  • So here we have not only a dash camera for front ( and rear ) in HD 1080p......but also a wired live-feed video to give you the perfect "digital rear view mirror" for day to day use. Just jump into the car and go as usual, assured that this loads up and starts recording onto your 128GB SD card..... but also gives you a super clear image of what's happening behind you. ( no delay & no distortion, mainly because it's a wired connection ).

    Excellent review! Thanks for sharing., Did you wind up just useing the cigarrette ligher attached, or did you have to do any additional wiring ?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 3 lety +1

      Cheers. Ended up using the cigarette lighter attachment....was tempted to buy the hard wire kit as apparently it activates some time lapse feature in the unit, that means it can record 24/7 but condense down the footage so the SD card does full up to quickly. 👍

    Thank you for the video. I'm thinking of getting the hard wire kit so I can record all the time inside the jeep (since my doors are off all summer). Im thinking of getting 128gb or 256gb. Does it time lapse when car is off? Or you have to set it up each time you leave the car? Tks

    • @cmlegend88
      @cmlegend88 Před 2 lety

      Oh and is the time lapse just for the front camera or the rear as well?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 2 lety +1

      I've not got the hard wire kit, but I did look into it when I bought the item....and yes, once it's hard wired then the time lapse should be an option to turn on in the menu setting. Then once on, it should time lapse both front and rear camera's all the time, even when the car is off and parked up. I believe it goes into a constant low power consumption mode.

    Hi, nice video!!! Just a question, the mirror must be connected all the time on 12v? Or it is not necessary?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah...there's no battery in it as such so 12v is the only way to power it unfortunately 👍

    @Rob and Mel, does this cam still work ok 2.5 years after this video was posted? Do you have any updated comments to make about it?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před rokem +2

      Yeah it's still working perfectly 😊 and it's been pretty robust and reliable and I don't recall it ever giving me any problems. No issues with recording of content, and so far no corrupt files which is the main thing. I've even removed it from one car and fitted it into a new car; and still fine

  • @Soc-Analyst-Security
    @Soc-Analyst-Security Před 2 lety

    I just got one and I have a question about recording during the night, if I lead it plugged in in the 12v input, the dashcam would record all night? and if the camera would do it, the car battery would run out? I did not buy the power camera.

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 2 lety +1

      You can buy a special lead that goes into your fuse box .... It's been a while since I last looked into this but apparently it means 24/7 recording especially for the night time... in like a 'slow time-lapse'. So the recorded content takes up less power and less memory space on the memory card. I nearly got it from mine but i wasn't confident with the fuse box powering it. Just check out Amazon. It's a literally just a special lead and fuse connection hard wire kit 24/7

    Hi at 4:31, is the playback being played through the mirror dashcam, or did you remove the SD card and watch the footage on a computer? When i watch the playback in my car on my mirror, everything seems so choppy and laggy, but everything seems to be playing back so smooth.

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před rokem

      That's the SD card in a laptop being played back. But playing back on the mirror screen should be relatively smooth. ( I've not really tried it to be honest ).. just try checking the content out on a laptop ... just to make sure it's decent. I could just be a play back frame rate issue thing.

    • @phodacbitch
      @phodacbitch Před rokem

      @@poppypicanto Thanks for getting back to me! Just one more question. When you remove the SD card from your dash cam and connect it to your pc/laptop to view the videos, do you need any special program to watch the videos?

  • @SS-fu8hv

    Is there any setting on there so that when you are using the rear view mirror you can flip the image ?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes... You're able to flip and rotate the images, so it looks good when you're physically looking at the mirror in the car. But as I then discovered when you look at the actual " video content" playing it back on a laptop for example the license plates numbers are mirrored flipped annoyingly. I had to use video editing software to correct that.

    If I want to use the rear camera on my grill, i can still use it as the mirror?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah...If you mount the rear camera on your FRONT grill then you could still use the mirror as a standard reflective mirror ....but you need to go into the setting to turn off the display.

  • @michaelcanas5521
    @michaelcanas5521 Před 3 lety

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 3 lety +2

      Looks like there is an option in the settings so it can be turned off after 1 min....3min..or 5 mins( then used as a regular mirror ). I tend to leave myn on permanently, as a digital mirror

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před 2 lety +1

      you'll need to take the SD card out the mirror and put it into a laptop / PC. ...then transferring the contents over to a hard drive. Bit of a flap I admit. 👍

    how do you make the guidelines for reverse parking work ?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Před rokem

      On the installation process there's an additional wire which you actually have to tap in to the power wire of the 'reversing light'. So every time you shift into reverse, the grid lines will appear on screen. I never bothered because I just didn't want the hassle of trying to access the reversing light wire. But the option is there if you willing to do the installation.

      So far my one seems to be working still which is fortunate. I think ebay sell invidivial cameras & screens....so I was on the thinking that should one part fail ( either the actual camera or the screen ) then I would just buy a similar item off ebay (to replace the broken bit). It's just a bit of a gamble knowing if the camera is PAL or NTSC.
