Exactly 103 years before Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, Abraham Lincoln had a dream that “strangely annoyed” him. He saw a catafalque, which is a type of wood framework that supports a coffin, in the East Wing of the White House, and a Union soldier was standing guard. Lincoln walked up to the man and asked, “Who is dead in the White House?” To which the soldier replied, “The president. He was killed by an assassin.” Lincoln couldn’t shake the dream, and a week later he told a friend about it. Three days after that, he was killed by an assassin’s bullet, and his body was later put on display in the East Room of the White House. ))

This one is creepy and may make you never want to sleep again. Buddy Holly was sleeping next to his wife Maria in January 1959 when they were both roused from nightmares. They didn’t have the exact same dream, but each involved a farm, an airplane, panic, and Holly leaving Maria. Holly was so grief-stricken he started crying. Weeks later, he would try to do right by Maria by doing a winter tour in the Midwest to raise money for his growing family. When weather struck on Feb. 2, 1959, he chartered an airplane that crashed shortly after takeoff in a cornfield in Iowa and was killed on impact. Lesson: Listen to your dreams ! ))
* Princess Diana predicted on how she was going to die.
Her Butler Burrell claimed that Diana wrote him a chilling letter saying that she thought she was in danger and was worried that Prince Charles was plotting an “accident” so he could marry someone else. Burrell did not reveal the contents of the note he said Diana sent him until 2003.
“This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous - my husband is planning ‘an accident’ in my car, brake failure, and serious head injury in order to make the path clear for him to remarry.

We know about the death of Jesus Christ, and his prediction prior to it, from the books of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. They all agree that he prophesied his death, but they disagree on how Jesus made this announcement. One thing is certain though: He knew trouble was coming when he entered Jerusalem for the final time. Jesus predicted his demise with seemingly great accuracy, as in the book of Matthew he said, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him.” He takes it further when he said, “They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified.” That turned out to be exactly what happened.
I live in Wichita Falls,TX. Everytime I walk down that street, I get a creepy vibe. Now, I know the reason.

Born and raised in Wichita Falls and living in Burkburnett. Really cool story, thanks for sharing. Wichita Falls has a long history. There was another famous robbery not to far from here in Bowie TX around the same time period where gold was stolen and never found.

Tha6s actually not a true story, there was never any gold taken and stashed at the red river when they fled, the robbery is real but there was never any gold

I'm from Wichita Falls and According to the Times Record News: That's not what you'd call a skyscraper, right? Well, we do.The blueprints for the structure, at the corner of Seventh and La Salle streets, should have detailed a high-rise above downtown Wichita Falls. Developer J.D. McMahon convinced a group of investors to pool their money into this enticing project.When construction was complete, the building did not rise above the city. The blueprints, on closer inspection, listed the dimensions not in feet -- BUT IN INCHES! Scammed! McMahon, legend has it, skipped town with the money, never to be seen again.
That's quite a scam. I'm surprised they didn't beat up the guy. But it has left a pretty unique structure. Thank you so much for watching!
I live here in WF Texas, this has made me want to go look up these grave sites.. My dad is at Bowmen cemetery and it's a historical site as well I just really started looking into those as well..

The story is great, sounds just like the story in my book, How Did They Die, Murders in Northern TX 1892-1927. The murder happened where Gidget's Sandwich Shop now stands. About where the fire hydrant is today is where the telephone pole once stood. The Hollingsworth stone at the cemetery is also in my book.

The world's smallest skyscraper has a very interesting story. The designer put in a bid and plans and got paid good. He left town on the train with his money. The contractor built it according to the specks. The thing that was overlooked by the people that were having the building built was the plans were scaled to the square inch and not the square foot.
The investors tried to sue but they HAD agreed to the blueprints that were used, they simply overlooked the fact that the overall building height was listed in inches not feet.
Not much you can do at that point!
Being born and raised in Wichita Falls and knowing some about its history, which I love, I know about this robbery. The bank at the time was located on the southeast corner of 7th and Ohio where Gidgets is now. I saw it on the video at the end of this documentary. Crawford and Lewis tied their horses up at La Salle street and 7th which is just east of the bank, the street is now an alley although for historical purposes a La Salle street sign is there. After the robbery they got on horseback and crossed the tracks on the east end of 8th, then on to cross Holliday Creek at MLK and Rosewood, then onto the Charlie Thornberry area where they were caught. When they were hung, the mob hung em right there on the corner of 7th and Ohio by the back. The pole was still there in the 50's. (Ive never heard about one of the horses being shot and they rode off together on the same horse. Not saying it didnt happen, just never heard of it) Frank Hardesty who was shot on his pocket watch, drowned in Lake Wichita in 1906, just throwing that in. Captain Mcdonald died here in 1918 on Buchanan Street. Wished I knew what house. Its an historic part of town. He is buried in Quanah northwest of here about 80 miles. Thank you for including more information on Hardesty. I figured there might be an interesting story behind him as he was fairly young. I couldn't find anything on him other than a census that said he was a Saloon keeper. The information on the horse came from two different books. Each one had small chapter on the event. It's an interesting little piece of history in the town. I appreciate you watching and giving more details.
@@RhettyforHistory Lots of history everywhere. Jesse James used to hide out at his sisters house in Archer City south of here. The house was there up until the late 80's. Its been torn down now, dang it. Lots of cowboy and indian history down in Jack and Young counties as well, Ive traced some of it out and went to the locations to whatever occurred. Anyway, Im not gonna ramble on about it. But, thanks for the response.
Can't stop thinking about poor Frank Dorsey and his family, such a tragedy. This was a fascinating story and you did an OUTSTANDING job telling it. I always find it fascinating to see how the locations where stories took place look today.

