    I believe in agnosticism.
The problem with atheism and theism is the fact that they are both sure about their belief without having any evidence to support their claim.
Agnosticism is just a statement and not an actual religion. Agnostic people believe that without solid evidence you cannot for sure say that something can or cannot be. For example lets say you’re an atheist and you are claiming that there is no god.. how can you be sure? Can you prove it to me? And same thing goes for theistic people, how can you prove to me that god does exist?
If you are hypothesising an idea to explain an unknown phenomenon or a thing without actually having any evidence to support that idea, then you’re making a theory. And a theory only show’s the idea of you’re belief, it doesn’t prove it in any way. So how can you be sure about existence/absence of higher power(or God), if you dont have any evidence? Exactly, you can’t! So until someone does prove something, you cannot say for sure that something is or isn’t. This is why im agnostic, i refuse to believe in something without having any solid evidence or logical explanation to it.

Thanks for that insight. I've always wanted to read the Jefferson bible. They say it removed the propaganda and faith based teachings but left the wisdom, laws, and lessons intact. I've never considered myself agnostic but based on your description I guess I am. I'm just surprised nobody ever pointed that out to me. I guarantee there are people who claim to be atheists only because they dont beleive the stories they grew up with. Most self proclaimed atheists are simply not interested in the topic of religion. Some beleive they know, but most just know that they don't beleive what they were taught. I myself once thought I was an atheist even though I never claimed to know anything. To think I was actually using an agnostic ideology to defend atheism. Who knew?

@@toddfordr8218 Dude thats exactly my point! You will be surprised to know how many opinion’s i’ve changed over this topic by just explaining them what agnosticism is. A lot of atheists just never heard of the term and so when they do, they tend to switch their belief. The thing is, is that many people become atheist after bringing up the argument that there is no evidence of god, but they are forgetting to question that very same argument… like if there is no evidence of god, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t exist, how can i be sure that he doesn’t? The obvious thing is that you do not know. And so this is where agnosticism plays its part… it’s literally an answer to the big question.. is god real? Agnostic would reply with “i dont know”. Its very realistic reply and as i realist myself, its the most comfortable belief to me.

Small tip to avoid generalization, I suggest you use the terms "strong atheism" and "strong theism" ( 2:27 ) instead of "atheism" and "theism", because what you describe as "being sure" more accurately falls under the "strong" labels.
Most people who describe themselves at atheist do not fall into the "strong atheist" camp as they recognize that perfect knowledge is not possible and they would never say they're "sure" there's no god. They use the term "atheist" because as a practical matter, having weighed the evidence they've decided there's a much higher *probability* god does not exist. This is essentially discussed between 3:39 - 4:46 . I would compare it to belief in ghosts or psychic powers, you can't know for sure whether these things exist but as a practical matter most people do not believe they do because the evidence overwhelmingly debunks them.
By all means someone can be simultaneously agnostic and atheist or simultaneously agnostic and theist as agnosticism is concerned with *knowledge* and atheism/theism is concerned with *belief* , in other words you can not know something for sure and not believe in it, commonly called agnostic atheism.

The other two aren't applying for membership to anything, so it shouldnt matter to them. Those subcatagoroes include too many undecided people. I'd just call those people on the fence or undecided. It sounds like a religious measuring stick to me. Nobody else cares to what degree you dont claim to know, or how much you beleive no God exists.

You literally cannot describe different types of Agnosticism, then go on to label someone an Agnostic atheist/theist, which are directly conflicting positions. Are they a Weak Agnostic/Strong Atheist? A Pragmatic Agnostic/Weak Atheist? What combination are you putting under that banner? All of the possible combos? It makes no sense to confuse the issue. With so many different religions all believing by faith in a God or Gods that they all think is/are real, yet teaching different doctrines at the same time, the question then begs, "What can anybody not believe by faith, and does this belief make anything true". This, l'd really love to know. In the absence of evidence truth is uncertain. Therefore, judgement or any decision making must be suspended. For this is the most honest thing a person can ever do. Anything more than this are merely presumptuous speculations that the religious world call faith. No wonder knowledge is the enermy of faith and religion!

