PLEASE! Dave just drove 4000 miles in 5 days from Alaska to be here. HE WAS EXHAUSTED. I'm beyond sick of the negative comments about "how he did or did not react" and what a terrible husband he is. ARE YOU SERIOUS? You can't interpret a couple's love and appreciation for each other from one EDITED video. YOU DON'T SEE EVERYTHING! And by the way, this is nothing new to us- we've been living in wall tents and buying/improving land our whole married lives. Good grief people. Calm down.

My husband was also a man of few words but he knew exactly how to express his appreciation in all the right ways, if you know what I mean. He passed away at 52 years of age in April of 2018. We were married 23 years. I knew he loved me and that's all that mattered. Cheers to many years of continued happiness to you both.

No offense intended, but I can guess why people question your relationship status. After 21 years and long bouts of isolation, you two are acting like brother and sister. You have worked so hard to surprise him...with those strange words...wanting to blow his face off.

I am 70 years old also and have a RV right now that I am living in until I find some beach area for a small home. I travelled with my medical profession.I found this channel just recently and love watching this couple. I love nature. Awesome couple.
I am only 45 and have not been able to go camping for a while. Just want to load up my gear and hook up my boat and go find a good place to do some real camping. I do miss going to the mountains and catching trout and cooking them over a fire. That is living life when you are in nature and enjoying it.
Been reading comments about Dave's reaction and whatnot. I watched almost all of Dave's videos enough to know him I think. That reaction is JUST PURE DAVE 😂 that is him happy.

My dad grew up in Michigan so we went to visit relatives every other summer. We usually managed to get there during blueberry season. Michigan has the best blueberries!
Having done the long travel and exhaustion, I think he genuinely appreciated it. In fact, I think he saw ALL the potential and his mind went straight to the future. So cool!

I am so jealous!! I had a talk today with my bf telling him how miserable I am just get, work, come home, sleep. I'm so depressed. He asked me what would help. CAMPING, TRAVELING, BUY AN RV OR WHATEVER AND DO STUFF. I didn't even realize that was what I'm missing. I hope we change it around soon. Depression is horrible!!

In forestry college many moons ago, a professor introduced us to the concept of vistas. Judicious thinning of trees can create a vista by allowing you to see thru to a scenic landscape. You start by taking out a few trees at a time until you get the scene you want. You don't need or want to clear cut.

Yeup he was moved....and really so overwhelmed he had a hard time expressing...finding the words....I could feel it as well as see it in his chest eyes speech.....you accomplished what you wanted.....way to go...!!!!!!! Just Remember when you cut Trees down for home site-etc., plant trees back-they can be fruit trees, this way the Spirits that BE will be OK with you on their Property. I did civil war reenacting for 7 years ! The wall tent I had was so cozy on cold nights with my kerosene heater going ! I kinda miss those days sitting around the camp fire with my friends, listening to stories and sipping coffee !

I didn't hear it at first either, but then as it went on he sounded more in awe, and when I am in awe I tend not to show jumping up and down excitement, too. Then he starts talking about the landscape and you can hear it

Your videos are timeless, I am seeing this for the first time 3 years after it being posted, but it is all new. It might be some more of the same, but beautiful is beautiful at any point in time. I'm amazed that you are still going at it strong as ever. I love watching you guys work, not used to seeing you slow down for a bit. So much of the northern US is pristine compared to other places, however, east Tennessee and western North Carolina are beautiful too with easier winters. A cabin on the lake would be so nice...

Cherish the moments girl because when his gone his gone forever 😓. Lost my husband at 58 been two years ..died of cancer been with him for 42 years, since I was 15 married at 17 . He also loved the wilderness...all he ever wanted was a cabin in the woods , he said he could live like this for the rest of his life .
Love seeing the stove and tripod in action. All the comforts, access to a huge lake, seclusion, privacy and all the nature you can stand. You two are living the dream.

Totally reminds of the mountains I grew up camping in, the Sierra Nevada mountains of central California. We always camped in the back county, not in campgrounds. We would go into the camp my grandpa first set up back in 1948, near a spring he found, inthe early spring in our jeeps, having to clear trees that came down in the winter snow, sometime there wiuld still be some snow. It was near the Emigrant Wilderness area. Not to far from the Tioga pass area of Yosemite National Park, Avery remote area of the California mountains. My parents built a cabin in the mountains and later built their home a few miles from were there cabin was. Ineer my husband at the ski area, Dodge Ridge, not to far from there and were married in the mountains. I spent so much of my life in the back county camping, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, fishing, hunting, even water skiing at the many lakes in the area. I love the quite of the forest, the different shades of greens of the trees, the sky, the night stars, the animals, I even love the rocks of so many types and colors. I a a girl in the woods too Brook ❣️🌲🌲🌲🏞️
