What I love about his performances of the National Anthem (with no vibrato or ornamentation), America the Beautiful, Amazing Grace, and This Land is Your Land is that he sings them as art pieces. He has the soul to do that. He also sings "Rebel Soldier" on an album called "Divided and United: Songs of the Civil War." I must listen to the whole album, because it seems like a representation, rather than a side he chose. But he breaks your heart with that song. Very few artists can hit the notes of anguish for "All My Tears" by Julie Miller, who is my favorite country artist. He hits it. I would love to hear him sing Vince Gill's "Go Rest High on that Mountain." That such an artist has so few followers is ridiculous, but he says he doesn't do photo shoots. :-) His life has no superficiality. My guess is that he couldn't care less. God bless him, and God bless America.
