    Pretty high level stuff here for the most part. Diaz Acosta brought the right game plan with heavy, high balls to Tsitsipas’s backhand and drop shots when he got too far back, but Tsitsipas is so tough, physically and mentally believe it or not. In that run from 2019-21, I just remember it being almost impossible to convert break points on his serve. Guys like Djokovic or Nadal would go 4/15 against him.

    Quality match. Tsitsipas has 2 weaknesses: Bounce backhand and drop-shot: Backhand has lack of control with the bounce height and he does not have the acceleration for court-coverage. Apart from that he has a solid Clay game with good tactics and strong serve, but he has those 2 exposures for the top players to exploit. You can see Diaz Acosta tried to exploit both.

      Do you mean Stef's drop shots or getting to the opponent's drop shots? I will admit, I was surprised b/c Stef usually makes a lot more drop shots on clay and he goes charging after opponents' drop shots more often, unless his legs are tired - which could be after Monte Carlo. The bounce is what makes Stef's backhand more effective on clay.

    Tsitsipas has a huge problem with his forward movement! His lateral is great, but he moves forward so so late. And that's why he gets dropshotted like there is no tomorrow! He will never beat Alcaraz (for example), if he doesn't improve that. Doesn't even chase most dropshots.

      This used to be a bigger problem for him imo. I think he's actually improved on that quite a bit recently. In this match maybe he didn't run as much as he should have but I'm sure that has more to do with fatigue since he's been playing non stop since MC and his court positioning too.

    • @orchidpanda2253
      @orchidpanda2253 Před 12 dny

      He does not have a huge problem with forward movement. Early in his career he was known for sprinting after drop shots and making returns. He's a little older now and more strategic about how he expends energy. Also maybe his legs were tired from Monte Carlo. His issue with Alcaraz seems to be more mental scar tissue than his forward movement - he just needs more self belief again.

    I thought Tsitsipas was going to lose in the 3rd set. I started watching when he was up 5-4 serving for the match. Then he was down match point at 5-6. After he took it to a tie break I had to leave. Just now was able to see he pulled it off.

    Why couldnt he skip this 500 to preserve for upcoming 1000 in Madrid, having just won 1000 in Monte carlo? Why play consecutively for a small tournament like this?

    • @perfectbalance7329
      @perfectbalance7329 Před 12 dny +1

      because he has points to defend there. he has to perform really well in this clay season because the atp finals race is going to be very tight. Moreover without Novak nadal sinner and Carlos in there he is the favourite to win it. he isn’t in a place where he can skip tournaments because he desperately needs points and a first 500 title. I don’t think 500s are small tournaments tho. especially for stef because he is 0-10 in 500s finals.

      Madrid starts on Wednesday and Stefanos may play his first match on Friday or Saturday, so it's not a big problem.

    • @orchidpanda2253

      Ditto what @perfectbalance said, and also I think Stef has been so close to winning Barcelona on 3 other occasions that he'd like this feather in his cap and this year is a great opportunity. I also had the same thought that maybe Stef could've taken a rest - but there's no guarantee that he'll go deep in Madrid - especially as it is a faster surface and players like Alcaraz, Sinner, Rune, Djokovic and Zverev could really bring it, and no guarantee in Rome b/c Djokovic usually raises his level there and Sinner will be pumped up for home tournament like Turin. I wouldn't be surprised if Stef doesn't really go all out in Madrid and saves himself more for Rome, RG and Olympics this year.

    Everybody (even many of you) was bullying Tsitsipas all year so far because of his pathetic appearances, and because he's doing well for 10 days now in his favorite type of court, y'all started the "CONGRAAATS!!!" and "RESPEEEECT!!!".
    He wins 1-2 trophies every year, and this is that time of the year for 2024. I wanna see if all of you will continue your "respects" when he starts his usual downfall again after this 2-week success he's having.
    And as you saw in this match, he almost lost for a few centimeters (1:53).
    He's playing almost every day for 2 weeks now, he's starting to get tired. He's human, you know. With a very big ego that doesn't let him take a break. And eventually, it will turn against him, again.
