I actually need 100-120 grams of protein. When I would get only 60-80g of protein my periods stopped. I thought I was in menopause but my hormone lab tests said I was not in menopause. Once I went up to .8-1g per pound of body weight, my hormones normalized. I was actually in amenorrhea because my body said, oh, you are in starvation mode and we must stop your cycle.
So when protein went to 100+ grams, my body started functioning normally again.

When you go carnivore, your body may need to gain weight initially, in order to nourish the body, because the body was suffering from lack of nutrients. So the body will gain weight before it finds a healthy equilibrium, before the body can level out to a normal weight.

Also depends on what food is being consumed. Highly processed foods and seed oils are absolutely the worst for us, but some people think any fat is "good" as long as they are low- carb and that they can eat all these processed keto-friendly products. -Lost 32 pounds (187lb--> 155lb)
    -Sleeping significantly better
    -Way more energy
-My skin is almost completely clear for the first time in a decade.
-Healed my hunger and satiety cues
-Very easy to adhere to, even during parties and eating out. There are always (delicious) options, even in a pinch.

I've just finished a big pile of lamb shanks and lamb neck slow cooked in home made bone broth that I reduced down at the end to a thick sauce that was absolutely divine. I've been on carnivore for 12 weeks. I lost 5 pounds slowly in 1st month (175 to 170) and nothing the last 2 months. I figured my 69 year old body was healing. so I stuck to meat, eggs, and a little dairy. I still put heavy cream and a bit of sweetener in my large a.m. coffee. Sadly, I still drink 8 to 10 ounces of coke zero daily (which doesn't cause cravings for sugary food).
While listening to this video, I weighed myself. OMG I AM DOWN TO 167 POUNDS. Its a miracle. I am pleased. Yippee...Going for a walk with my dogs.

I went into carnivore for the only intention of healing my body. I had Celiac disease for 34 years. Years of constant diarrhea, bloating, nausea along with fibromyalgia and CRPS, also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. A severe nerve, muscle and nerve disease. Causing chronic pain. I also suffered from Barrett's esophagus. I had burned up my esophagus as a result of CD and excessive use of Ibuprofen. I did go gluten free and dropped from 188 to 142. Gaining back to 155. I saw the carnivore diet for gut health health and started on February 6th of this year. 2 months later I am down to 122!!🎉 Most important my gut issues are gone!! I am letting my body heal. My gut, my hormones, and all that needs to be healed. No carbs and no sugars were gone because going GF in the beginning of 2021 made this very easy to slip into. One great change is the mental fog is completely gone!🎉. I know can sit in my other pain and really listen to my pain and understand what is going on. My meds have decreased but some I will have to continue to take. I'm feeling the inflammation reduce tremendously. We have to pay attention closely to our bodies. I'm 57 and this is a lifestyle for me. I so love all your videos and your energy. Thanks to your guest. And I am walking now as well!! Peace and Blessings to you all and to your partner 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I do single day fat fasts, and they work well for me. Beyond 24 - 36 hours I don't feel "amazing" anymore. I am also lean already, so I think it's probably our bodies letting us know we don't need to just fat fast, but need some protein too. But one day fat fasts a few times a month make me feel really energized. I also do the 1 tbsp of butter right before bed and it makes me sleep like a baby. My cortisol got a little out of whack in menopause, and this took care of it.

My healing was hormonal. The first 90 days on carnivore ( after being stuck at the same weight/measurements for months while on keto) my menstrual cycle went into a frenzied overdrive. It had been incredibly heavy for years, but these healing months were 20x worse, plus additional weeks of breakthrough bleeding. Went to doc to determine if I had a fibroid, and thankfully not. I was pretty anemic after all that.
Now that my body has healed and hormones adjusted, everything is GLORIOUS.
If I had known it could be like this, I'd have gone carnivore JUST for the better menstrual cycles. Forget about the bonus weight loss.

One thing that I have noticed as I've been on my own keto/carnivore journey is that very little good information is provided for women over 65. What is workable for a 20, 30, 40, and 50 year old is not as workable at 71. Even the info provided by medical and nutritional experts we follow on CZcams etc, is geared toward a generalized younger demographic. I was at a plateau for over 6 months after losing a little over 60 lbs. I was almost ready to give up when I added a little more fat. I can’t eat butter, butter bites and such. I have to add fat in cooking and eat fatty foods. It worked. I’ve stared losing but very slowly. But I’m thinking if my body hasn’t worked in harmony for 40 years it may take longer to heal completely. I feel better every day. And even though I’m old I’m not in a rush. This high fat just resonates with me because I have a couple of autoimmune issues to deal with & a gut issue to heal. I was trying to keep track of calories at 1600-ish….but with high fat…you can’t get enough protein at that level. Now I’ve been eating at about 80-85% upped calories to like 2100-2400 😳 And yes…no weight loss, but no weight gain…and after the first couple of adjustment weeks…I feel great and feel more energy! I do think we have some healing to do before our bodies can release more weight! Keep the faith, y’all!!! 🙏❤️ Edit: I read and have seen other commentators say it takes between 3-6 MONTHS to get fat adapted. But the trick is to eat cold butter and/or cooled fatty meat to start and even with that, digestively…it took about 6 weeks for my system to better handle the extra fat. 👍🏻

Since starting diet my blood sugars are stable and in low range all the time and thats unheard of for me as type 2 diabtetic and, that's weaned off all medications. My goal is to reverse diabetes completely and losse the tummy before menopause because uts known to add weight arround the middle for women. That would be terrible for my health if that happens. God willing this is the best advise and i can live like this and become healthy full time. Wishing everyone the best on this carnivore diet.😊

Sorry but many of us went through an excruciating ordeal with menopause. Never had many hot flashes or flushes but just about everything else...severe anxiety, depression, loss of sleep, emotional wreck, lack of concentration, attention span, increased pain and arthritis, quick to anger and change of mood, loss of emotional control...to the point of getting fired from my job. I had a complete nervous breakdown and had to go on disability. But my mom, who's still alive at age 90, says she never had any problems at all. Everyone is different.

I fortunately had very few symptoms going through menopause only getting the occasional hot flash and some sleep disturbances. So I was lucky in that regard. But 8 years post menopause and I started bleeding. I had a d&c and for a year all was fine until I started bleeding again. Apparently my uterine lining was thinking and was causing the bleeding. I had it removed and they tested the uterus and found precancerous cells. Glad I had it removed but menopause definitely is not easy for us women!

@Jamie Schlegel I see. That is a lot of begin with, perhaps. Is it worth initially just trying to go by taste, so stop when it stops tasting good? Animal fat is supposed to be pretty good so fatty meat would be a good balance. That's what I think, logically - if I'm eating a lot more meat with fat, then that's a healthier balance than if I just ate loads of butter. I eat a bit of butter with my eggs and meat now. But I prefer to buy fattier meat. No issues so far but then again, I'm still a newbie.

The protein aims for ideal weight is like a BMI. It doesn't take into account bone size, muscle mass and fat composition. Nor age since as we get older we need more protein than younger ppl to synthesize muscle building. Since carnivore, I have lost fat, but definitely gained more muscle as well which improves health.