  • @americanliberal09

There are no such things as strong atheism, and strong theism, because atheism just means "0 gods" whereas theism just means there is a god.
And, besides. Agnosticism isn't the only thing that isn't a religion. Theism, deism, pantheism, and panentheism aren't really religions, either. So agnosticism isn't really all that unique in that department.
Agnosticism is not synonymous with irreligion, because agnostics can also be religious.
3:57 Yes, it is, because the belief in the existence of god was never a binary thing before.

Wrong. Agnosticism isn't synonymous with non-religious, because it only deals with metaphysics. It doesn't say anything about not being affiliated with any particular religion. And, besides. Theists can also be non-religious.
So you do even realize that there are plenty of "non-religious theists" who do exist, right?
*if any agnostic is religious then he has no right to call himself an agnostic einstein akso agnostic*
Ummmm....Dude. Have you ever heard of "non-theistic religions" before? There's a religion called "unitarian universalism" that allows agnostics, atheists, and other non-theists into their congregation. So, therefore, agnostics can also be religious.

    Misguided about
    AGNOSTICISM
In ancient Greek, A means nothing, there is no, nihilism. Something which doesn't exist or never be. That's a contrary on East tradition, by this case, in India - Hinduism. A means something which exist or "being". "Being" as a word reffered to a word of creature. Like a word "a-gama" in Sanskrit, the languange of Hinduism. Since past, West and East always contradictive.
A word "Being" presented by many forms. Could be something divine, then it will be "supreme being". now, we could fingered what describes its purposed.
Gnosis is something spirtual but not religious. Its meant "trust". And inside "trust" there is "conviction". Then appeared a term "mystic" from it. Something what belief had a supernatural power.
When this "spiritual" meet and mixed by something "religious" so it called "syncretic".
Mystic actually about knowledge of soul not by modern science meaning, like psychology science. Its about supernatural power which could control creatures. And it came from soul, precisely, human soul. So, it's so related by the anthropocentric understanding which also connected by a belief of Deism. In Java, Indonesia, it calls Ilmu Kebatinan although a word of Batin refers to the inner man or stomach or belly.
Sufism often had been pointed as samelike mysticism, but it's wrong. Sufism discussion about the heart of human. Not about the soul moreover inner man/belly.
Meanwhile something religious came form religion brings something higher, called spiritual. Spiritual derived from a word of Spirit. Then we know about a term Holy Spirit.
So we must separate those by terms according its field discussion, ie about human soul, human original energy through his stomach as its natural draft, the field of spirit and the science of the heart. Four natural khowledgement for a form of human existences.
From this writings we knew that a person could be had same religion with other person but they could be different in their beliefs or trust. And ofcourse, Agnosticism wasn't directly meanings of had no religion...

Anyone who witnesses the wonders in the creation of God and denies His existence, is a fool.
There are many historical, prophetic and archeological proofs for the Bible that atheist experts and professionals in their field recognize. Christianity is not based at all on blind belief like atheism is. But some of the greatest and clearest proofs for God and His Word are the negative consequences for EVERY single sin condemned in the Bible. All sins hurt both the sinner and those around him/her.
Even more amazing and miraculous is the proof that there are millions and millions of lives transformed by Jesus and His words. They changed so many lives and turned many morally bankrupt people into real role-models. They turned atheists, homeless addicts and even criminals into and all kinds of successful and great people. It's simply MIRACULOUS, no one can deny it.
No other religion does that and atheism surely does NOT, lol. Atheism only brings death(spiritual and physical), immorality, greed, negativity and mindless hedonism that causes and feeds all the others. No atheist or agnostic can deny that. They can only cope and seethe or accept the FACT that Jesus is the only Way.
All who are sincere, and humble in their search for the Truth will find God.
