what people were expecting the superlight is already as close to perfect as it gets, the only improvements they could possibly make were usb c and lower price tag
Mushy side buttons, stiff clicks, subpar sensor, horrible skates, mid coating and 60 grams for $160. Seeing as how Chinese companies can do all of that better and charge only $35, I was expecting A LOT more from the company that was once at the top of the industry.
even if 4k polling rate is very niche and not that noticeable they should have implemented it in the G pro X superlight 2 and if someone doesn't like 4k polling rate or their CPU is handling it badly then they can just turn it back down to 1k polling rate.
also make it so 1k Hertz is the default option with a warning on the 4k option just so the 15yr old kid mentioned in the video isnt getting screwed over ....
If someone is spending $160 on a mouse, they should have a good enough CPU to handle 4k hz. And 4k hz is very noticeable on high refresh rate monitors.
im still sticking with an Xtrike mice with a cable and i love it
I bought a 50 euro mouse with 8k pooling rate and 53 grams. It s called Hyperx Haste 2 wired. Best choice if you want a light weight mouse. Wireless version has some problems, but the wired version is verry good for this price. Also I have an i7 8700k oc @ 5.1ghz and I don t feel a drifference in fps from 1k pooling rate to 8k. Maybe if u have and older gen cpu on ddr3 you gonna have some problems
Launch warzone in CPU intensive scenario and then you will feel the impact. Basically you can only feel when your CPU is already struggling in the game. 400fps in cs wont be an issue when you turn on 8k polling rate
All I know is I freaking love my GPX2. It's by far the best mouse I've ever owned and I've owned a bunch. So what if it's not cutting edge if everything about it is perfect for me. And I don't get the hate on the button clicks....I really like them. They feel much more deliberate and satisfying for lack of a better word.
Like ive been saying 4k is literally snake oil. Majority of gamers arent running the latest CPU, GPU, etc to be using anything passed 1k polling rate. It's just flexing that you have a 4k polling rate mouse.
its not targeted towards "majority of gamers" its a flagship product made to be the best and if you were actually good at a fps game you will take 4k over 1k polling rate any day
Agree heavily with this, I’ve been switching between the GPX and DAV3 playing cs. I notice absolutely no difference at all, 0.
Or having the razer viper 8khz as a flex. I have it but i use 2k for every game except overwatch, with ow i use 4k polling rate. I cant even play with 8k since it just makes fast movements buggy

