- This Central Park South home qua gallery fuses its owners’ love of art and aversion to natural materials with a vision of forward-thinking material design and architecture, brought to life by interior designer Carl D’Aquino and architect Francine Monaco, of D’Aquino Monaco.
See how, in this episode of Interior Lives, D’Aquino and Monaco pulled it all off, as our design editor, Wendy Goodman, tours the space and reveals why it’s so important to approach home design with a spirit of adventure. - Zábava
I am both parts entertained and amazed at the enormous amount of wealth saturated into one area of realestate such as NYC
Yeah I’m still at loss for words
Some people adore cushy sofas and dog hair, others feel coziest surrounded by interesting colors, textures, and sculptural forms. Gorgeous home - it's filled with all the things they love and walking through it is like walking through a well-curated mind. Those resin pieces are just sublime! And you'd better believe I'm going to build an LED bench now for my own home!
"Bravo Darlings... Bravo"
Magnificent. ... I am so making that Pink couch!!!
I am an Artist... was an Architect... and now I "Flip" RVs
On my 25th RV (I'm 66 years old and hope this is my last one)
I have a Antique "Click-Clack" Couch that was in one of my Vintage Travel Trailers... I had paint Everything... including the OUTSIDE...
Yes I went there!!
I completely took the Vintage "Click-Clack" Couch down to the wood... and couldn't think what to do with it (as an Artist)... but now I know!
Thank you all for sharing this Inspirational Video...
Loved every minute of it.
OMG! That pink crystal countertop is amazing!
RIGHT!!!!! I love it... and the Pink, "Fuzzy" Couch!
The clean and neutral apartment shows the art like a diamond on velvet
Nice to have an unlimited budget and love of contemporary art!
This is absolutely gorgeous ! That resin sink and doors are amazing
is it resin?
"He is never going to make them again, EVER" Why? Did you Kill him?
Deepak Mehra they were not as he had hoped they would turn out
lmao
They won't make again because too much or any kind repilacation of art depreciate it's value.
Lmao
Cringe, can you go back to work now?
The designer and the clients are making history in their own way. Congratulations, what a wonderful job.
Beautiful home...kudos to the architects and artists involved but let's not kid ourselves, the freedom the clients have given their design team comes from being uber wealthy and not from their so-called "spirit of adventure." I doubt that if they were people of more modest means they'd be so willing to hand over the reins.
That's not universally true, there are plenty of people out there who hire designers and architects within a budget.
There are lots of billionaires in New York without the same spirit
I was just thinking...no kids no pets lol and then...No kids no pets??? No life.
Not true at all, yeah if the clients had more conservative taste in design the place would look different but you can still have a modest budget and still get a similar look in your home. Biggest difference between the clients in this vid who don’t have a budget and a middle class client would be the quality of the design and finishes. Instead of shopping custom or at Kelly’s wearstler, shop at cb2 or ikea or thrift store.
Not all wealthy people have "spirit of adventure" - there are so many people with so much money and very little taste.
"It had originally been 6 apartments." The wealth gap and rising rents in NY explained. Tax the god damn rich.
THIS
Edward Wardrip they’re already taxed. Some people just got lucky or at shit to get that rich
@@armaniv6455 czcams.com/video/kXCGbAv8YPw/video.html
the pictures of poor people in the hallway I noticed, it might be beneficial for the owners to have a little chat with a psychotherapist
You created the thoughts I could not think of. Thank you.
I love the LED flickering candles.
Yes... So Harry Potter
WOW! Totally my type of place. Spectacular.
Same and I don't get how these people are unimpressed by this. I guess you need a certain taste to appreciate interiors like these. Sigh.
It’s just so great to hear that 6 homes are now 1 so that a rich couple can enjoy their art more. Just lovely
I thought when im older I won't do some pop culture art on my house because it will feel childish.
It looks like I can do it too and still feel sophisticated. love it
Must be nice to have a client who is adventurous with an unlimited budget!
This space is stunning! Would love to see it at night with lights on, should be even more surreal!