A quick Google search showed that Hello Again is a furniture and consignment store in the "World's Smallest Skyscraper" at 511 7th Street.

The building was a scam pulled on some northeastern investors back in the day. it was built 1:1 instead of 1:12 or normal drafting scale or something like that. The Holt Hotel that you was right by is just as famous as the bank you sought out. Good Stuff My man!!

I’ve walked near that corner plenty of times, not from Wichita Falls, had no idea about this. Glad i saw this video! Gidget’s sandwich shop is a nice little spot to eat, I’ll be going there for other reasons now

I lived through the tornado on April 10th, 1979. Terrible Tuesday, one of the scariest days of my life.

I lived on the corner of 7th and Ohio for 3 years. They were lynched right where the Gidfets sign is located. There is the is a peice of telephone/telegraph pole next to the metal sign. I lived on the fourth floor in the apartment with 10 windows. I could not confirm, but, rumor had it that Bonnie and Clyde stayed in my apartment at one time back when it was a boarding house. They wanted that particular room so they could see all the way down 7th and Ohio. The view is really awesome from that apartment. I'm not big on the supernatural stuff, but, I had some unexplained things happen in my apartment. I once had an empty coke can fly off the counter and roll completely across my living room when I was in the bedroom. No..the a/c was off and no open windows. That's just one thing. There were many more. I really enjoyed the story! Keep it up! I love the history of interesting places!
I often drive from Ft. Worth Texas to Amarillo Texas, passing by Wichita Falls and I never would've known that little town had such a great story.
Do you know about the shootout at the white elephant saloon in Ft. Worth Texas? They have a reenactment of it every year.

Yeah. I saw something about the family cemetery, so i tried finding something here on CZcams. Didnt look to hard but couldn't find a good video. It would make a good video for you if you ever got over that way
I've heard part of the problem is that the family is really protective of their cemeteries and so it hasn't been allowed.
The building behind the 7th and Ohio 4 story building is the Bullington Northern Rail Office located adjacent to the tracks on the west side. 516 7th st. The upper floors are basically untouched over the decades

After starting the project The contractor hired to build the small skyscraper got mad and instead of building it like the blue prints said.he used inches instead footage.

*In 1945 there was 46,650 airmen being trained at Sheppard which was the largest amount of training.

I very briefly grabbed the smallest skyscraper at the end of this video but did not know the history of it then like I do now. Stayed tuned on Ruby. That is coming soon. I knew about the wrestling but all the rest I did not. Sounds like I need to make a trip back! We visited a cereal bar and arcade while we were there and I'm sad that it has closed for good because of the current events. We had a blast there. Maniac Mansion was the name.
Bonnie and clyde had a hide out house here in Wichita falls, I can take you to the house that still stands today, the owner can fill in more of the story of the hideout and he has photos of them at the same house years ago

So apparently, Frank Hardesty was a member of the Oddfellows lodge and his wife Lillie was a member of the Rebeccas lodge, the Oddfellow's female companion lodge.

I live fairly close to Wichita and found it amazing that this would pop up on my recommended. I guess it’s location based because so many residents are commenting here. I had no idea that this event happened and I’m glad you made this video. Also, where did you source all this information?
That's interesting how you found it and you're right there have been quite a few people that have found it and are from Wichita Falls. If you google the subject matter you'll fun into several different sources. There are some books and magazine articles.
I live in this area all my life. Never knew this but the building your thinking was a bank was actually a hotel. The little skyscraper it was a scam that a bunch of people invested in and then the plans I think we're in inches and not feet. That's another story you need to investigate your good at this.
The tiny skyscraper gave measurements in inches and the buyer didn't notice and paid the price site unseen by feet.

My father frank had a premonition that one of our maple trees fell unto our garage destroying his brand new 1966 Buick special (THE GREY GHOST)---HE HAD THE TREE CUT DOWN!!!!
