- With the India made Aprilia RS 457 disrupting the sub 500cc sport bike segment with its stellar performance, electronics and price, Kawasaki have launched the 2024 Ninja 500 at the same price as the Ninja 400 to take it head on. But as an imported CBU unit, it still commands a much higher premium than the Aprilia and also does not have the same componentry or electronics to match its competition. So Sarge gets onboard to see if atleast the updated motor on the Kawasaki Ninja 500 packs the punch to take the fight to the Aprilia and Yamaha R3!

@@SagarSheldekarOfficial Yes but in a value driven market like India, we tend to ride the spec-sheets before buying, instead of taking a test ride.
I don’t know how, unless Kawasaki produces them in India or prices them more competitively, it is going to get successful. Probably, riding only on the Ninja brand will give some credibility.
@@ThunderApache1604VAprilia will definitely sell a lot more units than the Ninja 500 but as long as Kawasaki keeps selling off the limited stock it imports they will be fine as they have their other South East Asia markets where they sell a lot lot more.
At the end of the day it's a very good bike except for its high pricing. The Aprilia 457 despite its low pricing upfront might actually be more expensive in the long run as currently Aprilia scooters have the worst resale value in the market today.

Kawasaki also offers a thinker padded seat for taller riders. "Optional 30mm higher seat that will bring the seat height from 785mm up to a total of 815mm."
As I commented before, the local prices always differ. The Aprilia RS457 goes toe to toe with ZX-4RR here in Sweden and equally expensive is the Ninja 650. The 500 SE being €2000 or so cheaper than all three bikes. Cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, cheaper to run yet packs a decent punch.

Now this is what a review should be .....some videos just mentions the difference between 400 and 500. Sarge explains and showcases how the difference like the increase in torque helps to effortlessly helps to perform a power wheelie. This is what helps in making decisions while even considering or buying the motorcycle.

If I had the money, I would love to go with Kawasaki, because of the reliability factor. This is the same brand that builds the most value for money super bike Z900 and takes questionable decision with their middle weight bikes. Kawasaki fans will get this bike and I have no hate for them of course. I just hope that local manufacturing can be started by Kawasaki. It would help a lot with the prices and maybe even help them come with better features. I am not a nerd, but telescopic suspension looks odd on a bike that carries this price tag. I know Z650, Z650RS and Ninja 650 have telescopic at the front, but I don't understand the reason behind this decision making. If corners are being cut, why does that not apply to pricing as well?😅

I just pre-ordered a Ninja 500 SE edition, can't wait to pick it up! I went back and forth between the Ninja 500 SE and the Aprilia RS 457, but ultimately went with the Kawasaki because here in the USA Aprilia's distribution network is very small compared to Kawasaki, and so future maintenance is less of a concern with the Ninja.

I've been riding apache 310 rr for past 3 years & recently took my friend's Ninja 300 for a spin. There's a huge difference in performance, I mean Ninja rocks. But it misses out on the useful info wala TFT. Hope someday Kawasaki can address it.

It has been almost a good 5-6 years since you reviewed it, so surely needs a revisit, to what I consider the most fun sport-tourer under 10L on-road. (Consider me biased since I am a proud 2018 N650 owner, hehe).
Also, the check-engine light was on the whole time during the review Sarge. Not sure if it'd have impacted the performance in anyway (since you talked about the smoothness of the engine not at par)
The engine light is a presale indicator. Goes away after it is sold

3:40 The tree in this frame basking in soft hazy yellow coloured early morning sunlight is so artistic. Your videographers are equally amazing.
BTW. I wanted some Kawasakis to be made in Pune like the Aprilia and KTM. This would have helped Ninja to be an easier choice. For now RS 457 is the best choice people have as they have treated India with a superior bike.

Personally I'd go with the Ninja 500. Kawasaki always delivers quality and reliability. I've heard a lot of people and friends tell me they had problems with their aprilia because they often tend to use cheap parts which down the road cause problems. The Ninja 500 is just a better version of the Ninja 400 therefore It's the new best beginner bike imo. I wouldn't recommend going with the SE version tho, it's not worth the extra 800$
Hope that's not the case with the Aprilia 457 🤞🏻
I have a Pulsar n250 just got it last august. And now I am back on the net to search for the next upgrade. Has to be 500cc - 650cc. will use the next 3-4yrs test riding and experiencing all the options available. This being at the most expensive side of that spectrum.
This and the Aprilia are good options

When you start up the bike does it sound like something rattling on the right side until it warms up?

I am in the US, and have one with the 40th anniversary paint on order. We have had two 300's, and two 400's. They are all great bikes, and I prefer them on the street to the many faster, bigger bikes we have/had.
The ninja 500 with the added torque is really engaging to ride
I am more of an adventure bike lover but I saw the whole video because of this man and the way he explains everything ❤

Still happy with my RC390. I can't imagine having weak breaks at 180kmph speeds! Well, atleast at 120-140kmph speeds for me. I can stop using a single finger on the RC at 120kmph. Can't want to see what KTM will do to up their game for RC next year!! Thanks Sarge for the fab review.
