To have your first actual slump in your life happen on your MLB debut has to fuck with the head so much. Im really hope he doesn’t struggle with this mental part, the mental toughness part. That can literally end careers before thy start, and often that’s the case for why talented MiLB players never make the show. I hope he pulls through it and comes back and succeeds. Not an Os fan but you never wanna see that, you don’t wanna see that kind of failure.

You know who else had a bit of a rocky start and struggled in the minors until he got some good mentoring in the MiLB instructional league? Chipper Jones. 😂 I bet people wrote him off back then too. He didn’t mess up his debut but he almost didn’t even get one.

People forget that some of the best to ever play struggled in their come up. Chipper Jones almost didn’t even make the show. He was mentored by some badasses in an instructional league and honed his switch hitting, got his call up and nailed his debut. But he almost didn’t even get one. Thank Willie Stargell for helping chipper fix his swings.
