I'm an African American male, 22 years old and I never had a dad in my life. I always wanted to play the game but never had the time and money or influence to get me started. When I picked up the game, I was 20 years old and in college. I am so thankful for this video, love seeing what's going on here!!!

It saddens me to see the frustration and hate in the comments. As an African American looking to play golf in college we all have our people and places that helped us get into the game. If it wasn’t for my local city course and the first tee I probably would have never played golf. We need more programs like this salute to you EAL

Being a brown person in game, i have been welcomed by everyone on a muni course. Thats where my heart is. The Golf is an expensive game to play (clubs, ball, tees, course fees -$20+ every time you play). i started when i was 27, introduced to the game by my coworker. On the other hand basketball (free courts in public park) baseball (fee in public park and school) and football fame have attracted many black individuals. Tell me one Pro football player from India? Tennis on the other hand has very similar issue (tiger wood and then their was williams sisters). The golf course doesn't judge a golfer by the color of your skin. It only knows if you are up for the challenge after you paid the fees lol. Hence its a struggle to grow game of golf as most of the PGA pro's family belonged to Country club.I I suggest 1 free spot in 4some on a muni course for kids 18 and under during twilight
Got to admit, I hit the like button upon seeing the opening just because Adventure is back, but man I would have hit that button about a dozen times throughout. Such a great episode!
I agree with everything said in this, but the only reason why there isn't more black people in the PGA tour is because they obviously didn't make the cut, no one is discriminating here, if you were good enough to be on the PGA Tour you would be in the PGA Tour, it's that simple. Prime example Tiger woods, he's black, and he is one the greatest golfers in history. It's not because he's black that got him into the PGA it's because he is good at what he does.
No, that is not the only reason why there isn’t more black people making the cut. The point is that how many black people actually get the opportunities and experiences to get anywhere close to being able to make the cut, or even close to being able to step foot on many golf courses. More needs to be done to allow for young black people to get these opportunities that will allow them to even COMPETE to make the cut.
I think the issue is more that country clubs are less welcoming to black people (as a member at two golf clubs I can confirm this) and restrict the number of visible minorities... Because of this, less black people are playing golf and therefore making it to the PGA.
@@Px1899 More should be done to help young people in general. And one of the main problems is golf's just too expensive. I'm not sure if the program welcomes white kids or whatever race for that matter or that in it's self is racist and not inclusive if they don't.
Great episode dude and I think it reflects a lot of the things many of the new generation want to see in golf. More players, more laid back rules, and more diverse people playing

golf is a great game for all..but golf is expensive. teach everyone to play and succeed enough to play long term...not everyone can afford waygu A5, polo, ferraris etc..that's life..no? but you practice and get really good, you can play anywhere...my 2 cents
Golf is an expensive game. You don’t need top of line clubs to play and learn the game. What becomes expensive is playing the game, paying for the round. Bring more youth programs to expand the game to everyone.
I love golf so much but the cost is so discouraging. I think it will take a huge shift to make the game more accessible to young people and those with lower incomes
There needs to be a better structure around golf for kids. People have setup all kinds of shit for basketball and football. Seems like if you show promise as a young kid, then you are swooped onto an AAU team and magically you get rides to and from the games. get all new gear and shoes. Your'e put in front of scouts, sneaker execs etc. and get to travel and play in tournaments throughout the country.

Wow I loved this episode. I regularly play public courses in Memphis and quite often see POC playing. I have had several rounds where I have walked away with new friends after bonding over golf
This lady said, ‘we look at what makes everyone different, not just how we look, but you know what we all have in common’ ummm i hope she simply misspoke and knows that diversity goes deeper than just bodily features. Diversity of thought is what makes us unique.
Money buys everything. You wanna play at country clubs you can if you have enough money. I will never be able to play at any country club or practice my golf game every single day. There is a lot of money you need to even practice everyday let alone be good enough to join the pga tour.

There's a man nobody recognizes in this story. Rafe Botts is one of the first black PGA Tour players and needs the attention he deserves before he dies in his home at 85. Please help to contact the PGA and other social media for his sake. One of the sweetest people I've ever met
This is a amazing! With anything, any sport can be appreciated when you have progressive individuals that see what is wrong, and can acknowledge it. Putting this course on my to do list!
I think what a lot of people don't realize is a golf course requires a ton of maintenance. The Greens are like babies, they have to be cared for every single day, they are very susceptible to worms and other deceases, and the golf course requires a lot of water. Golf equipment and lessons are other subjects. There's nothing wrong with city courses!

actually not that expensive. a decent course in LA is about $50 for 5 hours. That's $10 an hour.
Just sneak on a good course for a couple holes works for me and when I want to play 18 I just walk.

Enjoyed meeting members of the Howard Golf Team. That is a coach with far more to offer than on course strategy. The program is in very good hands.