Nothing never change like Art ,but everytime it's getting more progressive and very awesome
When I see such strong aesthetics applied consistently in one home, particularly a high net worth location - it begs the question - how many homes do they own? How much time do they actually spend in this one per year? Do they carry this aesthetic into every home project or is it unique to this location? So many contextual questions that would have helped us understand them even more.
1.) They own several homes
2.) They spend a fraction of their year there.
3.) They do not keep the same aesthetic in every home. At most similar maybe in 1 more, but not the same.
I've known many artists and patrons of the arts in my life. None with the unlimited funds or arching contemporary ideas such as displayed here tho. I personally couldn't live here but I'd be happy to show up as a tour guide each day!
Amaze-balls.
The modern stately home... just like the old ones oozing money space luxury curious workmanship and is this video the modern stately home tourist viewing. Enjoyable
Sheer brilliance! I loved every minute of this video and every inch of this home! #ResinDoors #OooohWhee
I love this space. The art, the spirit! Yesssssss
Without the mural, it looks like the place my partner goes to for facial fillers... Which is a nice space, but is most definitely not a home.
shut up
Carradean Farley - A more mature, productive, thought provoking reply would go a long way. Acting like a spoiled child/snowflake that screams "shut up" when they don't agree with what has been said will get you no where. Good luck, I hope that one day you will find some maturity.
I think everyone has a different definition of what a home feels like. I really dislike when people automatically say things like this because your thoughts on what a home feels like are not the only thoughts. To them this is a home...filled with art and eccentricity. They may feel like your idea of a home isn't theirs at all. It isn't really fair to say this as a fact and not just an opinion.
@@kcd7641 - Haven't you contradicted yourself there by basically saying I shouldn't voice my opinion but then voicing yours on the same comment? The comment is clearly just my opinion, nothing factual about it (apart from it looks exactly like the place my partner goes to for fillers, fact). Some people think a surgery mixed modern art gallery space is homely, I don't... And that's fine, I respect their choice, the world will keep spinning.
Joe Bradley but they didn’t say you shouldn’t voice ur opinion... just dont say it as a fact
An absolutely stunning apartment! I love the resin doors!
Nice spirit. Fantastic doors, gold mosaic powder room walls, Chairs and flickering wall!
2:11 I am loving that sink. It's just so beautiful
You get an up vote for the time stamp
@Arlo LMAOOO
Dazzled by the frivolous expenditure of wealth on chintzy art. Also, dazzled by the verbiage of the designers creating a intricate dialogue of pure baloney.
This home has such a perfect taste, the resin and the gallery feel is beautiful. What I would do to live here....
I'm genuinely confused by commenters saying that this isn't really a home or is uninviting. Does a space need a dash of hokiness or wood to be considered a bona fide home? If they hung a yarn sampler of, "Bless this mess" in the corner would that make you more comfortable? lol
Bless this mess 😂😂😂😂😂
"Amen"
Wohhooo!!!never seen such kind of pieces before... Remarkable!!
What a fantastic work by this design team! The resin sinks stole my heart, so did the doors ad the art objects picked by the architects. . I imagine how they had to deal with the demands of the owner that her favorite Drowning Girl would be blown up a mural that looks like wallpaper). My most unexpected delight from watching this video came from reading the comments - so many thoughtful, intelligent comments by humans with sophisticated mental capabilities and fully developed vocabularies. Such a rare experience on the the internet these days
Wow, what a creative combination of design, art, modern clean lines, those epoxy doors, bathroom, etc...,
The day I have a lot of money will find this couple and buy this house.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. So fun!!!
Very beautiful home. Absolutely love the resin doors.
I CANT GET ENOUGH OF YOUR INTERESTING VLOGS!!!Thanks so much!!
I'd say the clients for this home got what they asked to be done. It's hard to make other people see what you mean. I do so like that large pull door with the man's face on it. I like that.
This is very WELL DONE.
Resin door is !y favorite..... And the soft pink marshmallow chair....📌
I absolutely love, love, love this beautiful home!!! I wish it was my home...Lol!
