    keep in mind to measure the ch341a pin 4 and 8 volt first before "fixing" as some dont have 5volt problem depending on pcb factory.

    I had a torture with a clamp for 2 days, could not get it to stick and then i made a lucky contact but reading was inconsistent, it could not erase chip, then could not verify, etc. etc, assorted errors; now i found this video that confirmed that clamp is a pain; some soldering skills and i could take the bios out of motherboard, and use the 200 mil SOP8 adapter on the CH341A programmer; i will post edit after my experiment;

      I also have problem with inconsistent reads ans not being able to upload a baclup of the bios. Am using the clamp.
      Can we assume the main problem is the clamp and bad connection to the bios? So I shoud either fiddle around with the clamp or desolder the bios? Or is the problem maybe something else?
      Thankful for your vid!

    The voltage issue of the ch341 affects the 3.3v eeproms only with the 1.8v adapter the voltage is correct for the data pins i used mine on both chips without modification but i consider getting another one and mod it, as for the clip i got no issues reading 3.3v bios chip on board i got the same readings using the clip and the bios adapter but for the 1.8v bios chip i got different readings sometimes the chip was not even detected despite checking with the multimeter the bios pins to make sure they're making contact with the bios legs so yes the clip is to be avoided btw the neoprogrammer feels more trustworthy than the other ch341 tools. Nice demonstration

    A simpler 3.3v mod is to cut the 5V trace on the back, and then bridge / jumper the 3.3V and 5V header pins beside the ZIF socket. Then bridge the 3.3v pin on the regulator to capacitor C4, which connects directly to pin 9. No wires or lifted pins required.

    • @theodordan680
      @theodordan680 Před 7 měsíci +1

      i actually did the 3.3v mod..all i got was able to read ic`s but not write into them...software lock up and thats it...put back the 5v original configuration and worked normal

    • @taylorsharp5928
      @taylorsharp5928 Před 7 měsíci +5

      @@theodordan680 Interesting. I've also seen another electronics repair youtuber showing that it's only 5v when there's an open circuit, and it drops to ~3.3v when you connect it to a chip. so it seems the mod is really not necessary at all.

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  Před rokem +5

      Well, different technicians with different opinions, but you have to decide whether you want to stay safe or not. I have also learnt much from Sorin, he is a great technician. However, he has not eaten wisdom with a spoon and he is known for doing slightly dangerous things to accelerate the repair attempt. Good for him if it works out, but bad for a beginner who is not able to differentiate. Best regards

    • @gseperd9177
      @gseperd9177 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@fairrepair_en Don't be jealous, just watch Sorin's video, he is right on the money and anyone who bothered to hook it up and do a simple voltage test would have seen the voltage auto adjust. The mods were done out of ignorance not wisdom. In this case he ate wisdom with a golden spoon.

    • @neovita3818
      @neovita3818 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@gseperd9177please what? Auto adjustment of voltage using a non adjustable constant voltage regulator? 😂 Some people have to start to think, before they post...
      What Sorin said on his video is partially correct (the part with the low current there he got correct) and i do have a lot of respect of him. But the part with the voltage he got completely wrong! His opinion conflicts with the basic physics of semiconductors and may (and will sooner or later) lead to a permanent damage of data or the rom containing chip itself. Can it be replaced easily? Yes! Can the lost data be recovered? Hell no, not in that rare case! Do you want to be responsible for a loss of maybe very important data that may ruin your career? Maybe, i am not you to tell that.
      Sorin is living in the UK, but there are other contries in this world with much more strict regulations and even law enforcement in such cases. One wrong step and bye bye your commercial licence forever.
      What you may believe out of lacking knowledge, is your own problem. It is not possible, to change the physics of the world, we are living in, so it fits yours or someone elses liking. Period set in stone.

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  Před 6 měsíci

      @@saeedoubari2430 there are communities with many members who have dumped their known good BIOS firmware. These files can be used for testing purpose. The "BIOS Pro's" can extract the DMI, like serial number, Windows license, etc from the corrupt file and Transplantation it into these known good files, then finally a so called "Clean ME" and the BIOS firmware should be succesfully restored. For Details you need to talk to someone else though. I am more the "Hardware guy" and I am still asking my "Pro" when in trouble... :-)
