Hi Iain, great videos thanks very much. We need some more you haven’t been out for a while! Catches aren’t great on the Tay at the moment but an hour on the river is never wasted 😃
Thanks for watching Benji, just so busy at work this year unfortunately. I was out last Saturday but it was a bit of a boys day and not much sensible footage taken. I'm trying to edit it just now but not much to deal with 🤣 I'll try and post it over the weekend what there is of it. Supposed to be out tomorrow afternoon but it's pouring here and don't think it'll fish.
No one ever died wishing they’d worked more Iain! Upper Tay and some of the spate rivers look like they’ll be a nice height tomorrow. I was up by Aberfeldy in June and it was the lowest the ghillie had ever seen. Still quality to be there though 👌🏻
Yeah it's just nice to get out sometimes. Doesn't matter the conditions
cracking footage from the drone Iain
Thanks it puts a different perspective on a beat that's for sure.
I liked the opening drone footage really gives you a good prospective of the river and the surrounding area . Good to have friends who invite you to fish there runs . Stay safe and have a good weekend.
Thanks Mike. Yes very lucky to get an invite or two. Enjoy the weekend 👍
Lovely beat Iain great video 👏👏🥃
Thanks Chris, hopefully one will make an appearance at some point 👍
Great vid again Iain. I was on Stanley pitlochrie and benchil left bank yesterday all day 6am till 7pm didn't see one salmon. Possible wee tugs by salmon on a sunray but couldn't be sure and the usual wee trout. Very hard going.
Thanks for watching Colin, yes very hard just now. Hopefully the river will at least cool off a little next week even if it doesn't lift. Looks like a slight change in the weather so fingers crossed. That's a long day in that heat you put in fair play 👏👏
Hard going all over, hopefully a change off fortunes once wee get some decent rain and a big flood.
Fingers crossed Alan. Thanks again for watching 👍
Drone footage is excellent Iain
Hopefully Ballathie will produce the goods next Saturday
Thanks. Hopefully Stuart, fingers crossed. 👍
Ah, the potshot thats where I landed my PB last year. I'm fishing there with Cargill on Monday and according to the weather we've to get rain all day starting from about midnight on Sunday night so hopefully the cooler air and over cast brings them on.! 🤞🎣
It's a lovely cast David, good luck on Monday, there are certainly a few fish on the brat but the weather is making them pretty dour. I think even if the weather went cooler and the River temp dropped slightly we'd be catching a few more. Thanks for watching 👍
Work always got in the way for me too when the fish are running😢
Yeah it's a nightmare. Need to retire really early 🤣 thanks again for watching 👍
@@scottishoutdoorlife I was lucky to retire at 51 and I have had 25 years to catch a few salmon.
Hello Iain you’re video are excellent. Just a comment on one of your earlier posts the Scottish government do seem to be interested in the wild salmon or the money that it brings in. Or the jobs for gillies gamekeepers and local businesses. I was also wondering if you know my uncle David Cathcart and the late Jimmy Tom All the best and keep those posts coming thanks 🏋🏾♂️
Hi John, did you say they do or don't seem to be interested? I personally think they have a comprehensive strategy in place which will certainly help in 10 or 20 years but they aren't addressing the fact that the rate of decline is happening quicker than they can implement the projects they'd like to. I know the name David Cathcart but can't place it where form. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I'll try to catch one or two soon. It's nice just to start getting out a bit. 👍
@@scottishoutdoorlife I don’t think they are interested that’s my thoughts on it. He fished Stanley fishponds waulkmill stormont angling club and almond mouth. Bobby white nose him and he used to shoot with ally gowans. He’s just about 90 now. Iain does the Tay still have a hactery. As we don’t due to the Ayrshire river trust saying the rivers are all self stocking We need to give them a little help. All the best and tight lines 🐟 ps hopefully 🙏 rain 🌧️ soon lol 😂
They aren't, I do recognise the name I would've been a but younger when he was fishing lots probably. Yes the Tay has a hatchery but its limited what it can do regarding stocking as its a Special Area Of Conservation. The Earn and Eden aren't so hopefully it might be utilised in the future to help these rivers. At least it'll keep the hatchery functioning until they may consider stocking the Tay again.
Nice pools, i hooked up last monday but lost it i think it was a grilse or big rainbow anyway we were out this morn on North River the same river we were on mon but nothin today .We had a large down pour last night the river was high and fast soon time to start headen to Margaree river its easier walkin i'm gettin old lol...
Thanks again for watching. It's nice just to be out being honest. Not managed out much this year. Might get a cast tomorrow.
@@scottishoutdoorlife As soon as you can afford to retire do it, its great...
🤣only another 30 years
@@scottishoutdoorlife lol you sound like me buddy who says he can afford to retire the day after he dies...
Nice droneage and casting. What a great beat to enjoy, pity about the one missed. Can you tell us what rod/reel/line you are using?
Hi thanks for watching. I use a 15ft Loomis NRX, ots actually a bloke reel and a Rio Long Head Spey Floater. 👍
@@scottishoutdoorlife Ooh nice rod 👌
Thanks got it second hand for 225. Bargain 👍
Most vidoes now fishing for salmon same result 0 🤞next time.
Thanks for watching again. Yes unfortunately most have nothing in them. Who knows what the future holds. I might take up golf 🤣🤣👍
What a shame, a mighty river with a great history, now bereft of fish, when are The Scottish Government going to take action against fish farms, high seas poaching, predatory birds from Europe etc. Oh and by the way the last thing migratory fish need are Beavers.
Thanks for watching David, I hear you, totally agree. We need to be doing everything we can to help the rivers. Too many people commenting but not wanting to take action.
Ahhh salmon fishing , incredibly expensive casting practice. Salmon stocks lower than ever but prices still increasing. Gave it up years ago.
Hi thanks for watching. I think you had the right idea 🤣
