The Sledgehammer Snare Drum bludgeons its way through the din with extreme volume and a distinct rounded tone. It features a 1.2mm hand-hammered brass shell that measures 14" x 6-1/2" with a traditional 45° bearing edge. The snare drum features...

I bought one 1,5 years ago and I am still happy with it. This video was one of the reasons I bought it so thank you!
After watching this vid now I realised I need a thinner reso to make it more sensitive again, probably a 300 hazy. The current 500 makes it a bit dead.
really well done video! Probably get one (or the latest version) based on this and a drummer using one live on SM.
tasty snare
When I replace the head, there's nothing that different then a regular snare is there?
About to pull the trigger on this snare.. Played one at a local shop.. but going to buy it off a online one... .. never bought a drum offline before.. im scared.. !
Hi Damon. We offer a "Try Before You Buy" demo program exactly for this reason! Shoot us an email at drums(at)soundpure.com if you want the details, or call us at (919) 682-5552.
I own a SledgeHammer. Do it. You WON'T be disappointed. It's a cannon and so well built.
I got it.. and using it at band pratice at this exact moment.... lol guys are tuning up.. .. BTW I love it and so does band... solid sound!!
Jam on it brother!!! Lay the smackdown with that fucker!
I have been jamming with some friends and friends of their friends and I let people play on my kit as long as they dont mess with it or break it and I always get compliments on the snare. I recommend it.
I'm looking for a snare drum that doesn't have that annoying ring like you listen to a bucket. any ideas?
Use moongel
Svarte Natt well usually metal snares have the most ring (brass is the best compromise between wood and metal). If you don't want that ring look for a wood dry snare, or use moongel. Or both!
It's the snare shell/heads/dampening. Try Remo powerstroke 3.
Evans Genera HD-batter, Evans 300 hazy-resonant
Eq it
killer drum but I wish it had more contrast to the appearance. maybe some black nickel hardware
You could swap it out for Tama die cast hoops in black nickel.
Can't find one anywhere..
Same. I want one so bad.
Have they stopped making these?
Yeah I think so. Every now and then you can find these new for their original price ($400USD), but for the most part everything I've seen has been $600+ used on reverb. Well worth it though!
@@drummer4mysavior glad I haven’t sold mine!
@@chrissalazar7650 Same!!!
@@drummer4mysavior the new version is the persuader
is it better to get this or the black widow?
Two completely different snares. If you want a ton of body with a loud crack and aren't bothered by overtones (which is very common in metal drums), get this snare. If you want subtle overtones with a warmer sound and a bit less body, get the black widow.
+charldaughter
thanks for your explanation
my church plays mostly pop hymn-ish songs,
so i guess we need maple
black widow it is
Yohanes Adi Nugroho No problem. Glad I could help. I look forward to owning a black widow some day. I currently own the sledgehammer, but you can never go wrong with black panther snares :)
***** totally agree, basically all black panther series are great..i would want to have complete black widow kit..but the price is way too expensive :)
I have this snare and the Black Widow, between the two, I can play any genre. The Sledgehammer is more versatile then you would think! They both are for that matter; great snares!!
Why would you use "guy" knowing here are female drummers out there?
Ohh my gay.....🤦🤦🤦
@@Subforsubsc What's the matter? You lost an audition to a girl? You poor bitch.
I'm looking for a snare drum that doesn't have that annoying ring like you listen to a bucket. any ideas?
What snare do you have at the moment?
Jayshern I don't have any. I use whatever is available in rehearsal room
My idea is to just put something over the batter head like a cut out drum head (which is what I do) so it doesn't have any ring. The type of wood/metal used I think would come down to personal preference.
Svarte Natt try the tama slp big black steel snare
Use evans hybrid head.