Few games support more than 2K Polling rates.
It really sucks cause I use Logitech and loved them for a long while. Now there had been so many issues with their products.
Currently, I am using a G703 and the left click is buggy af probably due to the drivers.
I have found a clip on youtube the has the same problem as I where the left click, whilst held down does not register as so. This causes me to do a spary pattern with only 1-2 bullets shooting out. And if I keep holding it down, it will randomly start shooting again.
Other times, it crashes my computer when I turn off the mouse/headset prior.
It just really sucks
i tried every variant of the gpro and the consistent problem ive been having with them was:
shitty battery life
scroll wheel being ass after a few months of casual use
software being buggy
i swapped to the razer viper ultimate and havent looked back since
Mouse wont last over a year of heavy use.
I think the main reason why Logitech went with 2k polling instead of 4k polling is to not have excessive battery consumption. There's a chance we might even see a firmware update in the future.
Not possible with current dongle as pointed out by hausgaming. Maybe you buy a separate 4k dongle for $50 lol.
@@Ag1Le if they can make the 4k+ dongle so it doesn’t have to be in those long ass cables like most 4k+ wireless mic and is just one big thick/semi longer usb that can just be plugged in the motherboard then honestly I’d say that is a win for me. I’m a minimalist and hate having clutter on my desk or hanging cables coming out the rear of my pc lol
Battery consumption is not an argument as users can simply lower the polling rate in settings. The reason they went with 2k hz polling rate was because they were losing market share and did a rushed release.
@@HeyNavi the reason 4k hz dongles come with a wire is because 4k hz polling rate has a lower connection range than 1k hz. By having the dongle on the wire you can bring it closer to your mouse and assure it never loses connection.
@@zonathanplayz4445 I’m aware of that. Even some wired 8k cables have to be short to avoid issues, like the encoo air cord. I’m just saying if it’s possible and if they manage to do that for a 4k+ dongle then that’ll be awesome and imo worth buying.
if they say their main selling point of the gpx is for 99% of gamer can use it, i the price must also be affordable for 99% of gamers. If they priced their mouse at that money, I could guarantee that most people would have a cpu more expensive than their mouse. Besides, they can sell 4k polling rate separately.
In the end, after 3 years, they had done nothing.
gaming mice tier list when??
Love the Boardzy clip
Pretty sure 8k is possible with a firmware update and a separate dongle , internal pcb change indicates a larger antenna
Sure, let Colten talk about this stuff, he's clearly the guy that know what he's talking about. And I know this is not a PC specs channel, but giving an approximate of what PC specs you should have to handle 4k polling rate, wouldn't be a bad idea!
Thanks :) And it's definitely a nice addition, but even my expertise only goes so far. I figure there's enough PC hardware focused channels out there with that sort of info that me just repeating what they've said (since they know more than me) isn't worth it. I could definitely start including some "recommended reading" though and give people some videos to go watch to GET that bit of information. Good feedback.
If 100 ms is AVG reaction time then the difference between g pro x 2 and Razer v2 pro is 0.05%
103.45ms vs 103.4ms
*Excluding switch latency
There's so many good Chinese mouses currently in the market that's often 1/4 of its price and 1/2 for 4Khz. The only time I will buy a Logitech mouse again is when they release a smaller version of the superlight.
Not even 1/4. You can get wireless mice for $35 with a 3395 sensor. That's almost 1/5.
Personally I think 2k is the best could realistically get within reason. From experience it has the "biggest differences" between the jumps of polling rate. 2k to 4k just has a very forgettable difference.
Going from 1k to 2k should be the one that’s forgettable. Felt the same to me. Going from 1k to 4k/8k feels a lot smoother. They should’ve at least targeted 4k.
I have had two logitech wireless mice, I am carefull with my stuff and don't rage at them (never dropped or anything) but the both mice have died on me in less than a year. A friend of mine went through 6 superlights in a few years. I believe they are a bad make and that is why i went to razer, their mice are durable and have a very good feel (i went for the viper v2 pro)
Edit: both the logitechs that died on me had a right or left click that stopped working for no reason, that rendered them un-usable
I am on a huge dilemma atm should i get the v2 viper pro or superlight 2
I am transitioning form viper mini though
@@LeizXD As someone who has both, Viper is flatter by a lot so you don't get as much inner palm contact. the contact of the Viper is all in your lower palm, whereas the G Pro fills it more.
@@static6122 i play CS seriously and the fact that the viper fills the hand less makes it way more easy to flick, the fat grip of the superlight kinda makes it feel wierd, but it is still a good shape, I was just used to smaller mice and I don't tend to grip the mouse with my full hand.
Why is nobody talking about the double click issue with gpro superlight...which they upgraded to optical one in this version.
The "Polling Rate" argument is honestly sounding a lot like a repeat of monitor refresh rate of 60hz vs 144hz to now establishing that 240hz is the #1 must win way to go etc etc. (Even though you still need 'hardware' that can push that). They're definitely NOT the same tech. But my point is that the "trend" is beginning to follow suit with the whole gaming monitor refresh rate thing. 60hz monitor representing 1kHz mice in this analogy.
No, I’d say in terms of monitor analogy; 1k polling rate is 144z, 2k is 165hz, 4k is 240hz, 8k is 360+hz.
Idk about u guys but honestly 4k polling isnt that different from 2k, when u go from 1k to 2 k your tesponse times goes from 1ms to 0.5 and when u go from 2k to 4k goes down to like 0.39 if im not mistaken, thats literally nothing considering 4k eats your battery like double the time, the problem is everything else and they made the mouse somehow worse
The Overwatch 2 of gaming mice.
Pay him to do the science!
THE SCIENNNCCCEEEE!
Lower input latency isn't the biggest benefit of higher polling.
Missing in this video is a list of games that are 4K compatible.
Sensor matters too.
CSuperlight 2 just came out. If anything competition has been chasing the original SL.
Yeah, a lot of older games especially wig out like crazy when you go above 500hz. Top of mind is crossfire. Playing that game on 1k polling ruins your mouse movement
Until we get good AB or ABX tests, it's all marketing and people buying into it.
My gut reaction is that anything over 1k is unnoticeable. Especially when you have so many other components in your chain with different timings.
4k hz is very noticeable on high refresh rate monitors, especially in tracking situations
Superlight will hurt your wrist and index finger if your hands are big , because you have to claw grip it!
Always choose a mouse based on shape first. For me Viper V2 Pro clears GPX2 purely on shape regardless of the tech; this might not be the case for your hand. Even tho I do feel the difference between 1k/2k and 4k, shape always is the determining factor unless the mouse has like tech from 2005. The tech benefits are an extra bonus, not the reason to get a certain mouse.
I don't need innovation, im still waiting for a smaller version of the superlight (same shape) - but with newest technical standards like type-C charging and current best sensor. Mice are tools, they don't need to be fancy, just deliver peak-performance for the individual and that would mean different sizes and maybe shapes of the top tier ones!
I picked up a deathadder V2 from razor for less than half the price. It's ergonomic and has a higher polling rate.
Deathadder V2 has 1k hz polling rate. Deathadder v3 and viper V2 have higher polling rate.
I tried everything and bought the DA V2 pro bc it felt the best. I love the shape. The v3 pro just didn’t do it for me and I was open and willing to buy the latest.

3:12 Hey ik that guy!!
4khz polling rate is only viable IF the game you're playing actually is able to support it, if not, it will just look like you're heavily lagging, i tried 4khz with the razer viper 8khz ver, i tried it at 8khz as well, and found that 2k was the spot it doesn't go haywire
It's more hardware dependent actually, I couldn't get 4Khz to work on Source and Frostbite games, but I upgraded from 5950X to 13900K with 7200Mhz RAM and now I can pretty much play every game in 4/8Khz without issues.
@@paul2609 i went in d2 and apex was like laggy af, thought it was my internet, turns out it was the polling rate, well your system looks newer, I'm on ryzen 7 3700x, and 2060super, my 16gbram is max at 3600 speed
@@nunyabz9494 yeah that hardware is not enough for 4k hz

Bro I'm still running a 2017 Zowie EC2-A and I see no reason to switch. One thing I'm considering is going wireless, but I'll use my Zowie until it dies.