I don't think I could even so much as pass wind in that place without my heart increasing rapidly out of fear.
Never seen anything like this before. Too artistry n glamorous
This feels like a jewel box, but not really a home.
I was thinking that. Lovely to visit, but to live in it?
Wow I want to live in a jewel box.
Vincent Martin
Ill live in that jewel box any day thank you very much.
"aversion to natural materials" pretty much says it all
What does it say?
Soooo amazing! Almost never seen this kind of genius solutions, funny and exciting interior. I want that pink sofa, NOW! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Amazing as always! Great work Carl and Francine!
I LOVE!!!!!! I’m inspired. I collect art, not as expensive as Liechtenstein but this has inspired me not to be afraid with design
I actually drooled seeing this house 💗
Waoooo... very inspiring. I love it.
Those chairs.... I'm obsessed.
Wow WOW!!
Stunning Combination!!
Thank YOU.
Thank god for the incredible view of Central Park, the only redeeming factor here!
Amazing space! Thank you so much for sharing this.
I love this apartment. Very playful ❤💗❣
Artwork is pleasing to the eye when there is a Center of Interest, where the darkest dark meets the lightest light.
2:53 Laughed at myself so hard when I presumptuously completed her sentence in my head "...my takeaway from this project is that these clients are very "wealthy" (what I thought she was going to say). How polite of her not to have said it. She was probably thinking it! Converting six apartments in New York city for a living space for two people !?? Redistribution of wealth please. The next time someone says this planet is overpopulated, just remember, there are enough resources to sustain all of humanity, but humans have a greed, waste and distribution problem.
What a beautiful home.
I love this so much!
Absolutely fabulous.
A stunning home as #FunctionalArt. Brilliant!
Speechless…I love it
I love the valley view!
That was so awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous house!!!
“My takeaway” is client wants his cultural and social collateral to match his financial collateral.
The aesthetics MUST express the extreme cost, even more than the “passion” for art.
With that said, the architects and designers well answered his demands, and provided a wonderful trophy to live in.
Holy crap this is so so intriguing
Absolutely gorgeous 😍😍😍
Fantastic ....I would be very spirited to!!!!
I liked the look of the dining room chairs. I wish we could have spent another several seconds seeing more of those and up close.
Google them.. marcel wanders moster chairs
To each their own !
oooo i actually spotted something that i also have in their beautiful, immaculate home! a QLOCK2 :) really interesting space... love the gallery wall and those dining chairs!
Amazing! Must be nice...
Love the interior and art 👏🏽🤩
Well, darn!! I wanted to know who the client was! How imaginative ❤
I wish to own this Fabulous space but definitely, I would add special plants in it.❤
Hey there could you please suggest some ways to sell arts and if you do so let me know wher i can show my creations.
Oh God! I love it!
OMG, beyond belief!
JUST WOW!!!
that's masterpiece design
Thrilling!
Damn those pictures on the walls are incredible valuable 😲
I'm curious how all those views od the park look at night, and what they used for floors. Striking space, and the greyscale mural idea could be adapted for much more traditional spaces.
"the destination of the living room".
The resin sink and doors yalllllll❤
The L E D bench😭
AMAZING!!
The magnificent Agnes Gund would love this space (hopefully). :)
stunning
Love love love.
So cool !
spectacular!
Amazing!
I love it so much
Love the doors, especially the resin ones. The foyer/ gallery is nice as well. Dont like the hanging daybed though and Im not so sure I can live there. The whole thing looks like a set of a futuristic movie I wouldnt particularly like.
Love love love
I love the idea of using no natural materials, those resin sinks and doors are perfect.
Proof again that money cannot buy you style. (Of course it's amazing what you can do when mommy and daddy work their asses off all their life and leave you a fortune to pay the bills and allow you to indulge your 'spirit of adventure' regardless of how desperate these ridiculous people try to be noticed.
Oh my god I love it
Fantastic
"The client requested no natural materials" Okay well I'll just see myself out
Hey there could you please suggest some ways to sell arts and if you do so let me know wher i can show my creations.
